My week in recovery

I’m probably being too cautious with my recovery but I don’t want to be injured again where I shouldn’t be running.  That’s a very scary things.  I felt like I lost my best friend and I don’t like losing my best friends.  It hurts and it’s sad.  No more sad faces in my life. Welcome to my week in recovery.

My week in recovery

So I’ve been really weird about my running.  I haven’t ran this week since I ran a lot last weekend.  I’m running the Austin Marathon in 3 weeks and I really want to do well.  Last year, I bailed out at the halfway point but this year I will finish that marathon and I want to do it with a decent time.  Therefore, I’ve been stretching and foam rolling this week.  I will probably take it the streets this afternoon for a short run and then a longer run tomorrow.

Excuse the picture, I have 6am crazy eye. I haven’t really worked out much this week.  I did teach my classes which I’m thankful for because I have to teach them.  Otherwise, I might have been too much of a slug this week.  My fitbit steps are kind of lacking this week but I was blowing it up last week.  It’s a give and take.

There have been more dog walks on the schedule due to no running.  I know Master loves it!

My week in recovery

My appetite has been off all week.  I haven’t been wanting to eat.  I’ve missed snack time everyday.  I’ve been drinking my water though.  And my salad game has been on point.  Salad every night.  We had taco salads but I couldn’t handle anything spicy this week.  I think it’s becoming a problem…and I don’t like it.  I love the spice but lately I can’t have it AT all.

My main goal of the week was to ease back into things and just stay active as much as I could. I listened to my body and just slept in when I needed to and didn’t work out if I didn’t feel like it. Next week will be a different story because it’s time to hop back on the routine.

How has your week been? Did you work out? What did you eat?

How important is a routine?

How important is a routine?

Do you have a routine? And how important is that routine to you? I’ve been pondering the thought of my daily routine because I’m still trying to fight getting back into my old routine. There are several good things about routines like knowing exactly what what you’re going to do every day. But routines can lead to life being bland or too boring. I like knowing that on certain days, I’m going to do a certain workout. I like not having to worry about changing that structure. I sometimes like knowing on certain nights we are going to eat certain…

Why wait? Start your new routine today.

Why wait? Start your new routine today.

“I’m going to start my new diet and workout routine on Monday.” This is a statement that many people including myself have uttered at one time or another. Sometime during the week before, we make a conscious effort to get our plan in place. We write out what we’re going to do and what we can and can’t eat. We’re excited and are so ready for that upcoming Monday. My question to you is: Why wait until Monday? There’s six other days of the week. Any day is the “perfect” day to make a plan of action. Start today if…
