Happy Halloween and the Corner Store Run

I’m not really a big fan of Halloween.  I don’t like dressing up and I’m not a huge fan of candy.  I never really enjoyed it as a young child either.  I don’t like to be scared or spooked and I know that’s only one side of the holiday.  It’s just not for me.  I love others enjoy it but it’s really not the thing for me.  I must be hard wired wrong or something, right?  Maybe this will change in the future, but I may be growing a child that might not like it either.

Happy Halloween! I love giving out the candy to the kids! I'm not a big candy eater so having it in our house is not tempting to us. But I want to know what your favorite Halloween candy?

Maybe I’m just bitter due to the lack of trick or treaters year after year.  That might be the case.  Children just don’t trick or treat anymore and I’m left with a lot of candy I’m not going to eat.

I know people really like the candy aspect of it and there will be candy for days.  Halloween doesn’t really just last for one day.  It’s kind of the gift that keeps on giving until you A. finish the candy or B. throw it out.  So I thought I would help you out with a few candy cheat sheets to make you feel just a little bit better about your candy choices.

REMEMBER IT’S OK TO ENJOY THESE TYPES OF THINGS IN MODERATION. Don’t deprive yourself of things you might want because you’re going to end up binging later. Well that’s not a proven fact, but you’ll keep thinking about it and obsessing about it. Just save yourself the headache and enjoy a little bit of it and get it out of your head.

Anyway, this past weekend was a good one. I’m proud of myself for getting out of the house. First, Willie and I did the Corner Store Run. Of course, I walked and I had a really great time. It’s a great thing for families and the fair afterward was pretty awesome. Anything that gets me walking is a plus. The most important thing was I walked 3.1 miles.

There were a lot of things I couldn’t eat but it was free stuff galore. Hot dogs, coconut water, Aquafina bottled water, Monster energy drinks, Red Bull, chips (I saw kids diving for Cheetos while I was just looking for the pretzels), and lots of whoopie pies. I wish I could have enjoyed a whoopie pie but I couldn’t. The sweet stuff seems to bother me a little bit more during pregnancy. Normally, I would have missed this event because I would have been out of town racing so it was really nice to go and just have a good time.

Date night with @fueledxrunning. We're watching Star Wars: The Force Awakens. There's always something great about watching a movie outdoors! #webeatfat #setx #beaumont #couples #marriedlife #married

I was completely wiped out after that but we did manage to hit the outdoor movie that evening. It was a really great time but it got a little chilly in the night. I’m glad I remembered to bring a blanket…and bug spray to help me survive.

Be safe this Halloween.

Five things Friday: videos and running shoes

Five things Friday: videos and running shoes

Happy Friday!  It’s time for this week’s edition of five things Friday, but first I want to catch you up on some things, like my refrigerator. It’s always so promising at the beginning of the week.  We can’t find places to put stuff.  It’s always so full and inviting but organized at the same time. But come Friday morning, it starts to look a little sad.  I opened up the fridge this morning and thought it looked very empty.  At least there’s some oats in there for tomorrow morning.  The good news is, the fridge will be full again come…

Setting up the Sunday

Setting up the Sunday

Good evening everyone! I’m trying to set up the week today. We went to the grocery store this morning and had a pretty lazy day. Then I thought it was time to make the lunches for the week. Nothing fancy happening here this week. Good ole turkey burgers, spaghetti squash casserole and some smokey greens. I’m responsible for lunch, Willie is responsible for dinner and we both contribute to breakfast. That’s just what works for us. I hope everyone had a great weekend. I know I did. For everyone out there who thinks I don’t run unless it’s a race…

Fresh pasta and meatballs

Fresh pasta and meatballs

Yesterday I had a very brutal run. It was my last long run before the marathon and it wasn’t really a fun run. It was windy and I gave myself a mental beating throughout the run. I talked myself out of running the marathon twice over the those 16 miles. Willie was there to supply me water/Nuun/words of encouragement every three miles. It was a very hard run but I made it through. And when I finished I noticed I ran those miles faster than last weekend. I just can’t believe that I let myself get mess with my head…

Notes on the weekend

Notes on the weekend

This weekend was pretty chill for me because I didn’t feel like doing anything. Maybe because I’m going to be going out of town on Wednesday and I just wanted to spent some chill time with the hubs and pups. Plus, my body was begging me to stop. I had been working out for two weeks straight without a rest day so I really needed to take the break. It was a steady push to Sunday for me! Friday: I decided to work from home on Friday which was the best thing ever! This was the first week the training…
