Find your passion

The other day I did a Facebook Live to answer questions about weight loss and what not.  If you missed it, I’m sorry but you can go back to watch it.  Someone asked a question about my motivation to keep going and answered about beginning with the end in mind.  This got me thinking a little deeper about what motivates me to do what I do.

I found my passions. It’s easy to be motivated when I found something that I love to do.  I fell in love with running and it gave me something to work towards.  Running gave me the time to think to about some other passions, too.

I always want to be better than I was the day before, even if it’s a small change.  If I can run a little bit longer if I can run a bit faster, or even just improving my form is what I’m striving for every day.

Running isn’t for everyone and I don’t want anyone to think I’m pushing running on you.  I talk about my running with others to encourage people to find their passion.

Find that thing that is going to light a fire in your life.

Finding your passion will change your world.  It will give you something to focus on.  It will give you something to work on and perfect.  It will provide you with your greatest joys and challenges in your life. It will give you something to wake up for every day and want to keep looking forward.  Your passion will ignite your life and will open up new opportunities in your life.

Running isn’t my only passion but it’s opened up so many doors for me.  Running has allowed me to find out that I do want to help people achieve their hopes and dreams.  I want to make people think.  I want to inspire and motivate others.  Losing the weight, interacting with the worldwide running community, and writing my blog lead me to want to help people.

I want to have a voice and I want to make a difference.  It’s another one of my motivations to keep going forward on my journey.

Don’t look to anyone else to tell you what your “thing” is in life.  It lives inside of you and no one will know better than yourself.  I encourage you to find your passion and see where it takes you.  Take the leap and do something that you love.  Find ways to shape your passion into something that will last a lifetime.

Our greatest enemy is our own mind so don’t rob yourself of something because you don’t think you’re capable of doing it or it’s just slightly out of reach.  With anything in life, the good things are worth working for and this is the time for you to put in the work to DEVELOP your passion.

This will not be the first time I talk about finding your passion.  This post is just the prelude.  I encourage you to stop and think about the things that move your heart.  Find the things that make you think.  What is it that you love to do?

Have you found your passion or are you still searching?

Starting the weight loss journey is the hardest …

Starting the weight loss journey is the hardest part

People often ask me what was/is the hardest part of the weight loss journey.  Sometimes I want to say, “keeping the weight off” and that is true, but the hardest part is really just getting started. If you are ready for your weight loss journey it is important to take the steps.  I wanted to lose the weight many times before I actually did.  Do you know what the biggest difference was the last time?  I actually took the steps to make it happen. I would always think about what life would be life if I lost the weight.  I…

Don’t let a one-upper steal your shine

Don’t let a one-upper steal your shine

Happy Monday!  I hope everyone is starting off their week off right.  Monday is a time to start anew and set new goals.  This is your moment, don’t waste it. Today I wanted to talk to you about the one-upper.  I don’t know how to exactly phrase this to you so I’m hoping you will understand. Don’t let these people get you down. Beware of the one-uppers in your life.  The people who are always trying to get the last word.  The people who are always trying to do you one better.  Sometimes it seems like those people are just…

Better than yesterday

Better than yesterday

Happy Monday, y’all! It’s been a minute since I hit the blog because I am trying to get things moving in the right direction. Which is exactly what I want to talk about today: being better than yesterday. That is my motto. That phrase is the thing that gets me up in the morning and motivated in my daily pursuits. Even if it’s just a fraction of change, I want to be better than yesterday. Yesterday, I ran a 10K. I had high hopes for this race, but it didn’t work for me. I thought it was going to rain…

Motivation Monday: Know your worth

Motivation Monday: Know your worth

I know it’s been awhile since I last blogged.  I know it’s been a minute since I sent some motivation your way.  It’s been rough.  I haven’t felt very motivational lately.  I’ve felt like I’ve been the one who needed to be motivated.  I didn’t really know if I should be the one providing you with motivation when I was looking for it myself.  My My postpartum journey has been a process.  There are days I think I have it completely together and then other days when I feel like it’s like poop on the floor. It’s just life, I…

I never know where to start

I never know where to start

I never know where to start so I’ve been avoiding my blog altogether. I have plans for the blog but I just don’t have the time to execute them. Well, I don’t think I’ve been managing my time correctly when I do have the time. I guess I’m trying to add things back gradually. First I was trying to get back to working out, then dropping some weight and then getting back to teaching my cycle classes. Now might be time for me to get back to working on the blog. I’m really ready to get back to it and…

When they say you can’t

When they say you can’t

When they say you can’t, I think you can. Please fight back and do what you want to do! I’ve been a little stressed and it’s been reflected on the blog because I’ve been a little busy.  I’ve been busy because they said I couldn’t.  When I got pregnant people told me I wouldn’t work out.  People told me I wouldn’t run.  People told me I couldn’t travel. People told me I wouldn’t do a lot of things. When they said I couldn’t, that lit a fire under my butt. My baby is almost 4 months old and things have…

Progress will come

Progress will come

Progress is moving forward, moving toward achieving a goal.  Progress is always welcome but doesn’t always come easy. There are a few things I am currently working on: Trying to lose my pregnancy weight. Find the balance and time to get my workouts in on a consistent basis. Getting back into running…at the pace I’m more familiar running. There have been times when I’ve felt completely helpless during this time and there have been the moments when I thought I was taking steps backward.  When progress doesn’t show its face, its hard to find the motivation to keep moving forward.…

Rock n Roll Dallas Weekend Recap

Rock n Roll Dallas Weekend Recap

This past weekend I ran some races, faced some fears and regained a few parts of myself in the process. This weekend was my first big challenge since having Baby G three months ago. It was a good weekend for me and I’m nothing but positive with moving forward. A few weeks back, I found out I was accepted as a Rock n Roll race series ambassador through the Rock n Blog program.  This is something I have been chasing for awhile (3 years) and it finally arrived on my doorstep when I had really given up hope.  I just…

I need a break

I need a break

This is a post that I didn’t want to make but I have to say it.  I need a break.  I have too many things going on right now.  My blog has always come first since I started it but right now with the new baby, I just can’t keep up.  I can’t plan the way I want to plan, I can’t provide the content I want to provide because time management is just something different right now.  Things are getting easier but I’m still making a transition.  I hope to be back on track in a few weeks after…

Do what you can

Do what you can

Happy Monday! Now is the time to do what you can no matter the level or the time behind it. I’m going through a humbling experience right now because my fitness level obviously isn’t the same as what it was 10 months ago. It’s not like I’m starting all over, but I have taken a few steps backward. Before y’all start hitting the comments about how I just had a baby or I should be blessed, I want to shut it down. I know I just had a baby and I am beyond blessed for my baby. That is not…
