Motivation Monday: Patience is key

The year is winding down and it’s the time to reflect on all the great things you did this year.  I truly hope it’s been a great year for you and you have made the progress you desired at the start of the year.  Even if you didn’t reach all of your goals doesn’t mean it’s still not going to happen.  Patience is key and things take time, a person just needs to stay the course.

PatienceI know what you’re thinking, “it’s easier said than done.” That’s the absolute truth, it’s easy to think those things but putting it into action is another monster. I promise you having patience and waiting it out until the end will make you a better person. It will teach you strength and control. Plus, everything you are wanting will be much more appreciated in the end.

Am I really qualified to be giving you this advice? What would make me qualified in the first place? I don’t have an answer to this. I’m just a girl who lost 200 pounds with hard work, determination and a whole lot of patience. PATIENCE is the biggest lesson I learned from starting my weight loss journey and it will be something I’m going to take in account again when I’m trying to lose my baby weight.

Things will happen slowly and with time. Things don’t happen immediately, but that doesn’t mean those things WON’T happen. Plans are made quickly, but execution takes a bit of TIME to develop. Please remember that if you are starting your weight loss journey. It will take time but you have to keep going, even when things aren’t going the way you thought.

It took me 15 months to lose 150 pounds. It didn’t happen immediately and it was slow at the start. I was frustrated and confused. It was hard. I knew that if I kept pushing through, it would pay off in the end. And it did…I changed my life by allowing time to do it’s thing and working on my patience to let it happen.

I hope this motivates you to accomplish some great things in the new year.  It’s time to start thinking about the things you want to accomplish in the upcoming year.  And remember, patience and time will get you there.

Happy Monday!

Friday Five: Turkey burgers, headbands, working out & more

Friday Five: Turkey burgers, headbands, working out & more

Happy Friday!  I hope all is well in the world with you.  I felt like I had a really productive morning but then the afternoon seems a little less eventful.  I guess you could say I spent it on the couch sleeping. I thought I should sit down and blog since I’m feeling up to it and I’m well rested. So there’s a blog and some hot chocolate…and here I am. I think it’s a good way to spend a Friday. 1. Today I’m officially 38 weeks which means our baby girl should be making her grand debut soon.  FYI:…

Motivation to get back on track

Motivation to get back on track

It’s the holidays and people seem to get off track during this time.  For me, I’m dealing with a big event coming my way.  My focus has just been getting something in my tummy and I’ve been GREAT for the most part.  But with our little girl on the way, I’m trying to get back on track so I can stay healthy and get lose this baby weight. I’ve learned that in the past making a plan is the most effective way to accomplish a goal. It’s easier to stay focused and on track that way. I know it worked…

Tips for getting your workouts done

Tips for getting your workouts done

I know I’ve talked about this before but I have a new perspective on this subject.  Before working out was something that I wanted to do; I had no problems hitting the gym.  Now that I’m pregnant, I still want to workout but there are many excuses for me not to hit the gym.  Sometimes those are good reasons and sometimes those are just excuses.  I can now identify with some of the complaints people have about working out. I’ve been trying to workout 4 times a week in my third trimester.  For the most part, I’ve been hitting my…

Making the sugar-free cake

Making the sugar-free cake

I posted last night on Facebook that I was making this Warm Winter Lemon Cake (click the words because they are a link; I just don’t know why it doesn’t light up.).  I’ve made this cake before, I’ve just never done a sugar-free cake version.  I know what the finished product is supposed to look like. I used a Pillsbury boxed yellow sugar-free cake and sugar-free Jello lemon pudding.  I followed the directions just like they said and this is what I ended up with.  It’s not bad, it’s just not what is supposed to happen.  The pudding is supposed…

Motivation Monday: Concentrate on what you have

Motivation Monday: Concentrate on what you have

Happy Monday!  I hope things are starting off right for you today.  This post will be short but I wanted to share with you a message of concentrating on what you have and value your worth.  I’ve gone through a period of time of not realizing my worth and questioning things that haven’t happened in my life.  What I’ve learned is that is a waste of time.  Don’t make that mistake. It’s important to be thankful for everything that you are and currently possess instead of longing for the things you are not and don’t have. Those things will come…

Do I still meal prep?

Do I still meal prep?

I’ve read the e-mails and I know people want more food stuff on the blog because it’s seriously lacking.  I have to be real, we do a modified food prep thing in our house right now.  Eating in our house has been a little lackluster and some weeks I just noticed I was wasting money on food.  The short answer to the questions is: yes.  Now he’s the long explanation: We still make our weekly trips to grocery store and I do start out with good intentions. It’s day to day with me so there are just some days I…

Happy Halloween and the Corner Store Run

Happy Halloween and the Corner Store Run

I’m not really a big fan of Halloween.  I don’t like dressing up and I’m not a huge fan of candy.  I never really enjoyed it as a young child either.  I don’t like to be scared or spooked and I know that’s only one side of the holiday.  It’s just not for me.  I love others enjoy it but it’s really not the thing for me.  I must be hard wired wrong or something, right?  Maybe this will change in the future, but I may be growing a child that might not like it either. Maybe I’m just bitter…

Don’t be afraid of workout modifications

Don’t be afraid of workout modifications

No workout should ever be too hard, unmanageable or out of reach.  There is always an option for working out.  I’ve learned a great deal about workout modifications and the main thing about working out is making it work for YOU!  There’s no reason to be afraid to try something because you think it’s going to be too hard because there is always a way to modify to your needs and abilities.  And if you’re worried what other people are going to say, don’t worry.  People really aren’t paying that much attention to you at the gym.  Everyone is focused on…

WIAW: A typical day of eating

WIAW: A typical day of eating

Want to know what I eat in a day? Today is your lucky day because I’m going to share. I should have shared this a while ago because a TON of people would e-mail me asking to me to make videos about what I eat in a day. I will tell you my eating habits haven’t changed much since I’ve been preggers or been on my weight loss journey. This is pretty straight on as before. I may just eat a little bit more on some days than others, AND I might want to eat some pizza little more often.…

The case of: Peanut butter and jelly oatmeal

The case of: Peanut butter and jelly oatmeal

I may not have talked about it a lot lately, but I still love oatmeal.  There was a mild obsession with it a while back that has become a full-blown obsession now. I ate oatmeal every day until I got preggers and then for some reason it has to leave my life.  I’m happy to report it’s back in my life…a lot quicker than eggs. I’ve been an oatmeal snob.  I can’t eat other people’s oatmeal unless I have the same ingredients as my special concoction, but this morning I tried something new. Introducing for the first time: peanut butter and…
