Happy Halloween and the Corner Store Run

I’m not really a big fan of Halloween.  I don’t like dressing up and I’m not a huge fan of candy.  I never really enjoyed it as a young child either.  I don’t like to be scared or spooked and I know that’s only one side of the holiday.  It’s just not for me.  I love others enjoy it but it’s really not the thing for me.  I must be hard wired wrong or something, right?  Maybe this will change in the future, but I may be growing a child that might not like it either.

Happy Halloween! I love giving out the candy to the kids! I'm not a big candy eater so having it in our house is not tempting to us. But I want to know what your favorite Halloween candy?

Maybe I’m just bitter due to the lack of trick or treaters year after year.  That might be the case.  Children just don’t trick or treat anymore and I’m left with a lot of candy I’m not going to eat.

I know people really like the candy aspect of it and there will be candy for days.  Halloween doesn’t really just last for one day.  It’s kind of the gift that keeps on giving until you A. finish the candy or B. throw it out.  So I thought I would help you out with a few candy cheat sheets to make you feel just a little bit better about your candy choices.

REMEMBER IT’S OK TO ENJOY THESE TYPES OF THINGS IN MODERATION. Don’t deprive yourself of things you might want because you’re going to end up binging later. Well that’s not a proven fact, but you’ll keep thinking about it and obsessing about it. Just save yourself the headache and enjoy a little bit of it and get it out of your head.

Anyway, this past weekend was a good one. I’m proud of myself for getting out of the house. First, Willie and I did the Corner Store Run. Of course, I walked and I had a really great time. It’s a great thing for families and the fair afterward was pretty awesome. Anything that gets me walking is a plus. The most important thing was I walked 3.1 miles.

There were a lot of things I couldn’t eat but it was free stuff galore. Hot dogs, coconut water, Aquafina bottled water, Monster energy drinks, Red Bull, chips (I saw kids diving for Cheetos while I was just looking for the pretzels), and lots of whoopie pies. I wish I could have enjoyed a whoopie pie but I couldn’t. The sweet stuff seems to bother me a little bit more during pregnancy. Normally, I would have missed this event because I would have been out of town racing so it was really nice to go and just have a good time.

Date night with @fueledxrunning. We're watching Star Wars: The Force Awakens. There's always something great about watching a movie outdoors! #webeatfat #setx #beaumont #couples #marriedlife #married

I was completely wiped out after that but we did manage to hit the outdoor movie that evening. It was a really great time but it got a little chilly in the night. I’m glad I remembered to bring a blanket…and bug spray to help me survive.

Be safe this Halloween.

Do you like Halloween? What is your favorite candy?

Friday Five: Running, baby and everything else

Friday Five: Running, baby and everything else

Hey everyone! It’s been a long week and I’ve spent most of it working, eating or sleeping. I’ve become the most uninteresting person in the world. I had big plans for the blog this week and I missed my Thursday blogging. I’m trying to get at least 3 days a week on the blog so I’ll be making up for that right now. The sleeping has been so bad this week that I put an air mattress to sleep on at work during my break. I haven’t done a Friday Five in a long time and I should probably get…

Baby vs. the blog and the baby shower

Baby vs. the blog and the baby shower

I’m horrible with change.  It’s really something I hate to admit.  I require structure and boundaries.  I’m finding it difficult to blog for many reasons.  Obviously, I’m going through some serious life changes and I’m really trying to get my stuff together. I am really trying to crowd my blog with baby related things, but the truth is: that is the only thing on my mind. The point is if I’m going to keep blogging on the regular some things are going to have to change and it’s time for me to admit the truth.  Things are different and I’m…

WIAW: A typical day of eating

WIAW: A typical day of eating

Want to know what I eat in a day? Today is your lucky day because I’m going to share. I should have shared this a while ago because a TON of people would e-mail me asking to me to make videos about what I eat in a day. I will tell you my eating habits haven’t changed much since I’ve been preggers or been on my weight loss journey. This is pretty straight on as before. I may just eat a little bit more on some days than others, AND I might want to eat some pizza little more often.…

Tips for training for your first marathon

Tips for training for your first marathon

I’m currently on running reserve but I still think about running almost every day.  I have a lot of friends running marathons for the first time this fall and it got me thinking about my first marathon…and then the official first marathon.  I wanted to share some marathon training tips for your first marathon. Realize that training for a marathon is time-consuming.  It’s not just something you can blow off and it takes some serious commitment and there is a sacrifice of time.  If you don’t start off knowing this, you’re going to be in for a rude awakening. The…

So we’re having a…

Blogging has taken a back seat in my life because I just haven’t been feeling well. My planning day for the blog was spent resting. It just hasn’t been a 100% week for me. I hope y’all can understand. Baby is fine and growing well. I know everyone wants to know the baby’s gender: it’s a girl! There were some problems with the rafflecopter so I’m going to have to pick a winner the old fashioned way. I’m feeling a lot better today so hopefully this trend will continue. I’ve still been doing my workouts but a person can only…

Guess the gender, win a HEADSWEATS trucker

Guess the gender, win a HEADSWEATS trucker

I thought it was time to have a little fun on the blog.  If you missed the memo, I’m pregnant.  We will find out the gender of the baby on Monday evening, so I thought it would be cool to play a little guessing game. To win a lovely Headsweats trucker hat, you have to correctly guess the gender of the baby and then your name will be put in the drawing to win the hat.  The contest will end Wednesday, August 17 at 12:01 am. These hats are my favorite so I thought I would share with you. Meanwhile,…

Pregnancy after weight loss played with my head

Pregnancy after weight loss played with my head

This is a very hard blog post for me to write.  In fact, I’ve been putting it off for a LONG time.  I took a period off from blogging when I found out I was pregnant because what I wanted to write about I couldn’t.  It was a secret that I couldn’t share…yet.  I aim to be as transparent as possible with my blog when I finally decide to talk about something.  This is my Thinking Out Loud post.  This one is going to be hard. When I found out I was pregnant, I was happy but at the same…

My pledge to my blog readers

My pledge to my blog readers

It’s time for me to face reality.  I’ve failed all of you.  Once upon a time I planned out blog posts.  I talked about relevant topics.  I actually put the effort in and then something happened.  I started traveling more and doing quick fixes.  I stopped actually making time for the blog in respects to self-improvement, eating and just overall fitness.  I wish I could say planning was the problem, but I know I felt like I lost my voice along the way. Willie and I gained a lot of publicity in a short period of time, again, which kind…

Divulgence of kale & everything else I’ve been eating

I know kale is one of those things that is super healthy for us and we’re supposed to want to eat it.  I’ve done my fair share of talking about kale myself. I have to admit, I don’t like making kale.  I almost want to say that I don’t like kale but that wouldn’t be the truth.  I do like kale…when someone else prepares it. I can’t seem to make the stuff taste good on my own, so I prefer to buy the stuff at the store. Kale is to taste good and it’s just not something I’ve mastered.  I’ll…

Notes from a birthday weekend

Notes from a birthday weekend

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes and all the congratulations on my big secret.  I had a wonderful weekend thanks to my husband.  It’s probably the best birthday I’ve ever had.  I know that’s a big statement but it true. Willie took me to the Astros baseball game. It was a great game. The roof was closed and we had awesome seats. I had a really fun time. I’m kind of ruined now with baseball games now because now we’re always going to need to sit in those seats. The Astros lost the game, but they put up a…
