Last night I went running with my friends! I almost missed this race because I was scheduled to go to Gulf Shores to be with my bestie. I hate that I’m missing out on the fun, BUT something serious came up that kind of made me stay in town. Running this race was a good alternative for not sitting by the pool right now. I love running races at home because you know everyone and the environment is just fun and friendly. Everyone is so supportive and it’s just a great time!

Here is my race video:

Much better than the last because I had my videographer husband to help me out. Too bad he wasn’t here to help me edit this sucker, but you got the point.

I will not lie, after the performance I put on last week in Roswell with the little hills, I wasn’t expecting much. I was still going to give it a good honest effort, but I really wasn’t expecting anything from this. I did warm up before the race though with this great view. Isn’t it nice? The causeway bridge crosses over from Texas into Louisiana. We had to run the bridge two times. I was really dreading it because this short distance runs really aren’t my thing. I like to run a long time and I like to run more miles. I think it’s just easier for me to keep my focus.

I had a great time getting to see my friends and taking pictures before the race. You see the very bottom picture in the center column? The lady in the purple is Ciara and she’s on her own weight loss journey. I talked to her back in May and she was kind of struggling but she’s been sticking with her plan and she’s lost 45 lbs! How amazing is that? I am wicked proud of her and I can’t wait to see where her journey takes her. It’s just great to see all of these people out enjoying a healthier lifestyle!

And it was nice to run with my Team Refuel team!  We all weren’t there but we represented well.  Two of the group won their age group!  That is totally awesome and I’m so proud of them.  The chocolate milk is just a great bonus.

I know it was kind of obnoxious that I kept talking about eating…my Subway salad, but I was really hungry. I didn’t want to eat a full blown meal before the race because I didn’t want to get sick. I’m not really a night runner and this race started at 7PM. This is really late for me considering most nights I’m in bed by 9:30PM and up at 4 AM. So yes, the salad was just as delicious as I thought it would be and Willie took me to get some froyo when we left the island! All in all it was a great night and a great race. I’m proud of myself.

I pulled off 8 miles after the causeway 5k last night! It felt good to get out and run this morning. #longrun #runchat #running #nikeplus #marathontraining

When we left the race, I didn’t think it was going to be possible for me to get up and run 8 miles this morning. I was kind of dreading it because I just wasn’t feeling like running that far. I wanted to run, but 8 miles didn’t seem doable for me. In the end though, I got out to run and I ran the 8 miles and I was proud. I struggled through the last 2 miles because the sun was fully out and it got hot in my face very quickly. My clothes were drenched. When I came back in I left puddles on the floor. Now it’s time for some rest!

So what are you doing this weekend? Any races coming up for you?
