Bringing back the two-a-days and other things

Willie is on a mission to remind me I’m just a few days done from the 50K! I have some aches and pains and he’s on my butt about giving it time. You know what I say to that?

See @fueledxrunning there are people who see it my way! #marathonmaniacs #26point2 #running #truth #instarunners #igrunners #runaholic #joy
Yep! That’s right.

It’s the time of year when it’s getting hotter outside and the nearby races are coming to an end. That means one of two things. 1. I need to start traveling or 2. I’m going to have to hit the streets and run. I’m going to Kentucky in two weeks though and then California at the end of May. I have trips on the horizon and I’m making plans for the summer.

I ordered my new hydration pack yesterday and I’ll have it on Friday. I’m excited. Pictures when it arrives, but you might not be that interested.

Watermelon nuun

Speaking of hydration, watermelon NUUN is back in stock and I got mine yesterday! And I got the cool watermelon bottle.

I might have a @nuunhydration bottle problem but I love them! I can't imagine not having them in my life. I know it's ridics but these are seriously the best bottles for your hydration needs! How else can I enjoy my fav flavor cherry limeade without a bot

I’m not sure if I shared my bottle collection with you on the site, but here it is. So now you must be thinking I need another bottle, right? I think my husband thinks differently.

Anyway, I’m getting back into the workout routine.  I chose to sleep in on Monday and not workout.  I thought I needed the rest and there was a huge thunderstorm that passed through anyway.  Cut the power at the gym, so I was better off in my bed.

Taught my 5am cycle this morning and did some strength exercising and stretching this afternoon. My hamstring is really knotted up since the race so I'm easing back into things. But I'm also trying to get back on a regimen to keep with consistency. Recove

Yesterday though I had no choice but to get up and workout because I had to teach my 5AM class.  I couldn’t let the people down.  And then in the afternoon, I did a leg workout.  I’ve been skimping on my afternoon workouts lately and completely wasting time.  I’m really trying to push myself back into these workouts and not getting complacent.  Two-a-days are coming back.

Didn't think it was possible but everyone left me alone long enough to get a workout done in my office over lunch. Did @toneitup #beachbarre and @runnersworldmag strength. #wycwyc #fitfluential #ffcheckin #fitfam #tiuteam

Except this morning, I slept in.  I didn’t go.  It’s so bad, right?  Well I had to make up for that workout so I worked out on my lunch break.  I did some running strength exercises and a Tone It Up Beach Barre workout.  I was kind of nervous about it because I wasn’t sure if people were going to bother me in my office while I was working out.  But I gave everyone the heads up and no one knocked on my door.  I won’t always be able to do that but at least I could do it today.  So I got one workout in today.  It’s all about What You Can When You Can! (FYI: Book review coming soon.)

I am really making myself do these afternoon workouts because I need to get back in the habit.  I may have to whine and complain through them, but I’m glad that I get them done.  It’s hard for me because I’ve become this morning workout person (not this week…or last week either) and I just don’t want to workout in the afternoon.  I’m trying to push through this.

Are you a morning, afternoon or evening workout person?

The daily life and the medals

The daily life and the medals

Good afternoon everyone! I had this post planned today about hydration and I just wasn’t feeling it. That will probably have to come tomorrow because it’s important information. I’m not feeling much today. I’m feeling lazy and tired. I really didn’t take much time to recover two weeks ago from the marathon and then I went and ran another one. I’m a little off my marathon game. So here I am blogging to you today about…not much. Yesterday there was good news in the mail. We got our Little Rock Marathons in the mail again. This time I got my…

Five things on this Friday

Five things on this Friday

Happy Friday everyone!  I’ve been waiting for this day all week because I knew it would be a rest day for me.  I told myself that if I put in the work during the week, I could take today off from working out.  I was looking forward to sleeping in, but I still managed to wake up at 5:20am.  I got an extra hour of sleep so I’ll take that as a win. 1. I took it to the couch this morning to watch some Real Housewives of New York City and Married at First Sight.  I do love my…

There’s always room for improvement

There’s always room for improvement

I haven’t been the best blogger lately and I’m going to make some changes. There’s always room for improvement, right? That’s why it important to write down your goals as that constant reminder of what you’re trying to accomplish. I use to be so big on goal setting and meeting those goals. The one thing I was always told people was to set goals, write them down and check them off the list. I use to live by this and then I just stopped. I’ve slacked off. I’ve kind of stopped working toward something and just have been working…I’ve been…

I haven’t disappeared

I haven’t disappeared

You probably visited the blog a couple of times and noticed I haven’t posted anything.  I really haven’t been feeling well and the last thing I’ve wanted to do was blog.  I always start off with the best intentions but then it doesn’t happy. I’m still here.  I just don’t feel well.  I’ve gone to the doctor and been all checked out.  I really just think this is a case of dehydration. Blogging will return shortly but that doesn’t mean you can’t look at some great stuff on the site. I promise I will return to you soon with more…

I had a good weekend

I had a good weekend

I had a really great weekend.  I know I don’t usually post stuff about my normal day to day on the blog, but maybe I should do more things like that. I spent Valentine’s Day being active with Willie and support my best friend at her school 5k.  Note:  it was a lot of walking on a soccer field. Totally not serious, but A LOT of fun! And someone showed me to to stretch because I wasn’t do it right! Then we headed to the expo to pick up our packets. Then I fought the ridiculous Austin traffic to hang…

Things I’ve learned.

Things I’ve learned.

This week I turned down my dream job because in the end it wasn’t really my dream job. It was a great job and I’m honored to have been offered the job. In the end, I knew the job was amazing but it wasn’t my time for this job. It was a very emotional process for me and I learned a couple of things: 1. Ultimately, my husband will always come first. What he thinks and feels has always been important to me. I travel a lot but I do that because I want to do that. I control the…

Now that I’m not running…

Now that I’m not running…

I have a little bit more free time.  Things have settled in our house.  Willie is officially a marathoner and I’ve run my last races of the year.  Those recaps will be coming soon but for right now there is something else to talk about. Now that I’m not running I have a little bit of time to clean shop around the blog.  It’s been a hard trying to find a balance in life.  I have my day job, my part time job and my blog job.  It’s been a whirlwind and I think I did a pretty good job…

My weight loss gamer changer

My weight loss gamer changer

For some reason people are saying that Willie and I were on The Biggest Loser. I’ve been stopped four times in two days of people asking me about the show. Sorry folks, we weren’t on that show. The social aspect of the show would have had us voted out in the very beginning. But the lovely lady at Sam’s Club did ask me what the biggest game changer in losing all the weight. I didn’t even flinch when she asked because I know portion control was the biggest learning experience of it. Please pay attention to portion sizes. Read the…

The fastest meal prep I’ve ever done

The fastest meal prep I’ve ever done

When I travel, it’s really hard to get the meal prepping done.  Guess what? I’m going to be doing a lot of traveling for the rest of the year so I’m going to have to learn to perfect the system.  I usually end up skipping a workout so I can get everything done but yesterday I tried something different.  I was very rushed. I had to make a plan and a list.  The most important thing this week was to make sure that I had things that could get done quickly.  The meal planning was a little bit difficult because…

Energy bars and working out

Energy bars and working out

I feel boring lately because I haven’t really been doing anything exciting. I needed the change of pace though because I was on the move the entire beginning of the year. Plus, things are getting ready to kick into high gear for me. This week I’m going to Fitbloggin in Savannah, GA so I’ll be on the move. I thought I would let you know what’s going on in my boring life… I enjoyed a beautiful sunset after book club last week. This was an amazing thing for me because I’m usually in bed when the sun goes down. I…
