Happy August! It’s time for new goals!

Happy August everyone!  It’s the start of a new month which means anything is possible.  Start thinking about the things you hope to accomplish this month.

Yesterday was my momma’s birthday!  It was kind of a chill day for her.  My  momma likes to celebrate occasions with food which is hard for Willie and I because we’re trying to keep things in check.

We finally decided on Pei Wei.  If you’re an old blog reader you know Willie and I use to swear by this place, but they changed the menu.  For me, the nutritional information is a little bit harder to decipher than it previously was so we haven’t gone to this place in a LONG time.  But we made the best of it.  At least now they serve a side salad instead of the rice and/or noodles. We just dumped our entrees over the salad and called it meal. Luckily, I’m still obsessed with lettuce.

#cupcakes for my momma on her #birthday
But I couldn’t let my momma’s birthday past without letting her enjoy some cake, so I got her cupcakes. I got her two red velvet cupcakes, a banana split and a wedding cake cupcake. She seemed to enjoy them and that’s all that matters!

I tallied up all the gift cards I got for my birthday and got some new running kicks. This is my first pair of green running shoes I’ve ever had. It was meant to be. I’m so excited! This was a welcome surprise on the door step yesterday!

I needed my @procompression socks today so I didn't care if I didn't match. Hit the treadmill this morning bc it was raining outside. #runchat #deadlegs #embracethespace #fitfluential #sweatpink
This morning I woke up to do an easy run but it was super humid because of a rain storm from last night. And it was kind of raining this morning so I decided to hit the treadmill. It was definitely a morning that I wanted to sleep in and when I was working out, I wish I would have just stayed in bed. It was a sluggish run for me, I didn’t feel right. I got through the three mile run and decided to walk another mile. I guess I’m glad I did it BUT I feel tired. In fact, this post is late because I went back to sleep when I returned home.

I don’t want to set too many goals for August because I don’t want anything to get in the way of me getting back in the pool. I have been inspired by some of my Team Chocolate Milk teammates and I’m having a case of the “I should be there” blues. Last year, I swore this would be my year for a half ironmnan. I let fear get in my way and I didn’t even try. I’m not going to let that happen. So now I”m going to get in the pool and really work on my swimming so NEXT october I will be competing in a half ironman competition. When registration opens, I am going to sign up so I can’t chicken out. When you drop that much money on a race, you can’t really back out of it.

So what is your goal for the month of August? What do you need to do to achieve it?

Energy bars and working out

Energy bars and working out

I feel boring lately because I haven’t really been doing anything exciting. I needed the change of pace though because I was on the move the entire beginning of the year. Plus, things are getting ready to kick into high gear for me. This week I’m going to Fitbloggin in Savannah, GA so I’ll be on the move. I thought I would let you know what’s going on in my boring life… I enjoyed a beautiful sunset after book club last week. This was an amazing thing for me because I’m usually in bed when the sun goes down. I… View Post

Marathon training might just have to take a backseat

I don’t have much to report from the weekend. I’ve enjoying the weekends of not doing much because I was on the constant move earlier in the year. I also know I’m going to be on the constant move towards in the fall too. I’m taking the time to enjoy summer. Only bad thing, I missed the 5K on Friday night because I got busy and lost track of time. No bueno. But on Friday, i went to my first tabata bootcamp class. Talk about intense! They are offering the classes at my gym so I thought I would try… View Post

Happy Friday and a good workout!

Happy Friday and a good workout!

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope this week has been kind to you because it’s been a pretty good week for me.  I’m feeling a little off my game because there has been no running and definitely no running in my weekend plans.  It’s just kind of odd for me since it’s something I’ve been doing a lot of for the past 8 months.  I’m taking the self-imposed zero week because I really just think I needed it.  I’ve run 5 marathons and several half marathons this year already.  My medal rack is overloaded, but I wouldn’t have it any other… View Post

Travel Thursday took me to the Chinese consulate

Travel Thursday took me to the Chinese consulate

It’s time for your weekly update on all things China!  Remember last week when I told you we weren’t prepared for this trip, we really aren’t!  But this week we are two steps closer.  Our passports arrived in the mail this week which meant I needed to make the trek down to the Chinese consulate.  That is why this blog post is happening so late in the day. Wondering why I had to go there? When you go to China for any reason you have to get a visa. It goes inside your passport and you’re not allowed to enter… View Post
