Monday Motivation: Take the challenge

Happy Monday everyone!  I’ve been trying to catch up on blog business so I can get back to do what I love.  It’s been a life-changing year for me and just when I thought I have my crap together, something else pops up. It’s all been a challenge but that’s what life is about, right?

I encourage everyone to take on the challenge.  Don’t let the challenge knock you down.  Face it head on, tackle the challenge, and overcome the challenge.

There are plenty of people out there in the world who tell say, “you shouldn’t, you can’t, you don’t have time, you won’t succeed” but those words are not absolute.  Every person is different which means every situation is going to be different.  Those words will not define you and you shouldn’t let those words hold you back.

A challenge is a challenge for a reason.  A challenge is meant to push you out of your comfort zone.  A challenge is meant to make you think; to make you look at things from a different perspective.  A challenge is meant to make you better in one way or another.

Take the challenge.  Don’t let the challenge scare you.

It’s the holiday season and everyone is fearful of the holiday weight gain.  Maybe people really aren’t worried about the holiday weight gain, but it’s just something that people talk about during this time to scare you into eating right and not over indulging.  People want to scare you away from Christmas cookies and having a good time at holiday parties.

Let’s all take on the challenge to not let that stuff get in our heads and ruin the holiday season.  This is the time to challenge yourself to do something for yourself, to make an improvement. I am taking on the challenge to do something better for myself.  I’m taking on the arm challenge because I miss having toned arms.  I hope to set up my own We Beat Fat challenge for January, but for now, I’m doing other people’s challenges.  Last month, I did Planksgiving and it did wonders for me.

There might be a little one who wants to make sure the arm challenge is the best challenge ever. I am setting a good example for her and she’ll grow up knowing that a healthy lifestyle will be a good way of life. And she’ll have a momma with some banging arms, right?

My point is: find something that will challenge you and push you to the next level and do it. Don’t think about it, just do it!

What challenges are you going to take on this month?

Happy Halloween and the Corner Store Run

Happy Halloween and the Corner Store Run

I’m not really a big fan of Halloween.  I don’t like dressing up and I’m not a huge fan of candy.  I never really enjoyed it as a young child either.  I don’t like to be scared or spooked and I know that’s only one side of the holiday.  It’s just not for me.  I love others enjoy it but it’s really not the thing for me.  I must be hard wired wrong or something, right?  Maybe this will change in the future, but I may be growing a child that might not like it either. Maybe I’m just bitter…

Notes from a birthday weekend

Notes from a birthday weekend

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes and all the congratulations on my big secret.  I had a wonderful weekend thanks to my husband.  It’s probably the best birthday I’ve ever had.  I know that’s a big statement but it true. Willie took me to the Astros baseball game. It was a great game. The roof was closed and we had awesome seats. I had a really fun time. I’m kind of ruined now with baseball games now because now we’re always going to need to sit in those seats. The Astros lost the game, but they put up a…

Recipes: Stay healthy and indulge over the holidays

Recipes: Stay healthy and indulge over the holidays

It’s coming on Christmas and there are tons of treats and foods in your face.  It’s impossible to escape.  You know I’m a big fan of moderation and deprivation.  If you deprive yourself of the things you want, you’ll probably end up binging on those foods later.  Enjoy them now with moderation and portion control. There still is a way to stay healthy and indulge over the holidays. I will indulge during the holidays but I’m ok with it because I am keeping active. I try to keep my activities holiday themed too because it’s just so much more fun.…

Get active during Thanksgiving holiday

Get active during Thanksgiving holiday

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and we’re all going to be eating to enjoy the holiday.  I hope everyone does enjoy the holiday without feeling guilty.  But this is also good time to be with family and friends and you can get active.  Everything is better with a group anyway. My mom had knee replacement surgery yesterday so I had to forgo any active recovery I was planning on doing yesterday.  This morning was a different story.  I felt like I needed to get out to work in for many reasons but I just miss breaking a sweat.  I hit the treadmill…

Motivation Monday: Be present in the moment.

Motivation Monday: Be present in the moment.

I’m blogging from a hotel room on this lovely early morning and I’m thinking about all the amazing experiences I’ve had this year.  It’s been completely amazing and there has been one take back from it all. Be present in the moment. That is today’s motivation Monday message.  It’s an important message to send, especially at this time of year. It’s Thanksgiving week which means a big meal to made and friends and family gathering together.  It can be hetic and overwhelming, but it’s also meant to be a time to be thankful and enjoy the time.  Don’t forget that…

Five Things Friday: tips to avoid food temptation

Five Things Friday: tips to avoid food temptation

Halloween just passed and we’re on the cusp of holiday season.  There will be comfort foods, cakes, pies and all types of goodies being shoved in our faces all day long.  From home to work to social gatherings, the holiday season has arrived but what does that mean if you’re on your weight loss journey or just trying not to over indulge. Every year I post something similiar because every year I feel like I learn a little bit more about how tempting some foods can be and sometimes those are the foods you just can’t stay away from.  The…

Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day!

I know Mother’s Day is almost over but I wanted to pop in and say hello to all the mother’s out there in the world.  Without them, we wouldn’t be here. I spent the afternoon with my mother. She’s my hero. She’s battled cancer and is still surviving. I sometimes take it for granted that I spend every day with her when most people don’t get that chance. I am thankful for my momma every minute of the day. Two very important moms in my life: my mom and my sister! We had a family meal that included all of…

It’s Christmas week which means things get busy

It’s been really busy during this holiday season.  I feel like we’re in a constant moving state.  Last night, Willie said he missed meal prepping!  Isn’t that kind of funny?  He told me so I immediately wanted to spend some time meal prepping when we got home. I made some ground chicken chili in the crockpot last night. I totally forgot about it until I woke up this morning to go to gym. Those crockpots are amazing things. I think everyone should have one. I think I’m going to start making more stuff in the crock pot so that I…

The day after Thanksgiving

The day after Thanksgiving

I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving yesterday. I was hosting this year which took up a lot of time.  It was hard to keep up with everything and keep blogging.  I’ll give you the short version of the holiday.  On Wednesday night, we had a little get together with some friends.  I didn’t get a chance to take pictures because I was running around like a crazy person, but I did get one with my good friend Julie. You might remember Julie from her story.  Check it out if you haven’t!  She just keeps getting better! On Thanksgiving morning…
