You’re my workout accountability partner

Sorry I missed the blog today but  I wanted to make sure you knew what I was up to in life.  You’re my workout accountability partner. You know I like to keep things rolling.  I’ve been in the car all day.  I’m roadtrippin’ to Kentucky to capture state #10.

I didn't post my picture this morning because I started my road-trip to Kentucky, but I got my workout in this morning. Did u workout? #fitfluential #fitfam
I did get my workout in this morning. I taught a wonderful class this morning and then immediately went home ate and got in the car.

Someone asked why I posted pictures of my workouts every day.  I’m not doing it for any other reason so that you can hold me accountable.  Workout accountability partners are a huge part of any journey.  You are my accountability partner.  If I’m not posting a picture of something, then you know I’m not working out.  It’s your job to hold me accountable and I’ll hold you accountable too.

Did you workout today?  What did you do?

I’m all about the NFL Draft

I’m all about the NFL Draft

Excuse me for my lack of posting today. There’s only been one thing on my mind… It’s NFL Draft Day and I’m so excited! I’ve been waiting for this day for a couple of months now. I’ve been following all the news and the players I’m interested in. I’m a little bummed about Shane Ray because he was the one person I was really pulling for this year. I’m a huge Texans fan but I’m also a Bears fan too.  My heart can’t choose until forced so instead I cheer for both! It’s the end of the month so I…

Bringing back the two-a-days and other things

Bringing back the two-a-days and other things

Willie is on a mission to remind me I’m just a few days done from the 50K! I have some aches and pains and he’s on my butt about giving it time. You know what I say to that? Yep! That’s right. It’s the time of year when it’s getting hotter outside and the nearby races are coming to an end. That means one of two things. 1. I need to start traveling or 2. I’m going to have to hit the streets and run. I’m going to Kentucky in two weeks though and then California at the end of…

Broken medals and the rest of the week

Broken medals and the rest of the week

We finally received the coveted Little Rock Marathon medal after almost two months.  I was excited because I saw other people getting their medals.  But I opened up the box and the medals were broken. To be honest, I was just glad to have the medal. It doesn’t really matter to me if it’s broken, but Willie kind of took it personal. I wish both of the medals weren’t broken because I would have just handed mine to him. He specifically ran the race for the medal so it was a big deal to him. But sadly, both were broken.…

Five things on this Friday

Five things on this Friday

Happy Friday everyone!  I’ve been waiting for this day all week because I knew it would be a rest day for me.  I told myself that if I put in the work during the week, I could take today off from working out.  I was looking forward to sleeping in, but I still managed to wake up at 5:20am.  I got an extra hour of sleep so I’ll take that as a win. 1. I took it to the couch this morning to watch some Real Housewives of New York City and Married at First Sight.  I do love my…

Getting back to the goals

Getting back to the goals

I use to be really big on posting my monthly goals on the blog but somehow that got away from me.  I need to have my long term and short term goals in writing as a reminder.  I preached that writing your goals down was essential to success and I did the opposite.  A lot of things have gotten away from me in the past few months and I want to get back to ground zero which leads me to my goals list. 1.  I’d like to get back to where I started.  This blog has been a labor of love…

Good Friday leads to a workout plan.

Good Friday leads to a workout plan.

I hope everyone is enjoying Good Friday! I’ve been trying to get things organized in my house because it’s been complete chaos. Today I’ve been working on my office because I don’t actually work in here. I usually end up working on the couch and not much work gets accomplished there. Maybe when I get everything organized I’ll share a picture but right now, I’m just too embarrassed. I’ve been sporting one calf sleeve all week because I have a peroneal tendon strain. I rolled my ankle a bit last week during the trail run and it’s still kind of…

Weight loss and changing your routine

Weight loss and changing your routine

Weight loss has been a big subject in our house again.  Willie is trying to drop some pounds and is going back to the methods.  That means we’ve been talking about it much more but I guess more about what happens after weight loss. It’s been on my mind about the struggles, the fears, the pay off…everything that has come along with it.  The biggest thing we’ve been talking about is changing up the workouts.  It’s easy to get wrapped up in doing something that you like to do but it’s important to change up your workouts.  The body responds…

Break out of the workout rut

Break out of the workout rut

Hello gym workout rutt. I don’t know what’s been going on but lately I’ve been less than thrilled with my workouts. It’s been pretty rough so I’ve been trying to change some things up. Going through a rut is to be expected, right? We’ve been going to the same gym for three years now so it’s probably only natural to feel the “been there, done that feeling” we’ve both been experiencing. I know we’re not the only ones who feel that way. The past couple of weeks I’ve been trying to limit my gym time and try some other things…

Not running all the marathons

Not running all the marathons

Last week I was prepping all week to run The Austin Marathon. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy or fast but I just wanted to run it. I kept referring to the weekend as a “shit show” but I was really excited for it. As excited that I was to run that marathon, I knew I probably shouldn’t. It nagged at me all week which made me really think about the situation. Running the marathons is fun and I love to do it. But it is incredibly taxing on the body and probably not something I need to…

Exercising is the LEAST offensive thing I’ve …

Exercising is the LEAST offensive thing I’ve done to my body

A study by the American College of Cardiology came out suggesting the amount I run will increase my chance of death but it’s at the same rate of people who sit on the couch. The National guideline suggests 150 minutes per week of moderate exercise. For me, this isn’t a big deal. Teaching two of my classes is 90 minutes and we all know I work out more than that. I haven’t even made a dent into the 150 minutes with running. But even if I wasn’t running, would more than 150 mins of exercising be harmful to my health?…
