Post Valentine’s Day Things I Love

I dropped the ball on my Valentine’s Day blog because I was wrapped up with other things. I might have subconsciously avoided blogging about it too because I don’t really care for Valentine’s Day. It’s been a day that has been HORRIBLE for me so I try to stay clear of it all together.

But I did have the best Valentine EVER which made this the best Valentine’s Day I’ve ever had! I do hope that everyone had an enjoyable Valentine’s Day filled with lots of love.

I thought I would take the time to talk about some of the things I’m loving right now, besides being a new mom. (I’ve been trying to stay clear of the baby things on the blog, but I think I’m going to have a dedicated day to talk about baby stuff. I can’t deny that she’s a part of my world and there are just some things I want to talk about.)

I love being able to workout, again. For me going that long without working out was hard. Exercise is the place where I can let my stress go and that’s the longest I’ve gone without working out since I started working out in 2011. And I won’t lie, I’ve been struggling with a little PPD and the exercise thing has helped bring that back in check for me, a lot.

Previously I had stated I wouldn’t run until April. Well, that lasted about 3 days. What can I say? I love running. I just needed to get out there and sweat. I am taking things slowly and right now I’m using the Couch to 10K app from Zenlabs ($3.99) to ease back into running. I am loosely following the plan. I don’t hate the app, I just wish I could run more consistently. I know I’m working toward getting back to the point, though so it doesn’t bother me that much.

UntitledThe best part of getting out there now is I get to take Baby G with me sometimes.

As far as food is going, I’m still enjoying my frozen meals until I get the hang of things and have a little bit of time to fix the food I want. It works out fine because it’s portion controlled and that’s all that matters. But when I do get out, I’ve been chowing down on the Panera BBQ Chicken Salad. It’s always been one of my favorites. Plus, I feel like if you go to Panera you get more bang for your buck when you get a salad. The place can be a little pricey.

Headsweats hat

And I got a new collection of trucker hats and visors this past weekend. I am wicked excited to representing Headsweats again this year. Everyone knows I’m a huge fan of the trucker hat and all the visors. I never run or do anything without them. I can’t wait to take these out for some runs…and get back to those trails one day soon. And I can’t talk about Headsweats without telling you that using code: WEBEATFAT gets you 25% off your order at headsweats.com! Go get yourself a hat!

That’s my post valentine’s day love list!

What did you do to celebrate Valentine’s Day?  Did you get any good gifts?

Setting my goals for 2017

Setting my goals for 2017

I’ve always said the best way to achieve your goals is to write those goals down and revisit them from time to time.  This will be my place to share my goals with you and you will hopefully keep me accountable to some point.  Things in my life are different now and it’s weird how quickly things can change.  In the past, I would have been talking about collecting states on my marathon quest or that new distance I was hoping to tackle. I feel like I’m in a place of starting over and I don’t mind it at all.…

Friday Five: Turkey burgers, headbands, working out & more

Friday Five: Turkey burgers, headbands, working out & more

Happy Friday!  I hope all is well in the world with you.  I felt like I had a really productive morning but then the afternoon seems a little less eventful.  I guess you could say I spent it on the couch sleeping. I thought I should sit down and blog since I’m feeling up to it and I’m well rested. So there’s a blog and some hot chocolate…and here I am. I think it’s a good way to spend a Friday. 1. Today I’m officially 38 weeks which means our baby girl should be making her grand debut soon.  FYI:…

Enjoy your Thanksgiving

Enjoy your Thanksgiving

It’s Thanksgiving week so that means family gatherings, football and lots of food.  Enjoy your day and don’t sweat the small the stuff.  This should be a day to celebrate and should be stress-free. My day started off with the Turkey Trot.  We all walked the 5K. I’ve written about Thanksgiving in the past and posted healthy side dishes.  If there are healthy options at your table then eat them and enjoy them.  If you feel like you need to provide those side dishes, then eat up and enjoy them. I just want everyone to enjoy the time.  I feel…

Friday Five: Running, baby and everything else

Friday Five: Running, baby and everything else

Hey everyone! It’s been a long week and I’ve spent most of it working, eating or sleeping. I’ve become the most uninteresting person in the world. I had big plans for the blog this week and I missed my Thursday blogging. I’m trying to get at least 3 days a week on the blog so I’ll be making up for that right now. The sleeping has been so bad this week that I put an air mattress to sleep on at work during my break. I haven’t done a Friday Five in a long time and I should probably get…

Chicago Marathon Weekend

Chicago Marathon Weekend

I’m not a bad blogger, I promise.  I’m just a pregnant woman who moves a little a bit slower than normal.  Honestly, I usually work on my blog at work but our internet at work has been horrible the past month…it takes me all day to my work and there’s no time for blogging.  Long story short, I’m still here. This past weekend we traveled to Chicago for the Chicago Marathon.  Obviously, I didn’t get to run for my charity this year, but Willie did.  I’m sad to say that he didn’t finish the marathon.  I’m proud of him for…

Tips for training for your first marathon

Tips for training for your first marathon

I’m currently on running reserve but I still think about running almost every day.  I have a lot of friends running marathons for the first time this fall and it got me thinking about my first marathon…and then the official first marathon.  I wanted to share some marathon training tips for your first marathon. Realize that training for a marathon is time-consuming.  It’s not just something you can blow off and it takes some serious commitment and there is a sacrifice of time.  If you don’t start off knowing this, you’re going to be in for a rude awakening. The…

Notes from a birthday weekend

Notes from a birthday weekend

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes and all the congratulations on my big secret.  I had a wonderful weekend thanks to my husband.  It’s probably the best birthday I’ve ever had.  I know that’s a big statement but it true. Willie took me to the Astros baseball game. It was a great game. The roof was closed and we had awesome seats. I had a really fun time. I’m kind of ruined now with baseball games now because now we’re always going to need to sit in those seats. The Astros lost the game, but they put up a…

Birthday confession: the secret I’ve never told

Birthday confession: the secret I’ve never told

Today is my birthday. It’s my 35th year of life and this is kind of a big birthday for me. I am absolutely living my best life now and in a place I never thought I would be. I never would have thought I would have accomplished so much or inspired so many people. It’s just all a blessing. I woke up this morning not wanting to get out and workout but the hardest part is getting out of the door. My first official act of my 35th birthday was a jog/walk of 3.33 miles.  So now it’s time for…

My biggest motivation

My biggest motivation

There’s one thing I’ve learned about motivation over the past few weeks.  In my case, I definitely need that dangling carrot to chase. When I was on the weight loss journey, the carrot was of course losing the weight.  Motivation came in the mirror and just being able to move around better. Since losing the weight and experiencing a whole new world, I’ve constantly been on the go.  I’ve been running these races and traveling across the country with goals…and then all of the sudden I’m not filled with that.  That became my normal and all of the sudden it’s…
