Five Things Friday: 5?s – Life After Weight Loss

Happy Friday everyone! It’s raining here. It’s got me in some type of mood, but life must go on. I am here this week with part II of the video from last week. FYI: This will be the last 5?s about weight loss for a while, probably like 2 months. I just wanted to round up the most frequently asked questions in a video for people to watch. I have a few other weight loss related videos that will hit the queue eventually but this will be the last of these kind for a while.

I think you should ask me other questions about something else though. Travel? Fitness? Cooking? Time management? Television/books? Hit me up.

I now present to you: 5?s – Life After Weight Loss

I hope everyone has a great weekend and finds the video helpful.

Five Things Friday: 5Qs about weight loss

Five Things Friday: 5Qs about weight loss

Hello all! Happy Friday! Sorry about not having a blog up yesterday, I thought I scheduled a post but I guess I was wrong. That means I’m absent minded and it just left you absent. Have no fear, Angie is here with a new post for Friday. I enjoy doing the Five Things Friday thing but I thought I would change it up with a video this week. I am answering five questions about weight loss. The topic will change from week to week but if you have a question about anything, please feel free to ask me. It will…

Five Things Friday: Things I Want To Try

Five Things Friday: Things I Want To Try

Welcome to this week’s edition of Five Things Friday.  I’m talking about the things I want to to try.  There’s nothing really outlandish going on here, but there is some interesting stuff on this list…well at least to me. I don’t know what has stopped me from trying these things, but something has.  Maybe I should get to the root of the problem or just skip that part and just start trying stuff. I won’t waste any more of your time, so I’ll just get to the list. 1. A zumba class. Technically, I’ve gone to a Zumba class BUT…

Beginner Treadmill Workout for Willie’s Birthday

Beginner Treadmill Workout for Willie’s Birthday

I don’t know if any of you remember, but Willie and I started our weight loss journey on the treadmill.  We scheduled out the time to walk on the treadmill for roughly 35 minutes a day. Willie literally walked off 150 pounds. I know the treadmill gets a bad wrap, especially by me, because people claim it to be boring. But the truth is: you can get a great cardio workout on a treadmill.  Do I enjoy running 15 miles on a treadmill?  Nope, but I do like walking on the treadmill.  It’s easier to keep pace and to keep…

What the kale? Reap the kale health benefits.

What the kale? Reap the kale health benefits.

Are you eating kale? Chances are you’re probably not. Quinoa and kale have become a “trendy” food to eat because of their health benefits, but most people aren’t eating these things at home. Today, I’m going to talk to you about kale because I love it. It’s a tricky green to work with sometimes. If you’re not eating kale, you’re missing out on the kale health benefits like mega nutrients in one little plant. Kale is a superfood! It’s loaded with tons of nutrients. The darker the green, the better it is for you and kale greens are some of…

Zip lining is our non scale victory

Zip lining is our non scale victory

Willie and I always said when we lost the weight, we would do some things like go to China, travel more and go zip lining. I’m two years past hitting my goal weight and we still didn’t zip line. Today we finally enjoyed the view from the tree tops at Shelby Farms. The non scale victory really came because it was great to not have anyone question our weight and we were just normal. We actually planned to go in Chattanooga but we canceled those plans and decided to come to Memphis. This was the biggest thing we had planned…

Five things: Weight Loss Edition

Five things: Weight Loss Edition

Happy Friday everyone!  It’s been a long week but I’m glad I made it to Friday.  The bad news is our air conditioning is on the fritz so it’s hotter than biscuits in our house. I had to get some AC is out provisions.  Hopefully, the unit will be fixed today but I’m skeptical. Anyway, I wanted to start doing the Friday Five thing but with a twist…with some helpful information for people so this week’s topic will be weight loss. 1. Weight loss is a process.  It’s not going to happen overnight so be patient.  It always helps if…

The weight loss numbers pressure

The weight loss numbers pressure

Every day we’re bombarded with numbers: times, dates, addresses, appointments, etc. But there are other numbers in our lives that consume us too like workout minutes, miles to run, pounds to lose, pounds gained, etc. Sometimes those numbers can put pressure on us. Last week my friend blogged about a mile being a mile. It’s a great read and I think everyone should read it. Basically, her post pointed out that we should do what works for us and not try to be like everyone else. It really got me thinking about how little things do influence us and push…

The time I tried the falafel waffle

The time I tried the falafel waffle

I tried to falafel waffle from the Cooking Channel commercial. Falafel is usually fried in ball form and oh so delicious. Willie and I love them but they are loaded with fat so I wanted to find a way for us to enjoy these things. I’ve seen the commercial a million times on Cooking Channel but I’ve never had enough time to attempt making it. Sunday, I had the time and this was the result. Where my falafel waffle went wrong? This probably would have worked out better with a food processor. All I have is a Ninja and it…

Healthy eating with chicken: three recipes I will …

Healthy eating with chicken: three recipes I will to try

We eat a lot of chicken, turkey and fish in our house. Red meat is limited, Willie eats it but I tend to shy away from it.  Eating lean meats is a huge part of our healthy eating plan. I’ve been trying to find some ways to enjoy chicken besides the usual ways. This week for lunch I made a chicken soup from the Runner’s World Cookbook.  I was in a pinch because I needed a meal for the week but I didn’t have enough time slave over the stove.  I needed to use the crock pot. I have to…

Always dream big.

Always dream big.

It’s harder to have dreams when you’re older, right?  It sometimes seems like dreams are for the young.  Why does that have to be the case?  Why can’t the world be my oyster just like it was when I was a 5 year old.  Things were easier back then.  All my needs were met, I didn’t have to pay any bills and I didn’t have to go to work.  Dreaming big was probably the biggest job I had. I thought I could do anything and be anyone I wanted.  Do I really need to be thinking in the past tense?…
