My year in running

When I started off the year I had only run two races in 2012, both half marathons.  Who would have thought I would run 14 half marathons the next year? This wasn’t how I thought the year would go.  The big question is: what fueled my racing desire? The answer: my running group!  I told Jeremy I wanted to do RnR Dallas and he said he was doing it so that kind of pushed me to do the race.  That was two weeks after the Gusher and I had never run a race that close together, but I did it. After that race, I knew I could do anything I wanted as long as I kept my body strong and healthy.  At that moment, a running monster was born.

2013 Running Medals

I ran 1 “marathon”, 14 half marathons, 3 10Ks, 2 5Ks, 1 15K trail race, and 1 10-mile in 2013.  I learned alot about myself this year.  I traveled the country running the streets of cities I never thought I would visit.  I met a lot of great people and got a chance to join Got Chocolate Milk Team Refuel.

Here are some of the highlights:
Louisiana Marathon Weekend 2013
My first double race – The Louisiana Cypress 5K and Louisiana Half Marathon

RnR Dallas – My PR of 2:13:59!

Austin 10/20 – Willie’s first long distance race.

RnR San Diego – Willie’s first half marathon

Gator Bait 15k – My first trail race and my first scared as sh** moment.

RnR Philly – My first trip by myself and my first race as Team Refuel member. And my favorite medal of the bunch!

Tyler Rose Half Marathon – the best time I’ve had with my running friends!

RnR Denver Half Marathon – My hardest half marathon of the year

Pleasure Island Half Marathon – The prettiest run of the year!

Wicked proud of Tyson today! He rocked his first 13.1! #rnrsa
RnR San Antonio – The day my best buddy Tyson became a runner!

Still posting pics from the neighborhood marathon! Lesson from the weekend: don't let anyone tell you not to do something when you know it's possible! St. Jude Marathon may have been canceled but we still run on! @mystjude #sjmmw #iambft #marathon #sweatp
St. Jude Marathon is canceled but I still run my miles!

So that was just a review of all of my favorite races this year. Next year is looking to be just as exciting. Right now I have 3 marathons and several half marathons on the schedule for next year.

I feel in love with running this year because it makes me feel alive. When I run, it’s time for myself and it’s the time I know I’m accomplishing something. Running makes me feel great and it’s something I never thought I would be able to do.

Anything is possible if you want to do it! NEVER give up on something you want to do because anything is possible!

Here’s looking to the future…
