Life without my hubby…and some new food

My husband had to leave me to deal with some family obligations and it hasn’t been a fun time for me. I wish I was able to go but life got in the way and by life I mean work. I’ve been spending a lot of time alone with the dogs. It really stinks because the hubby does a lot of things to help me out and I’ve had to do those things myself. Oh the horror, right? I thought I would give you a little insight into my life sans the hubby.

1. I’ve had to do laundry and I hate it. He usually makes sure my huge pile of workout clothes are washed and dried every day. He washes, I fold but not since he’s been gone. Untitled 2. He washes the dishes. Most of the time I cook, he cleans. Now I’ve been cooking and cleaning. No bueno. I have to give my husband props for dealing with the dishes and the trash. We go through a lot of dishes every day since you know we eat a lot at home. Untitled 3. He takes the dogs out…along with all other dog needs. He’s on throw up patrol, water patrol, feast time and potty breaks and I’ve had to do all that too. I’ve had problems with both of the pups since he’s left. One dog has been on a frantic search for him and I think she stressed herself out. She was having stomach issues which first surfaced as a throw up problem but then moved to the other end. Thankfully things are stabilized now. But the other dog has gone into protective mode and he’s acting out. Night one he charged across the street after a cat into someone else’s garage (not his typical behavior) and last night he charged the next door neighbor. I felt horrible. I know he’s doing this to protect me but this is supposed to be my trained and lovable dog doing all these bad things. Untitled 4. I’ve cooked new things to eat and I know he’s missing out on all that homemade goodness. He will only get the pictures because it will all be gone by the time he gets home. Another time hubs, another time. I made peanut butter pumpkin pancakes (I’ll post my recipe later because these PANCAKES were delicious) and a protein bread adapted from Run Eat Repeat.

Adapted @runeatrepeat's cranberry protein bread! It's really great! #bread #eat #foodie #food #healthy #protein

Not that I didn’t appreciate my hubby before, but I really appreciate everything he does to make my life easier. He knows I’m always working and training so he does whatever is needed to help out. I appreciate it even more now!

Why I stopped logging my food

Why I stopped logging my food

About a month ago I decided to stop logging my food. This was a hard decision for me because I’ve logged my food every day since we started our weight loss journey. But that was the thing, I logged my food on my weight loss journey and that’s really not the journey I am on anymore. I can proudly say I’ve been maintaining my weight for a year and half. People said it couldn’t be done and there were a lot of haters out there, but I’m still beating the odds every day. That’s not to say I haven’t gained…

Five things I love right now: stretching, running, television, music and snacks

Reading the site you always see about my weight loss journey and all the things that come along with it and it’s left people wondering what else am I about. This is just a little something that you can find out a little bit more about me. Yes, some of it is still exercise related but that is a PART of me too. 1. I’m obsessed with this song. It’s hit my running playlist and just a song I listen to in the car! I watched Princesses of Long Island and this was the theme song. Every week I said…

Easy weekday meal: Pork and apples

Easy weekday meal: Pork and apples

When we started our weight loss journey we had to cut a lot of foods from our diet, including red meat. We just don’t eat a lot of it around our house. We went on a serious campaign of fish, ground turkey and chicken and we ate these things everyday. It can get a little boring and monotonous. We stuck with this habit until a couple of weeks ago while we were grocery shopping. We both stood there at the butcher counter and asked, “Why aren’t we eating pork?” Pork gets a bad wrap in my opinion. It’s the other…

Road trippin’ across the deep south

Road trippin’ across the deep south

I’ve been out of town on a road trip with my momma. This time last year our family was dealing with a serious health issue with my mom and this year I’m on a roadtrip with her. How freakin’ awesome is that? We went on a tour of the deep south: Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and back to Texas! It was a good time. Plus, I am a southern girl. I wanted to deny it for many years, but I love the south. I think going to Ole Miss really changed my view of the South. I missed the Georgia…

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday!

I had grand plans for the blog this week, but guess what? I failed to execute those plans. If you follow me on Facebook, Instagram, and twitter you know I’ve been making a road trip across the deep south! Immediately when we got here on Wednesday evening, I went for a run. Marathon training never stops! I will tell you one thing, I’ve been incredibly tired. Sleep can throw off your weight loss and healthy lifestyle. Sleep helps your body recover and repair, so if you’re not getting enough your body will not function properly. When I’m tired, I get…

Notes on the weekend

Notes on the weekend

This weekend was pretty chill for me because I didn’t feel like doing anything. Maybe because I’m going to be going out of town on Wednesday and I just wanted to spent some chill time with the hubs and pups. Plus, my body was begging me to stop. I had been working out for two weeks straight without a rest day so I really needed to take the break. It was a steady push to Sunday for me! Friday: I decided to work from home on Friday which was the best thing ever! This was the first week the training…

Notes on Willie’s birthday and homemade frozen yogurt

Willie’s birthday was on Monday.  He’s growing into an old  wiser man!  He’s so low key that he didn’t want to do anything which made it hard for me.  I always want to make moments in his life super special but he’s happy with toned down and low key.  I guess it’s the time we spend together that makes it special, right? When I asked him what he wanted for his birthday, he said nothing. I wasn’t going to let that fly so I went searching for the perfect card and perfect present. The card search was a lot harder…

Tunes Tuesday: Inspiration To Go

Tunes Tuesday: Inspiration To Go

I’m a firm believer that music does help guide a workout so that’s why I’ve put together some songs that may help you push through the best and worse workouts! This is your inspiration to go list! It’s always great to have a good motivational song come on while I’m working out because it sometimes gives me a second wind when I need it the most. When I know I’m going to have a challenging day at the gym or on a run, I will put this playlist on. What song pushes you through your work out?

Wait, do you think you’re special?

Wait, do you think you’re special?

I’m sitting here at Starbucks with my iced coffee prepping the blog for the week.  I wanted to take a minute to talk about the issue of being special after receiving an e-mail from a reader a couple of weeks ago.  The e-mail basically told me that I thought I was above everyone and I don’t offer any help to anyone.  It ended with a simple question, why do I think I’m so much more special than everyone else? The simple answer to this questions is no.  I don’t think I’m special and I don’t think Willie and I are…

A Workout Review: Spinning and Marathon Training

A Workout Review: Spinning and Marathon Training

Last week was a very busy week for me.  Since I’ve started teaching spinning I haven’t had enough time to go to my friend/mentor/favorite person in the world’s spin class.  It kind of bums me out.  I’ve been working hard on not over training but this past week I sucked it up and just went.  It was awesome.  So here’s a look at last week’s workouts.  Sunday was a rest day for me. Monday: 4 Mile morning run and group power in the evening! It was Tori’s last day teaching at the gym so I went to her Group Power…
