There’s nothing holding you back

Happy Monday!  It’s time to kick start the week and make something happen.  I’m a huge sports person and watching sports gives me warm fuzzy feelings.  Last night was the Super Bowl and the winter Olympics are coming up.  I’m filled with all kinds of warm feelings on the inside.  I don’t think I’ve ever made it through an Olympic game without shedding some tears.  Just knowing people worked so hard to achieve their dreams and they finally made it without even standing on the podium is enough to move me.  But when I see a medal ceremony, it’s hard to just sit there without thinking about the struggle and sacrifice.

All of this has me thinking about the things that hold us back from achieving our own dreams.  (And maybe there was a little Shawn Mendes on my mind, too) Sometimes we are our own worst enemies and get in our own way, but there really isn’t anything holding you back.  Don’t let these things get in your way.

  1. Fear of failure.  Second guessing is a big thing especially when you’re embarking on a new adventure or path in life. There is the fear of the unknown that can stop you from even taking the first steps.  Just remember, things may not happen the way you planned but that doesn’t mean that things are not going to happen.  Don’t be afraid of failure.  Let the fear of failure be your guide to success.  Use the obstacles as a way to fuel your journey to not give up.
  2. Fear of change. It’s hard to step out of your comfort zone.  It’s hard to even see you’re trying something new.  When things aren’t going in the right direction, it might be time to make a change.  Therefore, you cannot let the fear of change and normal patterns of behavior to stunt your growth as a person. There is no change without change. More opportunities may come your way with the slightest bit of change.  Also, even with the change, it doesn’t take long for something to become your new normal.
  3. Lack of trust in your own decisions. At some point, you have to hang it up and just trust yourself.  If you can’t trust yourself, who can you trust? I don’t care what people say, you are your own best friend and the only person you can really depend on is yourself.  You are the person who knows what is best for you, so you just have to trust your decisions and move forward.  Even if there is a struggle, there is still a lesson to learn and that will make you trust yourself even more. It’s very easy to get clouded by what other people think you should do but it’s up to you to make the right decisions for yourself.

I am here to tell you that you can accomplish anything that you want.  There is nothing holding you back.  Make the decision to make a change, put a plan in place, and trust yourself.  Don’t let mind games stop you from advancing in life because of fear or getting in your own way. Hard work and determination will beat out any fears you may have about a situation.

There is nothing holding your back.

Do not stop the journey

Do not stop the journey

Good morning, everyone!  I wanted to start off by saying an apology for leaving the blog bare for so long.  It’s been a week and that’s not for lack of wanting to blog, it’s poor time management.  The to-do list is long and the blog is always the last thing on the list.  The blog is going to be a priority for me in 2018 because it’s something I love to do.  I will better manage my time and get the job done. This is a perfect segway into my topic today about carrying on no matter how long it…

Got weight loss goals?

Got weight loss goals?

It’s the new year and everyone is looking for those posts about achieving weight loss goals.  I’m going to go back to my roots to talk about what started it all, weight loss. My weight loss journey started back on January 6, 2011. I weighed 338 pounds, which I think was my heaviest weight.  I couldn’t be too sure because I never stepped on a scale until the day I started my weight loss journey. Now it’s 2019 and I’ve managed not to gain my weight back.  My biggest weight gain was from pregnancy, but I’m glad to say I’m…

It’s a new year

It’s a new year

I’m not too late to send my New Years message into the universe. There may only be a few hours left on January 1, 2018, but I’m going to get this message out there. I’ve been doing this blogging thing for a long time now and this day in the blogosphere is dedicated to people talking about their goals. It’s a new year, a clean slate. Really, did we all wake up and 2017 disappeared from the world? It doesn’t exactly work like that and it’s ok. As those days tick by we are learning things about ourselves, we are…

Monday Motivation: Take the challenge

Monday Motivation: Take the challenge

Happy Monday everyone!  I’ve been trying to catch up on blog business so I can get back to do what I love.  It’s been a life-changing year for me and just when I thought I have my crap together, something else pops up. It’s all been a challenge but that’s what life is about, right? I encourage everyone to take on the challenge.  Don’t let the challenge knock you down.  Face it head on, tackle the challenge, and overcome the challenge. There are plenty of people out there in the world who tell say, “you shouldn’t, you can’t, you don’t have…

Make life happen

Make life happen

I know I haven’t been blogging and that’s on me. That doesn’t mean I haven’t been here, I just haven’t made blogging a priority when I know I should. I’ve had some tough moments this year and I let some things slip away from me. I may have created a bad habit of complaining instead of acting. I haven’t been practicing the things I say on the blog. The past two weeks I’ve been focusing on change and I’ve come to a conclusion. Make life happen. There is a lesson learned in every situation. There is glory in the journey.…

Find your passion

Find your passion

The other day I did a Facebook Live to answer questions about weight loss and what not.  If you missed it, I’m sorry but you can go back to watch it.  Someone asked a question about my motivation to keep going and answered about beginning with the end in mind.  This got me thinking a little deeper about what motivates me to do what I do. I found my passions. It’s easy to be motivated when I found something that I love to do.  I fell in love with running and it gave me something to work towards.  Running gave…

That time I burned crockpot lasagna

That time I burned crockpot lasagna

I love making stuff in the crockpot because it’s a great way to get a home cooked meal without all the fuss.  That was until I decided I was going to make crockpot lasagna. I was intrigued when I was fell down the rabbit hole of Pinterest and found a crock pot veggie lasagna recipe. The great thing about the crockpot is setting and forgetting, but this time I feel like it was a little too much work. I was highly skeptical on Sunday while I was making this. I even posted on Instagram stories I wasn’t sure I would be…

Starting the weight loss journey is the hardest …

Starting the weight loss journey is the hardest part

People often ask me what was/is the hardest part of the weight loss journey.  Sometimes I want to say, “keeping the weight off” and that is true, but the hardest part is really just getting started. If you are ready for your weight loss journey it is important to take the steps.  I wanted to lose the weight many times before I actually did.  Do you know what the biggest difference was the last time?  I actually took the steps to make it happen. I would always think about what life would be life if I lost the weight.  I…

Meal prep this week: Maple Dijon chicken

Meal prep this week: Maple Dijon chicken

I haven’t really been talking about my meal prep on the blog lately. I know it’s bad because people want to know about the meal prep. I haven’t really talked about meal prep in a long time but that doesn’t mean I’m not doing it. Meal prep has become a little less high maintenance these days, but it’s still getting done. I’m not fancy. I don’t create recipes on my own. If I’m doing some creating, I’m just throwing stuff together we have in the fridge and making it work. There’s nothing creative happening in my kitchen. I know the…
