Hey all. It’s the first week in review of 2021. The first of the year is usually busy for me. I get caught up in the fact that I’m not checking everything off the to-do list. Instead of feeling like I’m failing or falling behind, I’m choosing to celebrate that things are busy and I can make a living.
I hope everyone is having an excellent start to the year and looking for the light instead of the dark. With that said, a TERRIBLE event occurred in our nation’s Capitol this past week that left me dumbfounded. It was not the USA’s finest moment in history, but I’m HOPING we can all learn from the events and grow into a more united and optimistic country instead of what the country has grown to be over the past decade.
Quote of the week:
It’s been a tough week, so it’s imperative to take care of yourself. Do what you need to do to keep your mind peaceful so you can tackle each day like a champ. For me, this meant staying out of the comments and turning off the television to decompress. This also meant not reacting to uncomfortable situations that came my way in my personal life and learning how to power that energy into productivity and positivity. Sometimes people think you are holding a grudge when you’re just maintaining a boundary. Nurture your peace.
What I ate this week:
I also ended up with a HelloFresh box I forgot to cancel. I have no problems with HelloFresh; I don’t need a box every week or continuously. It’s nice when you’re in a recipe rut. I don’t enjoy cooking, so sometimes making these meals are taxing on me. I didn’t make my meals and ended up freezing.
I did make one meal, though. It was the plum glazed chicken with veggies and rice. This chicken is a meal I would cook up myself because it’s quick and easy. I like cooking simple meals with minimal steps and a few ingredients.
I ended up eating food out of the freezer, making avocado toast, or just making salads most of the week. If you haven’t watched my January 2021 goals video, you don’t know that I’m trying to cut my sugar intake for the month. I’m also not drinking any alcohol in January for personal reasons, along with the sugar intake. I have struggled with my sugar intake over the week, which reinforces why I need to be on my less sugar journey.
My workouts for the week:
I’ve been wearing my Garmin Fenix 5 all the time because I would like to start a training cycle soon, and I want to get a baseline on my activities, including my sleeping patterns. The results I was getting from Garmin were a bit disturbing. After every workout, I got a message of unproductive or overreaching. I did struggle in my activities this week, but this hit me like a brick wall with these results. I’m still researching why I’m getting these messages, but I like data and depend on it.
Monday:3.12 powerwalk
Tuesday: 3.11 walk + run
Wednesday: 45 min HIIT + Hills Peleton ride
Thursday: REST
Friday: 45 min Pop Peleton ride
Saturday: 2.25-mile power walk
Sunday: REST
I didn’t do my usual hard workouts and took everything pretty easy this week. I still struggled. It’s essential to listen to your body and get the proper amount of rest. I suffered sleep problems the week, and I wasn’t feeling 100% health-wise. I’m not too hard on myself about it all. I can only do what I can do.
Videoes this week:
Everything else:
Tot is learning to tie her shoes and is full of life. She talks non-stop and has REAL conversations. It’s nice to talk to her and enjoy the moments with her. I can’t believe she’s four!
I’ve watched a lot of Netflix over the past couple of weeks. I highly recommend Kobra Kai (if you like Karate Kid or even if you don’t), and Bridgeton is cute but filled with adult content (no kiddos in the room for that one). I also watched the IMDB TV series Alex Rider which is a spy show. If you’re into the Bourne Identity type series, Alex Rider is for you. The ending was a bit anti-climatic, but the show has been renewed for another season. It’s worth diving into the spy world.
I’ve fallen behind on doing my devotionals and readings. Honestly, I’ve watched too much television, and I need to jump into some other forms of entertainment. It’s the start of the year, and I don’t want to fall behind on some personal goals I set for myself. TV is just an escape from not having to think when my mind is rolling ALL DAY LONG.
What is the best thing to happen to you last week? What are you looking forward to in the current week?
