Walk (or run) a mile a day

Walk (or run) a mile a day with me.  I’ve been pushing my Together We Move Group really hard but I think the internet has been hiding my messages.  Streaking was not really my thing but this year I decided to give it a try.  I really needed to get back into running and a streak was exactly something I needed to give me a push.

I’ve started a group and we’ve been on a streak since October 1.  But now is the perfect time for you join in the group and walk or run a mile a day.  I just wanted to share some reasons why a run or walk streak is great!

  1.  Joining in on the streak just gives you an extra push to get just a little bit more active a day.  There isn’t a specific amount of time that is required.  You just have to commit to running or walking a dedicated mile per day.  It’s 15-20 minutes that you are investing in your health.
  2. The streak will help with time management.  We always say we don’t have time for things or we just can’t make it work.  This will teach you a little bit about prioritizing and making time for your healthy choice for yourself.  The longer you get into the streak, the harder it is to break because it’s just become a normal part of your day.
  3. This would be a great chance to get together with friends and just walk around the neighborhood.  Use the time as your social minute or take it as a more rigorous workout.  The most important thing is that you get moving so do whatever it takes to get you motivated.
  4. One mile can lead to so much more. Small steps lead to big strides.  If you can commit to one mile, then maybe later on two miles will just come easy and so on and so on.  This could be a huge turning point in your life.
  5. It won’t hurt anything for you to try it.

Everyone who has been in the group has great positive feedback.  It’s a non-judgment group of people who are supporting each other.  If you’re interested in joining, leave a comment and I’ll add you to the group.  The more the merrier.

I’m on day 161 of my streak, how far do you think you can make it in a streak?

Holiday indulgence gulit

Holiday indulgence gulit

Holiday indulgence guilt comes full force this time year, but I don’t want anyone to feel down about wanting to enjoy it.  The holidays bring cooler weather, gingerbread lattes, parties, alcoholic drinks, cakes, and pies.  I don’t want anyone feeling like they can’t have any of these things. My weakness has been the holiday flavors of coffee at Dunkin Donuts. Enjoy all the holiday goodness because it’s about living a lifestyle.  No one’s lifestyle should ONLY include chicken breast, broccoli, and basic rice.  I understand there are times for this type of daily living like during a training cycle or something…

Meal prep with the pressure cooker

Meal prep with the pressure cooker

It’s meal prep Sunday!  I hope everyone had a great weekend. I haven’t been a productive human today.  I enjoyed the peace and quiet in my house and napped on the couch and then watched the Cowboys lose a football game.  This game was not a good look for my Dallas Cowboys, but I will still root them on. I haven’t been blogging so I know that you’ve missed my meal prep post.  These posts are helpful not because you want to see what I’m eating, but so you can have different ideas on what to cook for your own…

Should you share your goals?

Should you share your goals?

I know it’s been a while since I posted on the blog.  I once read somewhere that you should focus on one goal at a time and my one goal for half this year was running a marathon.  Now I’m ready to move on to my next goal which is getting my blog back in order. I’m all about setting goals.  I encourage other people to set some goals to keep them on track. I love goals.  People do share their goals to have accountability.  Sharing and accountability are a great thing.  Now I’m starting to wonder, should you share your…

I quit the Habenero Hundred 20k

I quit the Habenero Hundred 20k

Yesterday I posted about the Habenero Hundred 20k and how I quit the race.  Luckily, I was able to jump back in because I learned a lot from this experience.  All week, I talked about this race. Excitement was in the air.  I shed tears on Monday because when I went to sign up for the race the 20K was sold out and I had to “settle” for the 10k.  Ten minutes before the race started, I was able to upgrade my race to the 20K. Ironically, I quit the race at the 10K mark and I just walked away.…

Food Cravings Hurting Your Diet? Sleep Might Be the Answer

Hey all.  Yesterday I was so sick and couldn’t make my blog post.  Today, I thought I drop a guest blog post on you about sleep and how it affects your diet. I hope you find the information helpful because I sure did.  I’ve noticed a pattern in my sleeping and if you follow me on the socials you know my sleep isn’t so great on the weekends.  You know why?  That’s when I Netflix and chill HARD.  This really got me thinking about how sleep and diet are connected.  It’s always been one of my biggest weight loss tips:…

About last night’s Made for More movie

Last night I went to see the Rachel Hollis Presents: Made for More movie featuring Rachel Hollis’ two day Rise conference. For my birthday, I bought myself, Girl, Wash Your Face on Audible (and two days later a physical copy of the book).  It was the best present I could have gotten myself because it was a life-changing experience.  I don’t talk about too many books on my blog unless they’ve really made an impact on me. This is a book that you should read.  The book focuses on not letting your past hold you back from your future.  Rachel Hollis…

You are perfect

You are perfect

Happy Tuesday!  You are perfect the way you are. I don’t know about you, but I unintentionally on the “sly” say negative things about myself.  I find myself saying, “she had a baby around the same time as me and she’s doing this.” There’s so much focus on one moment in time and not enough focus on the bigger picture.  To make a whole, you must have the parts even the parts that aren’t so pretty. We live in a different world of perfectly curated pictures and other social media posts that make it seem like other people have their…

Lazy meal prep is still meal prep

Lazy meal prep is still meal prep

Hello all!  It’s been a long week but in the best way possible.  I’ve been inspired and motivated to do things.  I’m trying to do little changes to help me back in my flow.  This week I did do a meal prep but it more of a lazy meal prep.  (I’ll be doing some blogging about lazy meal prep very soon.) This week I had enough time to do a little meal prep so I did the things that were easy.  I stocked the fridge with the usual fruits: blueberries, strawberries and this week’s new addition, watermelon.  It’s been my…

No meal prep this week

No meal prep this week

There was basically no meal prep this week.  I’ve been trying to get to the blog all week, but it’s always been the last thing.  I want to start off this post by thanking everyone for the birthday wishes.  Seeing all of those messages made me feel very special.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Last week I had everything together, this week it’s just been a struggle.  It has been an odd week.  My birthday was Monday so we went out to eat.  Tuesday was just a rush filled day and I got some fish tacos from…

Finished #StreakingwiththeCoolKids

Finished #StreakingwiththeCoolKids

On the first day of June, I set out to run or walk a mile every day for the month with the #StreakingWithTheCoolKids challenge. My motivation to run has been completely gone because I’ve been having some trouble with running since having the baby. I’m slower and it’s frustrating. I guess the only reason it’s so upsetting is that I know what I’m capable of doing. I thought I would come back stronger and faster than I did before, but I was wrong. There’s been some pain with the running too but I’ve seemed to have worked through those issues…
