Happy National Sandwich Day!

One should not be this excited for a day like this, but I will admit I’m super excited for National Sandwich Day!  I do love a good sandwich because the possibilities are endless.  I don’t want to be like Bubba from Forest Gump but I could name a ton of sandwich combinations that I love!

Lunch stop! Chicken Cesar wrap no dressing, no cheese so I guess that's just a chicken wrap...and a fruit cup! What are you chowing down on this afternoon? #fitfluential #bucees #lunchtime #goodeats #rnrdalThe simplest things make the best sandwiches and sandwiches are so easy to make.  And the best thing about sandwiches? Those things are pretty hard to mess up. What is considered a sandwich? From wikipedia: A sandwich is a food item consisting of one or more types of food, such as vegetables, sliced cheese or meat, placed on or between slices of bread, or more generally any dish wherein two or more pieces of bread serve as a container or wrapper for some other food. Untitled

I do enjoy just a plain ole sandwhich most days, but I do love a falafel sandwich! It’s so good!

Here are some links to some great sandwiches to try:

Chicken Salad Sandwich with Cranberries, Apples, and Pecans
Grilled Margherita Sandwiches
Lighter Chicken Salad
Eggs and Salmon Sandwich

Those are just a few but I’ll be adding stuff to my pinterest “National Sandwich Day” board. If you’re a pinterest user follow me and maybe we can collab on some boards.

Willie thinks these holidays are silly and sometimes I do too.  I only support the weird days that I’m into, haha!  But he sure doesn’t have a problem celebrating this fine day.  We will get our buy one get one free sandwich from Subway later.  I hope they don’t run out of bread.

What’s your favorite sandwich?

Define your success

Define your success

Winning isn’t everything and being the best isn’t all that.  Keep that in mind as you go through life.  It’s great to come in on top and it’s great to highly successful but that isn’t going to happen every time you do try something. It’s ok not to be the best at something.  It’s acceptable to try something and not get it the first time.  It’s not acceptable to give up after trying something that didn’t go the way you thought it would go the first time around. The thing to remember is there is more than one way to…

Three tips for FALLing back into fitness and nutrious food

Fall is a beautiful time. The leaves are changing colors and the weather gets a little bit cooler. This is the time when the clothes get a little baggier and some people may fall into comfort food. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it shouldn’t be a daily regime. Fall is the perfect time to get outside and really enjoy some nice weather and get fit at the same time. I live for the fall weather. It’s the perfect time for me to get outside and do my runs after struggling through the hot summer temps. All that hard word…

My weight loss story: the reasons for losing 200 pounds

Hello all!  We got in late last night and I’m still not the same.  I’ll be working on my recaps for the Kansas City Marathon and Rock n Roll St. Louis for later this week. Right now I want to talk about losing weight.  I don’t know if I was ever really open and honest about my weight loss and what things were like beforehand.  So I made a video at the beginning of the month that I would like to share with you about my weight loss journey. I talk about dealing with my emotions, binge eating and my…

Monday Motivation: you can improve

Monday Motivation: you can improve

Happy Monday!  It’s time for that Monday Motivation message to get you through the week.  I’m still in Missouri but there is one thing I’ve learned this weekend.  You can improve.  No matter where you think you are, the challenges you’ve faced or the backslide you may have taken; it is possible to improve. When I ran the Chicago Marathon, I didn’t have my finest hour.  It was hard and rough.  I really questioned if I was ready to continue my quest because things have been so rough for me lately.  I thought that maybe I could just put it…

Meeting Dean Karnazes pushes me to set a good example for health.

I didn’t know that when I was searching for a charity for the Chicago Marathon I would find the cause that would change my entire attitude. I had no plans to run Chicago and to be honest I had no desire to ever run this race. But after a rough couple of months and a lot of deep thinking, I decided that I needed to run Chicago to make a statement to myself. I needed to show myself that I had changed, that I’ve grown and I’m no longer afraid to be united or stand alone. And then I found…

#TourdeAngie has begun with my airport food hacks

I had big things planned for the blog this week but then life got really busy.  It was launch week at the gym which is always a great time. But that also means things get really busy with teaching extra classes.  Then my full time job was hectic because I was trying to do 6 days worth of work in 4 days.  The blog and vlog kind of got no attention this week.  Luckily I have some down time in the airport right now between my flights. I first had to eat my salad in the bag.  Why in the…

One goal for October

One goal for October

Happy October! Most people are talking about how September went by so fast, but for me it was slow. It was painfully slow. That’s why I’m glad that October has arrived. Cooler temperatures are finally starting to arrive in the area which is making running a little bit more enjoyable. The sun is starting to set earlier which means my early bedtime doesn’t seem so ridiculous. This morning the temp was 55 degrees. How does that happen in deep South Texas? It’s amazing. Also, I’m excited because I’ll be running the Chicago Marathon next week…and then I’ll get to travel…

Three way: enjoyable apple recipes

Three way: enjoyable apple recipes

I’m excited to introduce a new thing to the blog called the three way.  It’s something I thought would be fun, but it’s been a learning experience.  I’m glad I started off with something simple like an apple.  I’m a huge fan of red apples: gala, pink lady, jazz…I can never have enough.  Willie is strictly Granny Smith but that’s too tart for me. It’s fall and everything is going pumpkin again.  I love pumpkin but we should really enjoy the great selection of apples coming our way.  That’s the reason for the apple three way.  I went sweet this…

Recipe: The Apple Pizza

Recipe: The Apple Pizza

This recipe is part of the Apple Three Way Series. The apple pizza isn’t meant to be fancy.  It’s meant to be easy.  I used PB2 again in this recipe because I had it on hand AND it’s something I don’t have to worry about the calories or fat from the peanut butter. You can use peanut butter instead of the PB2 though.  It’s up to you! Also, these apple pizzas are great because you can customize to what you want.  Some people may want shredded coconut on them.  Others may nuts or apple butter or raisins…or all of that.…
