Not the best day

Today hasn’t been kind to me. The day started out great but it went down hill shortly after I taught my cycle class this morning.

My ankle has been bothering me but I trucked through the class. I really enjoyed teaching the class this morning and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Teaching this class was probably the best thing of the day.  I don’t know why I was so excited but I woke up at 3 am for my 5am class.  I was an eager beaver to motivate those who came to class this morning.

Things started to go down hill as the day progressed.  It was one of those days that my former self would have gone to Wings To Go and ordered a family combo and downed it all without thinking about it.  I’m glad that I’m not that person anymore.  I’ve mentioned before that I was a horrible horrible emotional eater but I am glad this is the greatest positive change out of the experience.  I don’t emotional eat anymore.

When it comes to those moments that I’m having a bad day, my solution is to relieve the stress by running or doing some exercise.  I would rather run 5 miles instead of eating that cheeseburger.  People have asked me how to avoid the emotional eating and how to overcome it.  This is just something you have to train your mind not to do.  Whenever I wanted to eat something, I just had to divert my attention to something else.  Eventually it became second nature NOT to want to eat.  It wasn’t easy to avoid and I don’t think I’ll ever be completely over wanting to emotional eat.

The biggest advice I can give to people who are battling emotional eating is just stopping and thinking before you eat!  Ask yourself, “why am I eating this?” Are you eating it because you’re hungry or are you eating it because you’re sad/stressed/angry/lonely? If you’re not hungry then don’t eat it.  Pour yourself a glass of water, count to 20 and try to relax your mind.  The impulse decision will lead you to eat, so why not step away and think about it for a second?

On a happier note, I’ve been on a quest for the new Questbar but I can’t find it anywhere.  It’s sold out. I want to see if the cookies and cream Questbar is as good as people say, but I just can’t find one anywhere. The bars are on sale everywhere so it’s hard to find any variety of these bars around town.  I’ll take what I can get though and this was today’s loot!
