Yesterday I had a very brutal run. It was my last long run before the marathon and it wasn’t really a fun run. It was windy and I gave myself a mental beating throughout the run. I talked myself out of running the marathon twice over the those 16 miles. Willie was there to supply me water/Nuun/words of encouragement every three miles. It was a very hard run but I made it through. And when I finished I noticed I ran those miles faster than last weekend.
I just can’t believe that I let myself get mess with my head that bad because it was really bad. I was complaining after 3 miles. But it was just one of those things. Nothing went right yesterday. I didn’t start when I wanted, I miss running my first miles with Willie because my pants were too big and they kept falling down. I had to go home to change. Those were the same pants I wore in Memphis but I couldn’t wear them yesterday.
I ran those miles and had my chocolate milk after I was done. I was chugging that milk immediately after I was done. I have to keep my body nice and strong for the marathon. Lowfat chocolate milk has the right carbs to protein ratio to aid in recovery after a hard workout. 🙂
It may have been that at home workout I did the day before. I didn’t want to go out into the cold on Friday morning for my Group Power class so I said I would do a workout at home. I did 40 minutes of body weight strength training and abs. My body was very sore when Saturday morning but I know the workout was good.
Or maybe it could have been the wine I had the night before. I went to a wine tasting with friends. I’m not a huge wine drinker but I learned a lot and I think I’m going to go back.
Besides running, I was looking forward to our Saturday night meal. One of our 2014 goals is to eat at home more and Saturday night is usually the night we go out, but we’ve decided to stay at home for the foreseeable future. We decided that we would go italian so Willie made fresh pasta and I made meatballs and sauce.
Let me tell you this meal was SOOO good! We’ll be posting some recipes soon but I know I was talking about it on the facebook page and people were wondering how the meal turned out. It was silent when we were eating, which was the sign of a great meal. I think everything turned out better than both of us expected. It was also a great recovery meal too because I’m feeling great now. Pasta isn’t something we usually have because we try to stay away from the packaged stuff. Making it from scratch is so much better because you know exactly what is in it and you can control the amounts of everything. And apparently, it doesn’t take that long or require any fancy equipment. More to come on that later too!
Dessert was the new flavors of froyo from our yogurt shoppe. Willie really enjoys those bacon flavored things but I’m not really a fan. It was good though. I am a sucker for the French Toast flavor!
What is your favorite flavor of froyo?
