The chocolate cupcake Luna Bar has been found.

That’s right, I’m blogging about a LUNA BAR. I’ve been in search of this sucker for a long time. I’ve seen people talk about it on their blogs. I cried because I couldn’t find one. Ok, maybe not that bad, but I did want to try it. I was starting to think it was just a figment of my imagination until yesterday.

I finally found the choco cupcake @lunabar. Too bad there was only two left. And I had to write a blog post about it! #snack #instasnack #fitfluential #healthyeats

I found it! I found it at Target. Apparently, it’s a hot commodity too because only two remained on the shelf. One for me and one for Missy. She’s been searching for it too but she wasn’t as lucky as me!

FYI: I have no skin in the game here, I just love these bars and I eat them. I’m really not trying to push a product on you. I’m just happy to have found the bar!

Luna Bars are the whole nutrition bar for women but that doesn’t mean men can’t eat them too.  The bars are gluten free, 70% organic and has enough fiber to help keep you full!

I know you’re wondering, does this thing really taste like a chocolate cupcake? I am happy to report it does. I was actually really surprised. The frosting was really smooth and silky. The bar wasn’t hard and had a cake like texture. It was really great! This is probably the best Luna Bar I’ve had since honey salted pretzel.

Now I have a bigger problem on my hand, I don’t know where I’m going to find more bars. They are back ordered online. I love Luna Bars because they keep me full and meet my macros. I usually eat them pre-workout when I need the fuel.

Just in case the chocolate cupcake flavor evades you too, try some of my other favorites: caramel nut brownie, iced oatmeal raisin and honey salted pretzel. Those are the ones I clear out the shelves buy every week but there are a lot of great flavors.  I’m a creature of habit and what I like is what I like.

Have you tried Luna Bars?  What is your favorite flavor? Do you think you would like chocolate cupcake?

Do you have meal prepping questions?

Do you have meal prepping questions?

It’s the new year and everyone is jazzed about hitting the gym to workout. That’s not the only part about maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  In fact, working out might actually be the easy part because maintaining a healthy diet in a world of unhealthy convenient options can be tough. I’m going to be doing several posts on meal prep over the coming weeks and I want to know what are your biggest questions on prepping meals. I want to help everyone master the meal prep because it’s such an important thing. You can work out all you want but if you’re…

I roasted my first pumpkin yesterday

I roasted my first pumpkin yesterday

Hello my friends!  I’m boring this week.  I’m living for the little things.  I’ve been really busy at work (both jobs) so I have been looking forward to spending a minute at home.  Meal prep happened very quickly this week by eating some old favorites.  But I was looking forward to making something with my pumpkin that has been sitting on my counter since Friday. Last Friday, we did the grocery shopping for the week because we went to Tyler for the race. We wanted to make sure we had our groceries when we returned. That’s when I decided to…

The fastest meal prep I’ve ever done

The fastest meal prep I’ve ever done

When I travel, it’s really hard to get the meal prepping done.  Guess what? I’m going to be doing a lot of traveling for the rest of the year so I’m going to have to learn to perfect the system.  I usually end up skipping a workout so I can get everything done but yesterday I tried something different.  I was very rushed. I had to make a plan and a list.  The most important thing this week was to make sure that I had things that could get done quickly.  The meal planning was a little bit difficult because…

Running a bit behind

Running a bit behind

This past weekend put me a little behind on the food prep thing which in turn has kind of made life a little harder. This weekend I ran one of those Hot Chocolate races and it wasn’t a good experience. I’ll put that in a separate post for the interested parties later. But that meant we weren’t home to do our Sunday morning grocery shopping. Well, in this case we did do it, just in another city. I guess that speaks to how hardcore we actually are about our shopping. But when we returned, I had a staff meeting at…

Knowledge is power so go get it!

Knowledge is power so go get it!

My favorite graduate school professor told me “knowledge is power but people don’t want to pay for that power.” Paying for information doesn’t necessarily mean a monetary exchange, sometimes is a time exchange too. Hearing that statement changed my world and continues to influence how I look at things now. I want to preface this post by saying I don’t want to come across preachy or bossy or whatever adjective you will insert here. People have sent many e-mails asking me what exactly we ate and when. I’m not an expert. I can’t develop a plan for you. And even…

This week’s snack attack: homemade salsa is on the list

It’s a marathon week so I don’t do weights.  I didn’t go to my usual group Power class this morning.  Instead, I stayed in and did some strength training with the ladies of Tone It Up.  I seriously love these workouts.  You can get them for free on their youtube or buy a DVD like I did!  I started the program at the beginning of the summer and within weeks I noticed a difference.  These workouts are the bomb for toning up and looking fabulous. While I was working out, I was thinking about food.  Is that a bad thing?…

Friday happys for a Happy Friday

Friday happys for a Happy Friday

This week I haven’t really be into anything.  My mind is on Denver next week which kind of made this week kind of blah for me. I haven’t been motivated to do much so I’ve kind of just been off.  I probably just needed a little a reality break though.  I’ve still done my weekly workouts and celebrated birthdays so that’s been a major positive.  It’s just been a really down week as far as enthusiasm but not in spirit.  I’ve been hanging in there LIKE A BOSS! Sadly the blog has suffered…just a tiny bit. Here are a few…

Recipe: Some carrot thing I made the other day

I hope everyone is having a good day.  I think I’m a little worn out from my workout yesterday.  I’m feeling a little lazy so I’ll take it. My mid-week long run turned out longer than I expected. Let me tell you, I didn’t feel like I ran 8 miles until I tried to sneak those extra two in and then it felt like my feet were bricks. Anywho, last week I ran out of strawberries for my oatmeal. I only had enough for one person’s oatmeal so I gave them to Willie because I love him so much. FYI:…

Eating healthy while traveling

Eating healthy while traveling

This week I’m traveling to Savannah for a conference which got me thinking about traveling. I love to travel. When I close my eyes and picture the future, I see a lot of traveling. I’m a person who is always on the go so being healthy on the go is very important to me. Most people think when you’re away it’s a “vacation” which may be true. When I’m traveling I don’t like to completely blow it out of the water. Really the only time I didn’t fret much about eating was our China trip. I know there are some…

Tuna Chickpea Salad

Tuna Chickpea Salad

This past weekend I took my bestie to Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods!  She had never been.  I was shocked when I found this out because I love those places.  Any health foodie loves Whole Foods, right?  Yes I know it’s expensive BUT you can find stuff in that store you can’t get most places.  It was taking kids to Disney World for us! One of my favorite things at Whole Foods is the food bar.  Remember that kale salad I was going nuts for last year? It’s so good.  I love the food bar because you can try lots…
