Tips for running in the rain

Happy Spring! April showers bring May flowers, so that you might be heading out for some runs in the rain. Running in the rain is something I once hated, but after learning how to prepare for running in the rain, it’s not an obstacle anymore. Will I always choose to go running in the rain? No. But if it’s safe, running in the rain will always be on the table.   The funny thing is I never think twice about running a race in the rain, but when it comes to training runs, there always seems to be a mental block.…

Spring break and breaking goals in March (Monthly Wrap-Up #3 2023)

It’s time to recap March 2023 and all the good things that came throughout the month. Honestly, March was a quiet month. I didn’t have a busy work month, which could be better when running a small business. I had the opportunity to spend more time with family, work on other projects, and take much-needed rest. I ran my last half marathon of the season and achieved a mega goal. All in all, March was a great month.  What’s up with the running and wellness? Physically and mentally, I haven’t felt this strong in a long time. For the first…

Updated F1 USGP General Admission Tips

Updated F1 USGP General Admission Tips

The new Formula 1 season is underway, and the tickets are selling fast for all the grand prix races this year. I will be attending the F1 USGP in general admission again this year, and I want to help you out if you’re going to the grand prix for the first time.  I am updating my previous post on tips for general admission at the F1 United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX. There are some things I would like to add to the list, but that post is still relevant. Start there and…

Simple things I did to change my running …

Simple things I did to change my running mindset

My running mindset has been in the trash can.  I got too comfortable and complacent, leaving me with a weird running mindset.  I’ve never been the runner to win a race, and PRs are far behind me. I’ve been running for a long time. I’m not a fast runner; I’m a fun runner. I enjoy being around people, seeing the sights, and crossing the finish line. (My love for getting a medal has waned over the years, but I appreciate a good quality medal.) I started running in 2012, and I’m a “bit” slower ten years later. Lately, the slowness…

Finding motivation in February (Monthly wrap-up #2 2023)

Finding motivation in February (Monthly wrap-up #2 2023)

It’s time for another monthly wrap-up. I don’t know what happened to me, but I got seriously motivated in February to tackle some goals. I do know what happened. In January, I ran the Hot Chocolate 10K, and I wouldn’t say I liked how I felt when I finished. I felt down about my performance, and I wanted to do better. It’s just like the Sister Hazel song, Change Your Mind. “If you want to be somebody else, If you’re tired of fighting battles with yourself. If you want to be somebody else, Change your mind.” I’ve been living in my…

Starting off the year right (Monthly wrap-up #1 2023)

Starting off the year right (Monthly wrap-up #1 2023)

The January Wrap-Up is coming in a bit late. Last year, I tried to do a weekly wrap-up, but it became overwhelming weekly, and it eventually failed. This year, I’m committing to making my blog one of my leading social media, so I’ve taken the time to evaluate what is doable. In the past, I was too ambitious about what I could accomplish. I am setting a more attainable goal to get the blog moving in the right direction. So here I am telling you the content you didn’t expect is coming in LATE. (I hate to admit it, but…

How does Ultima Beauty Collagen + Electrolytes fulfill hydration needs?

“Disclaimer: I received Ultima Beauty Collagen + Electrolytes to review as part of being a BibRave Ambassador. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Ambassador, and check out BibRave.com to review, find, and write race reviews!” It’s hard for me to take my daily supplements; anything to make it easier to get them in is A++ in my book. Another problem I have during the winter season is staying hydrated. The cooler, less humid temps have me reaching for my water bottle less often. Having some flavored water beverages is a big win to keep me hydrated. Dehydration during the winter…

November reads: Fantasy and love stories filled my list

My November reads. I had a solid month of reading for November with six books. Let me give you a quick rundown of my reading month, and maybe you’ll find something you like! What are you currently reading? I was most excited about the book: The World We Make by N.K. Jemisin The follow-up to The City We Became is the second book in the duology. I loved the writing style, current event tie-ins, and the world-building that happened in the first book. Of course, this carried over into the second book, and I was excited to see how the story…

The truth about my half marathon training this year

My training in 2022 turned out to be less than desirable. I finished 2021 on such a high, but I couldn’t get that to carry over into the new year. What was the problem? I can’t nail down just one thing, but I was burnt out on training, family life got busy, and the motivation to do my best and better than before wasn’t in me.  I spent 2021 getting into the running groove to prepare for a half marathon. I spent most of the year building my base for training. My half-marathon goal race turned out to be a…

Fall running + the races I’m running to end out 2022

September came quickly. So quickly, when August 29th stared back at me on the calendar, I realized I had signed up for no races for the rest of the year. Running was not on my mind this summer. After I ran my last race, I put running on the back burner to enjoy the summer. I still ran but took time to back away from training or any thought. I may have pushed running out of the forefront over the summer, but that didn’t mean I stopped running. I did when I caught covid, but that’s another story. Maybe I…

Summer reading in the month of June

Summer reading in the month of June

It’s time to recap the books I read during June. I had a great month of reading, mainly due to Tot having an hour of swimming lessons every day which I took as my reading time. I am a mystery and murder book gal, but I decided to read some lighter reads for summer. I read many books because I like to borrow books from the library, and all my holds came back.  Basically, I read my entire summer TBR list in the month of June.  I am currently taking book recommendations to finish off my summer reading books.  Please…
