I went to a Backstreet Boys concert and had a good time

Wait!  I know you think the only thing I do is sports related things but you’re wrong.  The thing is I love food, I love to travel and I love to just do fun things.  The fun travel and things I’ve mostly done this year have involved running.  This time I went somewhere and I didn’t run…even though I wanted to so badly but I have to take a break sometime, right?  So I went to the Backstreet Boys concert in Austin on Sunday night!  I have a lot of stuff going on in life so it was kind of hard to get pumped up about this until I was actually there.

Of course the firs thing we had to do when we got there was buy a t-shirt!  In the past, we got shirts with BSB faces as big as we could them, now that we’re older I don’t think that’s a look we can pull off.

When I got there, I was ready to JAM like the 32 year old I am! Opening acts include: Baylee Littrell (BSB Brian’s little son who SANG his FACE OFF!), B5 (big yawn!) and DJ Pauly D (Yeah Buddy!). was wicked excited for the Backstreet Boys AND DJ Pauly D.  I don’t think Missy was expecting me to be excited about Pauly D but I was wicked excited. I was little upset that Pauly D didn’t KILL it because that’s what I expected, but he raised the roof a little bit. He had us all fist pumping.

After Pauly D left the stage it was close to 9 pm and that is usually my bed time. It wasn’t sure if I was going to make it through the whole concert. I get really cranky like a 2 year old when I’m tired so I had to give Missy the warning before we went. I decided I needed a snack break before BSB came on! Glad I did! Let me tell you, I had a bit of anxiety sitting there and watching people eating their nachos. That use to be my thing going to concerts eating my nachos and drinking my whatever beverage. This was a huge step in my new life, but I handled it. But I did have a mild freak out for about 10 minutes, but once I admitted that it gave me anxiety I was fine. I wasn’t even hungry because I had just eaten. Like I said, I’ll always be overweight on the inside no matter what I look like on the outside.

And then there was the main event.  BSB time.  Before I show you the pictures for the concert, I must comment on this one.  This is the dance you do at concerts when you’re 30+ years old and are jamming out to hits from high school in college.  At first I was going to talk about this girl, but I decided against because this was the same exact thing I did for 2 hours straight while BSB was on stage.  This is the 30 something concert dance!

The concert was great! I don’t think many people had listened to the new album because when they played those songs, people went to the bathroom. They are moving toward a new sound that doesn’t have them shaking their booty every five seconds which I actually love because that’s more my speed as a 30 something. But it doesn’t lend itself well to arena concerts. It would be more a intimate setting, even though this place was not big by any means. They still have their moves and can really sing. I am super excited for the BSB future…and there will be a movie! A MOVIE! Missy and I squealed so loud when we saw that and everyone kind of chuckled at us but who cares! We were partying like it was 1999!

So what’s your favorite band from back in the day?

Let’s have pumpkin pancakes for Labor Day

Let’s have pumpkin pancakes for Labor Day

It’s Labor Day so we’re going to break away from our normal routine. We usually have eggs and oatmeal in our house for breakfast and it’s probably my most favorite meal of the day. But I think I found a good alternative a yummy alternative for my oatmeal fix. So let’s all have pumpkin pancakes tomorrow morning. Here is what you’ll need: What goes in these pancakes: 1/4c egg whites 1/4c yogurt (I used a vanilla greek yogurt) 1/8c unsweetened applesauce 1/4c pumpkin 1/4c whole wheat flour (or your choice of flour) 1/4 tsp. each: pumpkin pie spice, stevia, baking…

99 days until my FIRST marathon

99 days until my FIRST marathon

You’re probably thinking: “When did this become a full on running blog?” I love to run folks and it’s just a HUGE part of me.  I thought I would give everyone an update on my marathon training. I am using a training plan from the No Meat Athlete.  I paid for the plan which was something like $40 and I really think it was the best investment in my future.  It’s not a training plan for a specific time, it’s just to finish strong and get to the race strong and healthy. While also training for my marathon I”m trying…

Life without my hubby…and some new food

Life without my hubby…and some new food

My husband had to leave me to deal with some family obligations and it hasn’t been a fun time for me. I wish I was able to go but life got in the way and by life I mean work. I’ve been spending a lot of time alone with the dogs. It really stinks because the hubby does a lot of things to help me out and I’ve had to do those things myself. Oh the horror, right? I thought I would give you a little insight into my life sans the hubby. 1. I’ve had to do laundry and…

Why I stopped logging my food

Why I stopped logging my food

About a month ago I decided to stop logging my food. This was a hard decision for me because I’ve logged my food every day since we started our weight loss journey. But that was the thing, I logged my food on my weight loss journey and that’s really not the journey I am on anymore. I can proudly say I’ve been maintaining my weight for a year and half. People said it couldn’t be done and there were a lot of haters out there, but I’m still beating the odds every day. That’s not to say I haven’t gained…

Five things I love right now: stretching, running, television, music and snacks

Reading the site you always see about my weight loss journey and all the things that come along with it and it’s left people wondering what else am I about. This is just a little something that you can find out a little bit more about me. Yes, some of it is still exercise related but that is a PART of me too. 1. I’m obsessed with this song. It’s hit my running playlist and just a song I listen to in the car! I watched Princesses of Long Island and this was the theme song. Every week I said…

Easy weekday meal: Pork and apples

Easy weekday meal: Pork and apples

When we started our weight loss journey we had to cut a lot of foods from our diet, including red meat. We just don’t eat a lot of it around our house. We went on a serious campaign of fish, ground turkey and chicken and we ate these things everyday. It can get a little boring and monotonous. We stuck with this habit until a couple of weeks ago while we were grocery shopping. We both stood there at the butcher counter and asked, “Why aren’t we eating pork?” Pork gets a bad wrap in my opinion. It’s the other…

Road trippin’ across the deep south

Road trippin’ across the deep south

I’ve been out of town on a road trip with my momma. This time last year our family was dealing with a serious health issue with my mom and this year I’m on a roadtrip with her. How freakin’ awesome is that? We went on a tour of the deep south: Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and back to Texas! It was a good time. Plus, I am a southern girl. I wanted to deny it for many years, but I love the south. I think going to Ole Miss really changed my view of the South. I missed the Georgia…

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday!

I had grand plans for the blog this week, but guess what? I failed to execute those plans. If you follow me on Facebook, Instagram, and twitter you know I’ve been making a road trip across the deep south! Immediately when we got here on Wednesday evening, I went for a run. Marathon training never stops! I will tell you one thing, I’ve been incredibly tired. Sleep can throw off your weight loss and healthy lifestyle. Sleep helps your body recover and repair, so if you’re not getting enough your body will not function properly. When I’m tired, I get…

Notes on the weekend

Notes on the weekend

This weekend was pretty chill for me because I didn’t feel like doing anything. Maybe because I’m going to be going out of town on Wednesday and I just wanted to spent some chill time with the hubs and pups. Plus, my body was begging me to stop. I had been working out for two weeks straight without a rest day so I really needed to take the break. It was a steady push to Sunday for me! Friday: I decided to work from home on Friday which was the best thing ever! This was the first week the training…

Notes on Willie’s birthday and homemade frozen yogurt

Willie’s birthday was on Monday.  He’s growing into an old  wiser man!  He’s so low key that he didn’t want to do anything which made it hard for me.  I always want to make moments in his life super special but he’s happy with toned down and low key.  I guess it’s the time we spend together that makes it special, right? When I asked him what he wanted for his birthday, he said nothing. I wasn’t going to let that fly so I went searching for the perfect card and perfect present. The card search was a lot harder…
