Friday Five (on Saturday): Motivation Edition

Yesterday was a crazy, long day for me so I didn’t have a chance to get my blog post done.  I hope you don’t mind that I’m posting a Friday Five on a Saturday.  I hope everyone had a great week.  I’ve been watching the Olympics all week long and it’s great to see people going after their dreams.  It’s been a good week so I have no complaints.  I ate my prepped meals and really enjoyed what we had for dinner.  See, it does pay to try something new.

On to my list.  I got some new stuff to give me a little bit of motivation in different areas of my life.  I will admit that some days I’m just lacking the motivation to get all the things done on my list.  I’m hoping these little things will keep my mind positive and looking into a bright future.

I don’t drink enough water.  Lately, it’s been really hard for me to get my water in.  I don’t know if it’s because it’s been cooler but something just isn’t right.  I love Hydroflask and I’ve been using it for almost a year.  I think it’s perfect to take the gym for a workout and everyday life.  (There is no way I would run with this bottle because it’s too heavy.) I ordered my custom Hydroflask a couple of weeks ago and it finally arrived.  Isn’t it pretty?  I customized the colors to my liking.  I think that’s the coolest thing because I know it’s my Hydroflask.  Hopefully, a little color motivation will get me drinking a little bit more water.

I love my Headsweats hats and there are new designs on the site.  I was so excited to see new patterns and colors in the new collection.  This made my heart jump!  I can’t wait to take this on spin in the gym and on my runs.  At the beginning of the year, I received some bad news from Headsweats.  I’ve been an ambassador for three years, but I didn’t get picked this time around.  This was very heartbreaking but that doesn’t mean that I’m going to stop reppin’ the company and gear I love so much.  I don’t have a promo code to share with you but I think these hats are stylish and you should buy.

If you’ve been reading the blog, then you know I love socks. I am proud to say I am a Pro Compression ambassador. Everyone always comments on my socks during races so now you know where I get them from. A new pair of socks always makes me feel great and helps me get up at 3:45am to get my workout in. The more color the better. This month Pro released the green/white jailbreak and the pink/black jailbreak sock. You can get 55% off using the code BREAK at checkout on either pair of those socks. This is always my first pair of mid socks (the center pair) and I love them. I wear them for cycling and I’ll probably wear them during the colder months because sometimes it’s hard for me to get the over-the-calf socks over my running tights.

The Momentum motivation wraps give me life in the best way possible. These are just little reminders of positivity in life. These are the things I need to get from the beginning of the day to end. There are moments I feel overwhelmed or just lacking, so having this on my wrist as a reminder that “I can and I will” or “You are enough” really does make a difference. Sometimes it is the little things that can make a difference and I know these bracelets have made a difference in my life.

Time to switch gears a little bit.  I love Bolthouse Farms dressings because they are low in calories and fat.  There are so many flavor options, even ones I don’t know about.  Blue Cheese has always been my favorite until I saw this pop up at the grocery store the other day.  I can’t get enough of it.  It’s so good. I like balsamic vinegarette but I love this creamy version. These taste better than those high-fat dressings.  You can have the flavors you want without feeling guilty about it.  These dressings are so good.  Give them a try.

So that’s it.  Hopefully, I shared something with you that you might want to buy yourself.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend and share any of the things you are loving this week.  Maybe I’ll find something that I will like in your loves of the week.

What are you loving this week?

Components of weight loss

Components of weight loss

I’m desperately trying to stay afloat which got me thinking about a couple of things.  It’s the beginning of the year so everyone is focused on weight loss, hitting the gym and eating healthy meals.  There is so much more to weight loss than just those things.  It’s a process and sometimes it’s easy to overlook some of the smaller things. Sleep is so important.  Right now I have a tiny one who is controlling my sleep schedule so it’s been a little rough. She seems to be getting more than enough sleep; it’s me who seems to be suffering.…

Water drinking experiment: out of sight out of …

Water drinking experiment: out of sight out of mind?

It’s winter.  It’s coldish and the need to drink water has lessened.  I’m not trying to cool my body off from heat and I’m just plain not thirsty.  These are the times it’s very trying to achieve my daily water goals.  I’ve been failing at this lately. I had my very own water drinking experiment. I always tell people to put water on their desk at work.  I use to do it all the time but then I stopped or I would place my bottle across the room.  It was never within reach.  When it was far away from me,…

Video this week: drink more water, get motivated and a road trip

Happy Thursday everyone!  I didn’t do any meal prep this week because it was all up to Willie so I don’t have a food video for you this week.  I’ve been working really hard on these videos and it’s a learning process.  It’s something I feel is adding more to the blog. Here are the videos this week: Drink more water…and add some flava! Keep your fitness appointment because it’s just as important as anything else in your life. Watch and get motivated! And my weekend road trip to Mississippi/Alabama by myself. Boo! Have you tried a water enhancer? Did…

Summer hydration safety

Summer hydration safety

I have some lofty goals for this summer that I know I won’t be able to accomplish unless I focus on hydration. Hydration is an important part of daily life AND to those who are on a weight loss journey. Drinking water helps your metabolism which is something we are all trying to achieve, right? *Yes, I know I spent a lot of time talking about Nuun in this post. There is no compensation happening here. It’s just a product I love and use on a regular basis. It’s definitely apart of my daily routine. I can tell you all…

Stay hydrated. Drink water!

Stay hydrated. Drink water!

At the beginning of the summer Willie started this water drinking thing because he felt like he wasn’t getting enough.  He started doing it so of course I jumped on it too.  I just didn’t use that annoying app that has reminders to drink all the time.  (Truth: Every time that sucker went off I was more inclined to use the bathroom instead of drinking water.) But it really got my thinking, do I drink enough water?  We’ve been told since we were little that we needed 8 glasses of water per day.  But then I read this on PBS:…

Eating healthy while traveling

Eating healthy while traveling

This week I’m traveling to Savannah for a conference which got me thinking about traveling. I love to travel. When I close my eyes and picture the future, I see a lot of traveling. I’m a person who is always on the go so being healthy on the go is very important to me. Most people think when you’re away it’s a “vacation” which may be true. When I’m traveling I don’t like to completely blow it out of the water. Really the only time I didn’t fret much about eating was our China trip. I know there are some…

Travel Thursday: It’s all uphill from here

Travel Thursday: It’s all uphill from here

And I mean that literally! All the business is behind us.  On Tuesday, I went back to the consulate to see if we got approved for our visas and to pick them up!  Luckily we were approved and that was the last big hurdle for us going to China! Going to China is a very big deal and they really like to know why you’re going and what you’re doing when you get there.  It may seem like a hassle having to fill out the paper work, but at the same time it makes me feel a little safer too.…

Do you drink enough water?

Do you drink enough water?

There are two things that will halt your weight loss: water and sleep. If you’re not drinking enough water something is going on in your body. I’m not going to pretend to know the science behind this and get all technical. That wouldn’t be fun and that would be a step in the wrong information direction for me. I’ve read the articles and studies saying drinking water is better than drinking sugary drinks. Isn’t that a big “duh?” I’ve read consuming water before meals helps you eat less keeping the calorie intake lower than a person drinking alcohol or soda.…
