The update on life blog

I must apologize for my absence from the blog.  My life has gotten really crazy.  The responsible blogger thing would have been to stock pile post and have something already in the queue.  I like to blog organically and where as some posts are planned, I do most of my posts based on what I feel like is itching to be talked about that day.  Therefore, I haven’t been around.  Here is an explanation in this video:

My mom had knee replacement surgery so any extra time I’ve had has been spent taking care of business.  The days have been long and stressful and honestly, I’ve just been stretched really thin.  I’ve been trying to keep things moving smoothly.

Just finished teaching my class and now I'm stretching. It's an important part of working out. Do you always stretch? #fitfam #fitfluential #sweatpink #holidaysweat #ffcheckin #webeatfat #weightloss #weightlossjourney #fitness

I’ve also kind of been battling some “injury.”  I don’t know what’s going on but it’s a foot/ankle issue that has kept me from running the way I want to run.  I struggled last week at the Turkey Trot to finish a 10K and I’ve been taking it really easy since then and now I’m just resting and stretching. Do you get in the right amount of stretching after your workouts? I may or may not have been slacking on this.

My foot is a little sore and my shin hurts when I #run. I'm pretty sure this problem is connected. Haven't been able to run full pace since Tulsa. Thinking it was the hills (cause I'm not use to that) or that bad trip I had walking back to the car after t

I’ve been icing like no one’s business.  Normally I wouldn’t care but this weekend is Rock n Roll San Antonio and I really want to be able to run it.  Tomorrow I will make the appropriate decision on whether to marathon or not but today I’m still hopeful.

So what’s the deal with this vlogmas thing?  I am making a video everyday until Christmas.  Some of the videos will be silly and some of the videos will be useful content to you and the blog.  The main goal is to get me creating and thinking everyday.  I’m really trying to push myself to the next level and really build something special for all of you guys.

As for the blog, I’m still here and I’m still blogging.  Things will settle back to a normal routine very soon.  It’s just when life gives me some curve balls there is a period of adjustment.  It takes me a minute to be able to adapt to the new normal but I’m getting there.  I promise.

Have you done your Christmas shopping yet?

Motivation Monday: Be present in the moment.

Motivation Monday: Be present in the moment.

I’m blogging from a hotel room on this lovely early morning and I’m thinking about all the amazing experiences I’ve had this year.  It’s been completely amazing and there has been one take back from it all. Be present in the moment. That is today’s motivation Monday message.  It’s an important message to send, especially at this time of year. It’s Thanksgiving week which means a big meal to made and friends and family gathering together.  It can be hetic and overwhelming, but it’s also meant to be a time to be thankful and enjoy the time.  Don’t forget that…

Motivation Monday: Be the best for yourself

Motivation Monday: Be the best for yourself

Hey all!  Today’s motivation Monday was sparked by a Facebook comment. I ran a race yesterday. I know you’re shocked, right?  I’ve been feeling way under the weather and I wasn’t expecting much.  The one thing I was counting on that it would be a horrible experience.  I was still sleeping 20 minutes before the start of the race. Something happened after the race that made me WANT to make this video. After I finished the race I posted this: I finished and I didn’t do horrible either. Ran the half in 2:18 and I was sick. Nice way to…

Five Things Friday: tips to avoid food temptation

Five Things Friday: tips to avoid food temptation

Halloween just passed and we’re on the cusp of holiday season.  There will be comfort foods, cakes, pies and all types of goodies being shoved in our faces all day long.  From home to work to social gatherings, the holiday season has arrived but what does that mean if you’re on your weight loss journey or just trying not to over indulge. Every year I post something similiar because every year I feel like I learn a little bit more about how tempting some foods can be and sometimes those are the foods you just can’t stay away from.  The…

We are in Runner’s World talking weight …

We are in Runner’s World talking weight loss!

I am so happy to finally share with everyone that we are in the December 2015 issue of Runner’s World.  I guess we could have spoke about it before but honestly, we didn’t know much information about it.  When running the Pensacola Marathon on Sunday someone at an aid station stopped to ask me if I was the girl in the magazine.  That is really when I found out it had hit the shelf.  On my way home yesterday, I stopped in Baton Rouge and purchased them all. Haha! The forces at Action for Healthy Kids are making my dreams…

Orthorexia: is this a real thing?

Orthorexia: is this a real thing?

I don’t know if you read the post making the rounds about the new eating disorder: orthorexia. Orthorexia is an obession with eating only foods that are considered healthy. Apparently, only eating healthy foods is a problem. I guess it’s time for a little bit of story time. When we started the weight loss journey everything was super clean. No salt, no sauces, no resturant food but we did what worked for us. I think people thought we were going overboard at some points. I knew that, I didn’t need people to tell us that. Our biggest reason for going…

Five Things Friday: the blog blocked edition.

Five Things Friday: the blog blocked edition.

Welcome to this week’s Five Things Friday. I don’t know if I just have too much stuff going on right now (aka stress) or what but I can’t seem to focus on writing a blog post right now. I’ve sat down three times today to write a post and it’s just not coming. I’m blocked. I never want the blog a source of stress in my life. For today I’m going to let the blog post go. I always want to create content that you can gain something from but today it’s not happening. Instead you’re going to learn about…

Why meal prep hasn’t been a priority

Why meal prep hasn’t been a priority

The month of October has flown by and you may have noticed something was missing from blog.  There has been a noticable absence of meal prepping or cooking going on in my life.  I just wasn’t home long enough to get make it priority.  I spent half the month packing for trips, running and in airports.  The meals I made were quick and easy and didn’t require much prep. Sadly, most of those meals came from the freezer or out of a can.  It was just what worked for me during this time.  The time between trips would sometimes just…

Tips for gaining focus

Tips for gaining focus

I’ll cut the small talk and just be honest, I have been lacking focus. I’m easily distracted and that has really killed my productivity. That’s why things have been lacking here in the blog department. The slightest thing will throw me off course and it’s hard for me to get back on this figurative road. Do you know how many times I’ve jumped off this blog post already? I’ve only typed three sentences. I decided my office today would be Panera. You know, because it’s easy not to get distracted here. Wrong! Whever my focus has gone, I would like…

#TourdeAngie has begun with my airport food hacks

I had big things planned for the blog this week but then life got really busy.  It was launch week at the gym which is always a great time. But that also means things get really busy with teaching extra classes.  Then my full time job was hectic because I was trying to do 6 days worth of work in 4 days.  The blog and vlog kind of got no attention this week.  Luckily I have some down time in the airport right now between my flights. I first had to eat my salad in the bag.  Why in the…

Don’t skip your exercise warm up.

Don’t skip your exercise warm up.

I do realize a lot of my readers are on their own journeys and don’t know where to begin.  Healthy eating and exercise is something new to you and you don’t know where to begin.  That is why I’m talking to you about the exercise warm up.  I see people go straight hard core into their workouts without any batting an eye on the warm up. The exercise warm-up and cool down are crucial parts of the workout and sadly parts that people don’t really focus on.  Today, I’m only talking about the warm up but don’t worry, I’ll talk…
