Intentions for the year end

Hello everyone, and happy November! Welcome back to the blog. The end of the year is coming, which means there is still time to accomplish new goals or start those projects you never got to yet. The end of the year is the time to finish the year strong.

Take the time to refocus and think about the things you wanted to accomplish or start in 2019 that just never got a boost in the year. I wanted to read 15 books this year, and I am nowhere near that goal, but there is still time for me to refocus the intention and find something more manageable for the year-end.

Efficiently ending the year, will help reinforce old habits that may have fallen off track and can help build new patterns for the upcoming year. It is a head start on the goals you want to set for the new year.

The holiday season is here, and things get busy. There are gifts to buy and parties to attend. You should always be first on the priority list, and during the holiday rush, it’s easy to lose sight of the things we want to accomplish.

I urge everyone to find a few things to work on for the end of the year. Accomplishing goals is a significant confidence boost, no matter the size of the goal. I can’t say it enough; it’s so satisfying checking something off a to-do list.

If you want to lose weight, you can start now by learning about portion control, meal planning, and learn how to build exercise into your routine.

Do you want to learn to cook healthier meals? Take the time now to start building a robust recipe library instead of trying to get it done at the last minute. You can also start planning your holiday meals to include some delicious healthy options.

Is this the time you want to build a better relationship with yourself and others around you? Start getting in the habit of doing a gratitude journal to help you refocus on the essential things in your life. Starting a journal is a great way to get your feelings out into the world and setting clear intentions with yourself. A journal will help you build stronger relationships with others.

I can’t end this blog post without telling you my intentions for the last 90 days of the year. I always practice what I preach!

My intentions for the end of the year:

  1. To practice patience and gratitude.
  2. To incorporate more strength training into my workouts.
  3. Do as many half marathons as I can and walk at a half marathon this year.
  4. Work on my fall wardrobe without breaking my budget.
  5. Make more time for fun.

I have shared my intentions for the end of the year. Now it’s your turn.

What are your intentions for the end of the year?

Time to change up the habits

Time to change up the habits

It’s time for this mama to change up the habits. I’ve basically been training for a marathon since last August, and now I just need a break. I have been on a training schedule for so long, which has made it difficult to do anything else in life. It’s time to change up the habits. I just want to workout to just workout and not be an on schedule. I don’t want to need to worry about getting things done early on a Friday night because I have a four-hour long run Saturday morning. I don’t want to worry about…

Healthy eating and travel: can it work?

Healthy eating and travel: can it work?

I’ve been traveling for the past week, and I’m still going. I’m not sure if travel and healthy eating can go in the same sentence, but I’m going to try to make some sense of the whole thing. Situation #1: You hardly travel and decide to live your life and not care about what you’re eating. Situation #2: You travel frequently, but maintain some balance but fall into the trap of “it’s not like I’m HERE every day” so you can enjoy so local cuisine. Situation #3: You don’t care either way.  This person is probably not reading this blog…

Focusing too much on losing weight?

Focusing too much on losing weight?

There’s nothing wrong with a little bit of focus, but sometimes it can get in the way.  Is it possible to have too much emphasis on a weight loss journey?  I may be living proof of the point.  The initial weight loss journey was strict.  I stayed on plan all the time because I wanted to lose weight so bad.  I lost the weight, but there were moments when I felt like I wasn’t living life.  In retrospect, I see I was a living a rigorous regiment and maybe that it was I needed to get over the hump of…

Weekly Meal Plan: Chicken in the Instapot

Weekly Meal Plan: Chicken in the Instapot

The meal plan hasn’t really been something I’ve been talking about, but we’ve still been cooking it up.  I don’t always eat the meals for dinner, it might pop us as a lunch thing, but at least it gets eaten, right? I love Indian food. My town only has one place to eat Indian food but I don’t always make it out. This week I decided it was time to try some Butter Chicken in the instapot. Spoiler alert: the chicken turned out great. I used both chicken breast and thighs.  And it was served with a side of coconut…

Just work it out

Just work it out

Excuse me as I take a moment for a personal message.  I’ve been thinking about what my message should be to the world.  I asked people what they thought the message I was conveying through Instagram.  I don’t know why this has become so important to me, but I’ve been a little more conscious about what I’m putting out there.  I’ve been struggling to find my voice or even hone in on my message. I have things I want to do and things I want to share with the world. You might think I have my s#!t together, but I…

A Weekly Dinner Meal Plan: Ground Turkey

A Weekly Dinner Meal Plan: Ground Turkey

The meal plan and meal prep are what is on everyone’s mind.  There’s not much for me to offer you in this area because I don’t create my own recipes. Plus, I don’t mind eating the same food all week.  I can make one meal and eat it for dinner all week, but I know some people just don’t like leftovers. I thought I would try to create a dinner meal plan for the blog readers. To make grocery shopping a bit easier, I focused on one protein cooked different ways throughout the week. Here’s the meal plan with this…

Putting yourself first

Putting yourself first

Life is busy and things get really messed up in life, but it is OK to put yourself first. Have you ever made a list of the important things in your life? Where do you fall on that list? Most of the time your name doesn’t even show up on the list. I’m giving you permission to put yourself on the list. The misconception about putting yourself first is that selfishness. This is not being selfish, this is smart. Think about all the things you do in a day and how many of those things you do for other people.…

Frozen vs. Fresh: The Produce debate

Frozen vs. Fresh: The Produce debate

Back in the day, I use to buy everything fresh and just prep the crap of out of it.  Now I don’t really have the time to do that with the little one running around.  But I also don’t know how to get my veggies in the way I want them buying them fresh.  My broccoli was always too hard, or I didn’t cook the green beans long enough.  There was always a problem. And then I started buying frozen vegetables.  I never thought this was a problem until there was a recall on some frozen vegetables at my grocery…

Happy New Year! Are you buying into the hype?

Happy New Year!  I hope it’s been a great start to the year for you.  I wanted to pop in on the blog because this is the day everyone is trying to get their messages out into the world.  If I read one more post about setting goals and making resolutions, I think I might freak out.  That’s funny coming from me, right?  My blog is supposed to be about finding your best self, going after what you want, and just accomplishing something. The new year doesn’t mean you needed to have everything figured out on this day.  The new…
