Keeping it real for the holidays

The holidays are a hard time for people who are food conscious.  Just because I lost all this weight doesn’t mean I don’t have issues with food and right now I just feel like my eating hasn’t been that good.  My eating habits probably aren’t as bad as I’m making it seem; it’s just that I’m eating foods that I usually don’t eat.  I am desperately trying to get rid of the leftovers in the house so I can put the holiday behind me.  I hate wasting money and throwing away food is just wasting money to me.  This morning I tried to start things off like normal by eating my usual eggs and oatmeal.  Yes I know you can’t see the eggs, but there are egg whites behind that spinach!

For lunch I was stuck with leftovers so I made a ham sandwich with a side of dressing and sweet potatoes. It was very good.

I think I'm tired of #leftovers! Ready to move on from this food but it's not gone yet!

But not what I’m use to eating. We have one more go round with the leftovers and after that I think they’ll all be gone. Thank goodness for having company to help eat up all this food.

It’s always hard for me because I usually eat the same thing every day and I don’t worry about it.  It’s like clock work but during the holidays it’s always something different.  Come Monday I’m going to try to get back on track with feeling normal again, but then it will be time for the marathon.

This is a life lesson on being too hard on myself.  When I start eating off, I start to feel down on myself like I’m slipping into bad habits even though I know it’s not the case.  My mind plays tricks on me and every one who has ever lost a lot of weight has the fear of gaining the weight back.  These are the moments when things like this creep into my mind and it’s just stupidness.  It’s time to rise above that though because I’ve still remained active and are keeping mostly healthy habits.

On a brighter note, I attended the Run Walk for a Cause to support the victims of typhoons in the Philippines. It was a great experience and I’m glad that I was able to go and run and support my friends. I purchased $60 of raffle tickets but I won nothing. That was a big bummer but the money went to a great cause.

So are you still eating holiday leftovers?

Playing Catch Up: Pie Party, Thanksgiving and Black Friday

Been wondering where I’ve been? Things have been really busy. I’ve been traveling too much and trying to cram too much into too little time. My blogging has suffered a TINY bit! I was in Alabama and then had to come home to work…and then host some holiday festivities. I thought I was going to have Wednesday off but it didn’t happen that way. I went to the gym and ended up teaching a spin class to help someone out. On Wednesday, we through a “pie party” for Jeremy’s birthday. We wanted to do something nice for him and Willie…

Challenge: I CAN…Be Active

Challenge: I CAN…Be Active

It’s that time of year again when people say they are busy but aren’t too busy to eat. The holidays are about spending time with family and friends and buying gifts, so why not give yourself a gift? The holidays are filled with treats and great food so practice moderation with those foods. BUT I’m also asking you to get active! My best friend Mandie has already jumped on the challenge and she’s been working out to shed some pounds and just get an active lifestyle. Why can’t you do the same over the holiday season? There’s A LOT of…

Happy Halloween! Is it all about candy?

Happy Halloween! Is it all about candy?

It’s the day that we all loved as kids because we could dress up like anything and get free candy for it!  And of course, there are the pumpkins.  Children get so excited about pumpkins and most adults don’t enjoy the carving process.  I wonder if it’s because it’s too messy or just too time consuming? Last Saturday, we took our god daughter to the pumpkin patch. She was running around that place so fast and having the time of her life, even though there weren’t many pumpkins left. That’s understandable though because Halloween was very near. She is all…

The toughest race I’ve ever ran

The toughest race I’ve ever ran

On Memorial Day, Willie and I ran the The Patriot Half Marathon (me) and 5k (him) to support Carry The Load.  We started out being very excited about this race but it kind of got over shadowed by the race we will run in San Diego on Sunday!  But this was the hardest race I’ve ever ran.  There was humidity and wind and hills. I’m just not use to the rolling hills so I had to take it slow.  Plus, I wasn’t interested in injuring myself where I couldn’t run in SAN DIEGO!  You see?  It’s become that important to…

The Catch Up Post: Goals, Races and Mother’s Day

I feel out of touch with the blog because so many things have been going on in life. As you may have read, my grandmother passed and I took it very hard. I didn’t expect to take it that hard, but I did. There were a lot of tears shed over this experience. I saw her decline every day until she passed; I basically watched her die. She’s in a better place now after living a long and amazing life. Her passing added emotional stress and sleep deprivation to my life so my overall well being kind of took a…
