I have a love/hate relationship with my Fitbit Flex. After Fitbloggin’ last year, I decided to get a Fitbit to help me monitor my steps and sleep patterns. Little did I know, I was going to go through three Fitbits in less than a year and these things aren’t cheap. In April, my Fitbit Flex died again on the charger and I missed it but I wasn’t going to go through the hassle of getting a replacement. FYI: Fitbit support has been very helpful in providing me replacements. It is still frustrating having this thing go out on me all of the sudden.
Last week I made the decision to contact support again to get another Fitbit Flex. (I would really like a Fitbit Charge HR but I’m very apprehensive about paying for the product.) It arrived this week and it suddenly has me VERY aware of how much I sit throughout the day. That’s the bummer of having a desk job, right? My buddy Lauren has been challenging me to daily challenges which has really helped me get my steps in. Sometimes you just need a little incentive.
I went for a walk yesterday at work during my break. That is not something I normally do but I had a reason to get out and do it. If you want to be my Fitbit friend, add me.
Yesterday afternoon I was kind of tired and I didn’t want to work out. If you’re a blog reader you know I’ve been trying to get two workouts in a day. I haven’t been running for recovery reasons and I am kind of tired of walking. I didn’t feel right not doing something so I pulled out an old Wii favorite, Just Dance. Let me tell you, I got my steps in and worked up a serious sweat. I remember playing with my besties for hours at a time in my late 20s…I also remember being super sore the next day. I played for 45 minutes and felt like I got a good workout in, even though I wasn’t trying. I guess it’s always an option.
Workouts and motivation can come in different forms so have a good time with them. Sweat, hydrate and move on!
That’s a good thing because I can’t get enough of this baked oatmeal. I probably shouldn’t enjoy it that much but I do.
It’s Memorial Day weekend and all my company bailed on us. We had a fun weekend planned but everyone had to drop out at the last minute so we’ll have to find something else to do. It’s weird when my weekends have been filled with running and then it starts to wind down. I’m sure we’ll find something fun to do though. I’ll be going to San Diego next week though so I guess it’s good to keep it low key for this weekend.
What are your plans for the weekend? Will you be spending time outside?
