Fundraising for Team Healthy Kids (Action for Healthy Kids)

Supporting Action for Healthy Kids is a priority for me because I spent a majority of my life being overweight from childhood into adulthood.  I don’t want that for the future of our country.  I always say that small steps lead to big strides and this is just one of those small steps.  This is our future.  There are many health issues that are associated with childhood obesity but there are ways to stop that.  Action for Healthy Kids EDUCATES our children on healthy options and the reasons for choosing those options over others…and when to make those other choices.

Action for Healthy Kids works with schools to educate children on healthy options for a healthier diet. Also, the program helps with getting healthier options in schools for kids to eat. In some cases, the meal provided at school is the only hot meal a child receives in a day. It’s important work this group is doing and it benefits every child. Obesity does not discriminate.

This is your chance to make a difference in the life of child.  I am asking you to take a moment to help make a difference through a donation.  Any dollar amount helps the cause and is greatly appreciated.

I have made a commitment to run the Chicago Marathon and to promote healthy living for myself and our society. Running to promote a healthy lifestyle and to fight childhood obesity is a perfect complement. I want future generations of children to be healthy and succeed in school and in life.

Childhood obesity is a major problem that needs addressed. More than 30% of American children are obese or overweight. This is triple the number than in 1980. Action for Healthy Kids is helping make a difference through several great programs. Check out their website www.actionforhealthykids.org to learn more.

With a donation of any size you can help them continue to impact the lives of our kids and get even more of these great programs in local schools.
Thanks for your support!

Making goals on May Day!

Making goals on May Day!

Hello May!  I hope everyone is starting off the first day of the month in a positive direction. Last night, I stayed up a whole lot late for me to watch the draft.  I must confess I usually go to sleep between 8:15 pm – 9:00 pm and the first round of the draft lasted until 10:30pm.  I went into the bedroom around 10:15 to watch the two last picks but I fell asleep. This morning I woke up a little tired but I wanted to start the month off right and go to the gym.  I knew I wasn’t…

It’s #GivingTuesday: The children of St. Jude need our HELP!

Brown Thursday, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday, those are all over.  It’s time for #GivingTuesday. So what is Giving Tuesday all about? Getting together to celebrate generosity by giving! We give all our money to the stores so why not give to help out a great cause. Last year we raised $2500 for the children of St. Jude. This year our fundraising goal wasn’t quite as high but we would still like to give back. Can you help us raise a little bit more money? Last year this was supposed to be my first marathon but it was canceled. It…

Do you like t-shirts with motivation words?

Today is your lucky day if you do!  Remember last year when Willie and I were raising money for St. Jude’s Children Hospital to run in the canceled marathon?  Well we are doing it again!  Last year, Team We Beat Fat raised $2500 for the the children at hospital.  This year we want to raise money again. Together, Willie and I, will run the St. Jude Marathon in December and we would love to be able to sport a heroes singlet as we run through the St. Jude campus.  Every dollar counts and helps a child fight their battle with…
