#TourdeAngie resumes with Snickers

Hello all! I think I am ready to make my return to blogging. I have been going through a lot of things lately but I think I need to just come back. There will never be a right time and my mind will never really be free of stress. These are probably the moments that I need to be blogging.

New car, straight hair, and a road trip. On my way to collect a new state. Georgia it's going down this weekend at the Snickers Marathon. #tourdeangie #teamhealthykids #teamnuun #weightlossjourney #webeatfat #werunsocial #travelgram #roadtrip #marathonman

Yesterday, I hit the road for Georgia. Thank goodness for having friends that live at the half way point of life. I was able to drive halfway yesterday and finish it up today. I will be making the full drive back on Sunday so please keep me in your thoughts.

I also got my hair did this week.  I was tired of having clown hair so I did something about it.  That’s a whole other blog post for next week.  The struggle is real and it’s worth talking about.

I arrived here in Albany, GA this afternoon. Let me tell you, this trip was filled with the back roads of Florida and Georgia. AND I completely forgot about the time change. I knew I would change time but it just kind of slipped my mind. I guess I’ll be prepared for next weekend too.

Snickers Marathon

I went to pick up my race packet not too long ago and there was a ton of Snickers swag. I’m actually really surprised. I even heard people talking about the post race snickers stuff too. This should be very interesting. Someone has already taking possession of all of my snickers swag so I’m sorry I can’t share. I’m not a huge fan but I did have a snickers mini today.

You know what that means?  Tomorrow I am going after state #16 with Georgia.  I bailed out of the RnR New Orleans marathon for this reason so I’m looking for a good result.  I was super hard on myself this week for that, but I know it was for a better reason.  I am on a quest to run the 50 states and that is what is important to me right now.  The quest continues.

So what are my race day goals?  I think I really need to get back to this.

A Goal: To finish.  I’m not going to be super picky about this because that just seems to be the theme of this year.  Plus, I haven’t run a lick this week for my hair reasons.

B Goal: To not get dehydrated.  This seems to be an on-going problem right now because we seemed to have skipped a season this year and it’s a bit warmer.  There was no winter; we went straight to spring and I don’t like it.  I like cold weather running because it’s made for PRs but none of that is happening this year.

C Goal: To finish and be able to walk around to enjoy the Mardi Gras festival at the end.  I don’t want to come out injured or anything because I’m going for state #17 next weekend.  Gotta play it smart.

Those are my goals for this race.  I’m really looking forward to running this race and seeing what this city has to offer.  You know my preferred way to see the city is on foot and this is going to be a great opportunity.

What are you doing this weekend?

What I learned from 40 races in 2015

What I learned from 40 races in 2015

Here’s the breakdown:  7 5Ks, 1 10K, 3 other distances (10 milers and 25ks), 11 half marathons, 15 marathons and 3 ultra marathons (two 50ks and a 50 miler) That was my 2015.  I could be missing something but I’m going to go with this count.  Yesterday I ran my last race of 2015 which made me think about what I’ve learned. This is what I learned from 40 races this year. Running is my vessel to travel.  It gives me an excuse to hop on a plane or get in a car.  It combines two things that I love… View Post

Race Recap: Route 66 Marathon Weekend

Race Recap: Route 66 Marathon Weekend

What a wonderful weekend I had in Tulsa at the Route 66 Marathon weekend.  I didn’t know what to expect going to Oklahoma because I had never been.  All I knew was this was one of those bucket list races for someone trying to run the 50 states.  This was my last state to capture for the year but not my last marathon.  Read more about my quest in another post if you want to know more.  I am proud to say that I ran marathon #29 and captured state #15 on my journey. Willie and I took a road… View Post

Race Recap: Kansas City Marathon

Race Recap: Kansas City Marathon

The one thing I will take away from this trip is Kansas City is a beautiful city. My expectations were low and I wasn’t expecting much out of this marathon after not meeting my expectations in Chicago. I orginally signed up for the Kansas City Marathon after finding out that Rock n Roll St. Louis would no longer be a marathon. In a panic, I went looking for another race because Missouri was an imporant part of the plan this year. Luckily, this race was the day before Rock n Roll St. Louis! Things happen for a reason and I… View Post

Chicago Marathon 2015: Did I #OwnChicago?

Chicago Marathon 2015: Did I #OwnChicago?

The Chicago Marathon was an amazing experience.  Saturday runners walked the streets filled with anxiousness and excitement.  It was infectious! I rolled into Chicago thinking this wasn’t a big deal.  It was just another race, another state to check off my list.  I wasn’t that amped up about the race, I was excited to meet the people of Team Healthy Kids! The Chicago Marathon was something deeper for me when I first arrived, but that’s a whole other blog post. Before actually arriving, I took the experience for granted.  I didn’t see it as a big deal, but it was.… View Post
