Time to change up the habits

It’s time for this mama to change up the habits. I’ve basically been training for a marathon since last August, and now I just need a break. I have been on a training schedule for so long, which has made it difficult to do anything else in life. It’s time to change up the habits. I just want to workout to just workout and not be an on schedule. I don’t want to need to worry about getting things done early on a Friday night because I have a four-hour long run Saturday morning. I don’t want to worry about…

Mom works out The Flying Pig Marathon

Mom works out The Flying Pig Marathon

It’s been a long two weeks of traveling, but I’m glad to be telling you about my experience The Flying Pig Marathon. If you’ve been a long time reader, you might remember I attempted Flying Pig three years ago but switched to the half because I found out I was pregnant. I went back to claim my marathon that I missed three years ago. I don’t want to bury the lead. I had a FABULOUS time at the Flying Pig marathon. Flying Pig is a race weekend for everyone. There are toddler races to big kids; there’s a one-miler, a…

Healthy eating and travel: can it work?

Healthy eating and travel: can it work?

I’ve been traveling for the past week, and I’m still going. I’m not sure if travel and healthy eating can go in the same sentence, but I’m going to try to make some sense of the whole thing. Situation #1: You hardly travel and decide to live your life and not care about what you’re eating. Situation #2: You travel frequently, but maintain some balance but fall into the trap of “it’s not like I’m HERE every day” so you can enjoy so local cuisine. Situation #3: You don’t care either way.  This person is probably not reading this blog…

Mom works on re-introducing herself

Mom works on re-introducing herself

I’m Angela and I’m working on re-introducing myself to you. I’m just a woman who lost 200 pounds (a combined total of 500 pounds with my husband) and fell in love with running who then fell into motherhood. I learned along the way that healthy living encompasses the mind, body, and soul. That’s where I am today. Trying to balance it all and encourage others to tackle the journey they think is impossible. Most importantly, I am a mom to a beautiful 2-year-old who is referred to as Tiny Tot on this blog. Weight loss is the catalyst to it…

One tough mother can. Motherhood isn’t the …

One tough mother can. Motherhood isn’t the end.

Sometimes I feel like women people say they want a family or are pregnant, there’s just a bunch of negativity that automatically comes back.  The world is suddenly filled with all the things you “can’t” and “won’t” want to do.  It’s more than unfair that people expected me to give up my dreams or dim my light due to the fact I was a popping put a baby. Why as a woman are we challenged by what we want to do when having a child, but a man isn’t? One tough mother can find a way to find her “all.”…

The Flying Pig marathon training update

The Flying Pig marathon training update

It’s time for the marathon training update. The Flying Pig Marathon is two weeks away, so the peak of the training cycle is now complete. For this training cycle, I hired a running coach to help guide me through the marathon training process. Hiring the coach helped me push through some of those tough times and gave me some excellent accountability. Plus, if I had questions, someone could always give me the answers. How has marathon training gone for me this time around? I feel like there has been a struggle this time around. March turned out to be a…

Focusing too much on losing weight?

Focusing too much on losing weight?

There’s nothing wrong with a little bit of focus, but sometimes it can get in the way.  Is it possible to have too much emphasis on a weight loss journey?  I may be living proof of the point.  The initial weight loss journey was strict.  I stayed on plan all the time because I wanted to lose weight so bad.  I lost the weight, but there were moments when I felt like I wasn’t living life.  In retrospect, I see I was a living a rigorous regiment and maybe that it was I needed to get over the hump of…

Healthy eating and the toddler

Healthy eating and the toddler

Healthy eating for the toddler just doesn’t seem to be happening.  It’s been a huge struggle in my life lately because she’s only into bread, crackers, cheese, or macaroni and cheese.  The things she once ate, she doesn’t eat anymore.  I don’t really know what happened but my child has taken the wrong turn in her eating journey. And she’s adamant about it too.  She will just not eat the food that is placed in front of her. She will not eat all day. She’s a trooper. The food will sit out in hopes of her getting hungry and wanting to…

Weekly Meal Plan: Chicken in the Instapot

Weekly Meal Plan: Chicken in the Instapot

The meal plan hasn’t really been something I’ve been talking about, but we’ve still been cooking it up.  I don’t always eat the meals for dinner, it might pop us as a lunch thing, but at least it gets eaten, right? I love Indian food. My town only has one place to eat Indian food but I don’t always make it out. This week I decided it was time to try some Butter Chicken in the instapot. Spoiler alert: the chicken turned out great. I used both chicken breast and thighs.  And it was served with a side of coconut…

Friday file: Sunday night edition

Friday file: Sunday night edition

I know, I’m sorry.   I left the blog vacant for a week because I’ve just been tired.  Last weekend was a huge running weekend for me.  That kind of threw my whole week off because I ran both Saturday and Sunday. I wasn’t at home to get stuff done around the house or get ready for work.  That one day of prep kind of pushed everything off.  Daily life has been busy this week. I ran two half marathons back to back.  I’ve been working with a running coach because I am really improving.  I see progress which is really…
