The time I tried something new for lunch

If you haven’t noticed, I’m a creature of habit.  We eat the same thing all week for dinner, if it’s good I’ll suggest that we have it again the next week.  I’ll eat the same things for lunch too.  It doesn’t bother me. Most people don’t like leftovers, but I love for them.  I guess there’s a little comfort in knowing what I’m getting.  What’s the point on wasting calories on something you don’t like?  I DO understand there is something a little bit wrong with that, but my weekends are for experimenting…not my weekdays.

Yesterday I strayed from the plan because I just feel like I needed something new.  I’ve seen these meals a lot at the grocery store (and I fear no one is buying them) and I thought I would give it try.  The real reason I decided to give it a try:  there was a dollar off coupon.  The meals run around $5-$6 which isn’t bad but I didn’t want to take the chance, but I did yesterday.

I had the coconut chicken and I LOVED IT! It was a great meal and the calories and macros were just right for me. It’s all about portion control and this was just the right amount. Sometimes when you get the portion control meals you open up the package and there’s barely anything in there. I was pleasantly surprised; I really wanted to go back to get another one for dinner. It’s a nice alternative to a “fresh” meal. We have no problem getting the frozen meals to eat but if these were around the same price as those I would probably go for these instead.

There are many different varieties of the meals to choose from and when I went back last night, it was kind of overwhelming for me to pick another one. Right now I’m on a chicken kick some I picked up lemon pepper chicken and chicken parmesan. If you have an HEB is your hood (only my Texas friends) check these meals out and tell me what you think.

Fitbit charge

On another note, my Fitbit Charge has bit the dust. I got the Fitbit around New Years and now the screen isn’t displaying anything. It still is tracking but the screen doesn’t work. I had to contact customer service again and they are sending me a new one. I’m getting an Alta because they don’t have any charge fitbits in stock. Am I Fitbit killer? I don’t get it. Every Fitbit I’ve purchased I have had to send back. I purchased a Fitbit Blaze a few weeks ago, does that mean it’s going to quit on me too? I sure hope not! Any of my Fitbit using readers, do you have this many problems with your Fitbit?

What have you been eating for lunch this week? Maybe you can give me some new ideas.

Getting back on track

Getting back on track

It’s Monday! It’s the beginning of the new week and it’s time to start anew. Remember, there are good things about Mondays. There are a couple of things I have gotten away from that I think are very important and I don’t know why I stopped going them. The first thing is setting weekly and monthly goals. The monthly goal post was something I did regularly on the blog but I got away from it for some reason. Maybe I thought no one was interested in my goals or just thought it was a meaningless post…and that may actually be…

My biggest motivation

My biggest motivation

There’s one thing I’ve learned about motivation over the past few weeks.  In my case, I definitely need that dangling carrot to chase. When I was on the weight loss journey, the carrot was of course losing the weight.  Motivation came in the mirror and just being able to move around better. Since losing the weight and experiencing a whole new world, I’ve constantly been on the go.  I’ve been running these races and traveling across the country with goals…and then all of the sudden I’m not filled with that.  That became my normal and all of the sudden it’s…

My site was hacked but I still worked out this week

Have you noticed that I haven’t been blogging?  Well it wasn’t my fault.  I scheduled out my posts but then a few days later I noticed that I wasn’t getting any comments or feedback on my posts.  Then I figured out that I was no longer in control of things happening with my site. I couldn’t login to change anything.  I was sad and I hoped that I wasn’t going to lose everything I had worked 3 years to build. I didn’t want to mention that I was locked out of my own site because I didn’t really know who…

The great thing about Mondays

The great thing about Mondays

Happy Monday everyone! Sometimes Mondays get a bad wrap because the day comes after the weekend, but it’s not always that bad.  The great thing about Mondays is it’s a time to start fresh and wipe the slate clean. Mondays are a day when I try to actually put together an outfit to wear. Here is what I’m sporting today and this has no place in the actual blog post but it’s fun, right? Monday is a day of reflection of what you accomplished the previous week and what you want to do in the upcoming week. The great thing…

Weight loss transformation begins with a choice

Weight loss transformation begins with a choice

Six years ago life was very different.  Sometimes it’s seems like things were simpler back then because I didn’t worry about having to make gym workouts and I didn’t care about what I ate. Dinner usually came from the drive through and nights were filled with pints of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. I was still always on the go but I wasn’t on the go to go run a marathon. There are a few things I’ve learned a long the way that I would like to share with you about the weight loss transformation. Transformation is a choice.  You have…

Finding yourself is part of the journey

Finding yourself is part of the journey

Happy Monday afternoon everyone.  Things haven’t been great in life and I’ve pulled away from blogging because it’s hard to remain transparent in really trying times.  It may have made the problems deepen a bit because it has become an internal issue.  Today Willie posted something on his blog and brought some things to the forefront. I really do hope you take the time to read his post. I really want to encourage everyone to find what it is in life that will make you happy.  Without happiness, nothing else will fall into place.  I lived many many years not…

Motivation: If you don’t succeed, try again

Motivation: If you don’t succeed, try again

Happy Monday everyone!  It’s time for a little Monday Motivation for you about trying.  I just want to let you know it’s ok to fail, it’s ok to make mistakes and it’s ok to do less than your best.  It’s not ok to let those missteps keep you from moving forward. If you don’t succeed, try again! Let’s all make the committment to live life and that includes trying…and possibly failing. Sometimes there is a need to take chances and step out of the comfort zone. For many years, I would stayed stagnant by not attempting anything new. I was…

Don’t put in the work; don’t …

Don’t put in the work; don’t expect a good result

Many of you are giving the “WTF” comments on my post about getting my run life together. This is a lesson that can be taken to every aspect of life so I wanted to explain to you why am I getting my run life together. I get where the WTF comments are coming from because you see me running all the time. That’s the thing, I am running all the time, but I’m not running consistently. Basically, I haven’t been putting in the work. I’m just going through the motions and that’s not what I want RIGHT now. I want…

Bad doesn’t always mean bad

Bad doesn’t always mean bad

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope you are having a fabulous start to the week.  I had a great weekend hanging with friends and running some trails but there is more on that later.  It’s time for a little motivation on Monday about why bad doesn’t always mean bad. The weight loss journey was hard and frustrating but the positive was we were working toward a goal. Even on the worst days, it was just easier to move forward imagining what things would be like in the end. There are times when you find yourself in a place that isn’t the…
