My dog took me for a run

This week has been all about getting back into a routine. All the running has kind of messed up my schedule because I’ve had to recover and do it all over again. Guess what y’all? I’m on a two weekend break from running.

#strengthtraining not really feeling it this morning but I thought it was best that I went to class. Glad I did! Don't live with regret even if it's just a gym workout. #ffcheckin #fitfluential #fitfam

That means I’m able to get my strength training in. Too bad it’s totally making me hate push ups. Willie told me that you should change your workout up every 2 months or something like that so your body doesn’t get use to it. I really wasn’t feeling it this morning, but I went. That means I went 3 times this week!

Totally surprised that Tinkie ran 3.51 miles with me and she could have done more. Thanks @nutrish for the kit! #instarunner #instapets #petstagram #runchat #runhappy #gtstrutters #fitfluential #fitbloggin

This is kind of a big deal for me. This is the workout I try to ignore because I like to sweat. This week the running has been scaled back a bit, but my dog still took me for a run the other day. I was pleasantly surprised because I didn’t think she would last a mile but she ended up going 3.5 miles. I was shocked. Now I call her my lil champ because I’ve been training the wrong dog.

Rachael Ray Nutrish
We used our new Buddy System leash that we got in our Fit Dog package from Nutrish! This was my first time taking it out for a spin and I really liked it. Tinkie was pulling me a little bit during the run but she was just telling me to pick up my pace. I was trying to take it easy and she was ready to give it her all.

It all happened on a day that I really didn’t want to get out and do anything. It’s one of those moments I’m glad I didn’t miss because it was a great workout with my lil champ.

Do you have pets? Do you take them out for walk/runs regularly?

Staying safe when you take your workouts outside

Staying safe when you take your workouts outside

Last week a woman was running in the wee hours of the morning and she was attacked. Her attacker tried to pull her in the bushes but she went all karate kid on him and got away. I don’t know if I could have done that. I can tell you one thing, I don’t want to find out. This terrifies me because I’ve been known to go running at 3:30 am! I did this without telling my husband where I would be running and I would be gone for hours at a time. He never would have known if I…

Staying healthy while staying busy

Staying healthy while staying busy

I’ve been a little MIA this week.  It’s been a busy busy week with my full-time and part-time job.  I haven’t been doing a good job at keeping you informed with what I’ve been doing. First off, it’s launch week at the gym which keeps me busy.  That means more teaching in my schedule.  It’s kind of a bummer I didn’t have enough time to go to all the classes I wanted to attend.  I’ll just pick it up next week.  This morning I got to team teach with my buddy. She made our shirts which were so cute! I’ve…

Does the journey ever really end?

Does the journey ever really end?

This day in 2011, Willie and I decided that it was time for a change.  Together we took the steps to lose weight and transform our lifestyle.  This morning I woke up to tell Willie today was the day and he didn’t remember.  I take that as a good thing because that means we’ve come a long way. I still remember everything about that day.  The conversation we had and how I really wanted to get barbecue that day for dinner. I know it sounds silly, but I still remember.  The next day Willie and I went to the gym…

Enjoying the Christmas season with a bike ride

Enjoying the Christmas season with a bike ride

This week has been filled with holiday things.  We had our run group Secret Santa on Monday and tonight we had the Christmas Light Bike Ride.  I was a little worried that it was going to rain tonight and we wouldn’t be able to ride.  It was misty, but I still made it.  It was really hard to see. It all started with Sainta Clause.  Who Dat! Dancing #santas! A video posted by Angela (@angelabeatfat) on Dec 12, 2014 at 4:48pm PST And then there were dancing Santas. I had to get my picture taken with one of the dancing…

Christmas presents for your health minded person

Christmas presents for your health minded person

Next week is Christmas.  Have you done your shopping?  I haven’t done much shopping at all.  I should probably get on it.  Just in case you’re still searching for the perfect gift or stocking stuffer, I thought I would go ahead and put my list out there.  All the lists out there seem to be the same: running shoes, running fuel, blah blah blah.  Here is my list of great gifts for your fitness/health junkie friends: The price buster: An iPod.  I know you can listen to music on  your phone and most people do.  But I think it’s great…

It’s time to get your HIIT on!

It’s time to get your HIIT on!

It’s time to change up those workouts people.  When I feel like I need a change, I take a HIIT. HIIT = High Intensity Interval Training.  It burns A LOT of calories and gets in everything that you need.  Cardio and strength in one killer workout so it’s one of the best.  I have a love/hate relationships with HIIT workouts because I know the workouts are going to be intense so I hate them.  I love them because I definitely see improvement in my body and fitness after doing these workouts for a while.  The key is to stick with…

The pie hit the trash so let’s try something new

There’s nothing wrong with Thanksgiving eating but there is a problem with leftovers.  It’s especially hard to be one of those people who HATES to throw food away.  Continuing the Thanksgiving eating for many days after Thanksgiving can be a problem. I woke up yesterday and saw a lot of food in the trash including a full pecan pie, angel food cake and some macaroni and cheese. Willie was serious about it. It’s time to move on. It’s marathon week! It’s not my first marathon but it was supposed to be my first marathon this year so I’m excited to…

Never underestimate the importance of stretching

Never underestimate the importance of stretching

I’m a firm believer in stretching but I know a lot of people who don’t stretch at all. I couldn’t imagine running a half marathon and not stretching…or doing a 45 minute spinning class and just walking out. I will admit, I wasn’t always a firm believer in stretching but then I noticed I started to get really tight and I had a couple of minor injuries. Let’s just say I was scared straight into stretching and it was the best wake up call ever. I’m sharing this information because a lot of you are just now starting on a…

The king of grocery shopping

The king of grocery shopping

I spent the weekend with my best friend in Mississippi while Willie stayed behind to handle the dogs!  He also had to handle the grocery shopping so that we could successfully handle the Sunday meal prepping. For the record, my husband is AMAZING! I got to enjoy views like this and he got to take the dog to get his shots. Remember ho I told y’all Willie came in under budget for the grocery shopping?  He did it again.  Maybe I should start sending him to the store instead of going myself.  He did a really good job.  Our fridge…
