Stop, drop and smile.

Things haven’t been great lately and I got bogged down in some negative energy. And then work happened and it got really busy and I didn’t have enough time to really blog. Today’s message: You’re never fully dressed without a smile. It’s not a completely an original idea. But it’s a theory I want to carry over into this Monday. It’s time to start fresh and to start anew. It’s time to smile, again.  The act of smiling can change your whole world in the blink of an eye. A smile breeds positivity. Why should you turn that frown upside…

Donate to Team Healthy Kids and WIN $100 AMAZON GIFT CARD!

Hey everyone! I don’t really want to ask this on my blog but I’m desperate. I need to raise $295 by tomorrow for Team Healthy Kids. I was always the bigger kid and spent pretty much my whole life as being obese. This is a cause that is near and dear to my heart. Here’s why you should donate: I’m not asking you to break your bank account, but a $10 donation will go a long way in helping out a kid. Take a stand to fight off childhood obesity. $25 gives a child a healthy meal for a month…

Video this week: drink more water, get motivated and a road trip

Happy Thursday everyone!  I didn’t do any meal prep this week because it was all up to Willie so I don’t have a food video for you this week.  I’ve been working really hard on these videos and it’s a learning process.  It’s something I feel is adding more to the blog. Here are the videos this week: Drink more water…and add some flava! Keep your fitness appointment because it’s just as important as anything else in your life. Watch and get motivated! And my weekend road trip to Mississippi/Alabama by myself. Boo! Have you tried a water enhancer? Did…

Hot weather is killing my marathon training

Hot weather is killing my marathon training

I said it.  I’m not thrilled to be training for the Chicago Marathon right now.  (Don’t forget I’m trying to raise $$ for Team Healthy Kids.  Do you think you can help me out?) It’s hot and humid and that equals struggle.  Because of the weather, I feel confined and stuck to having to run at a certain time. I crapped out of my long run last Friday because I just wasn’t feeling it.  I attempted a treadmill run.  I did manage to get 4 miles in on Saturday and probably could have done more if I woke up earlier…but…

The pigeon hole

The pigeon hole

I’m having one of those days that just isn’t really good.  I do feel like I’m trapped in a nightmare.  The one thing I need to always remember is everyone has problems, right?  Everyone is dealing with something and everyone is having their own type of day.  I don’t want to be overly dramatic about it because it’s probably just a little blip on the radar.  Everything seems so much bigger when you’re going through it, right? I had another blog post planned today but I wanted to be real.  The social media world presents our facade life.  You get…

Keep your fitness appointment

Keep your fitness appointment

Happy Monday!  I hope everyone had a great weekend.  I went to visit my best friends to celebrate a very special birthday.  I hadn’t seen them in forever so it was so great.  Sadly, I didn’t get many pictures but I got a few. The key to life is to surround yourself with good people.  I think I’m winning in this department, finally. I did video…but it’s not ready yet.  The weekend video will be up on Wednesday.  Today’s video is about motivation and keeping your fitness appointments. This morning Willie and I went to the gym.  I did a…

Five Things Friday: Learned on a road trip

Five Things Friday: Learned on a road trip

It’s late and it’s almost no longer Friday, but I’m going to make it just in time to post my five things Friday. I had a rough start to the day and realized I probably just needed a little break and some sleep.  I bailed on my long run this morning because I was tired. I knew I needed to get in the car to drive to see my very best friends today too so I made the smart decision to bail out on the run and go back home to sleep before leaving. It was a road trip and…

The loaf that fell apart and mixed greens …

The loaf that fell apart and mixed greens recipe

On Sunday, we actually had time to prep out some meals.  It was nice being able to do that so I guess it’s fine the weekend was pretty uneventful. I’ve been dying to make a curried lentil loaf for a few weeks now, but I never had enough time to actually make one or I didn’t buy the right stuff from the store.  Basically bad planning kept me from making a lentil loaf. Here’s a video showing a little of the meal prep this week and I give you tips!  Watch for the tips! So what exactly is the lentil…

Ask me a question and watch my two NEW videos.

I would like to do a Q&A video once a month. If you have any questions at all you want to ask me, leave the questions in the comments of this post, tweet me, or subscribe to my channel and leave a comment on a video. Here’s your chance to ask me a question and get an answer. It can be about anything, health, fitness, eating, daily life, emotions, books…etc. Just ask! I’m really backlogged on my videos this week. The videos are going up closer to each other which isn’t always great. Check out my latest videos: The first…

Eggland’s Best Eggs: protein packed and great …

Eggland’s Best Eggs: protein packed and great for summer

I’ve always stressed the importance of protein after a workout. I won’t let you forget that I love to have low fat chocolate milk after a long run because of the protein and carb replacement. But you also know my favorite post run meal involves eggs. I can never have too much omelet! It’s summer, it’s heating up and I’m putting a lot of stress on my body training for the Chicago Marathon in October.  My summer activities include spending a lot of time outside (playing with the dogs, hanging with my family and just enjoying nature) and working toward…

You are enough

You are enough

I was kind of stumped at what I was going to write about today.  I sat at the computer yesterday for something, but I was blocked.  Before going to bed, I found this video and it left me speechless. We must all remember that we are enough. There is no mold at to who we should be and who we are should just be enough. I remember thinking if I lost weight then I’ll fit in to the “normal” world. I wouldn’t have the eyes starring at me, taking pity on me or giving me the “looks.” But you know…
