I’m not really a big fan of Halloween. I don’t like dressing up and I’m not a huge fan of candy. I never really enjoyed it as a young child either. I don’t like to be scared or spooked and I know that’s only one side of the holiday. It’s just not for me. I love others enjoy it but it’s really not the thing for me. I must be hard wired wrong or something, right? Maybe this will change in the future, but I may be growing a child that might not like it either.
Maybe I’m just bitter due to the lack of trick or treaters year after year. That might be the case. Children just don’t trick or treat anymore and I’m left with a lot of candy I’m not going to eat.
I know people really like the candy aspect of it and there will be candy for days. Halloween doesn’t really just last for one day. It’s kind of the gift that keeps on giving until you A. finish the candy or B. throw it out. So I thought I would help you out with a few candy cheat sheets to make you feel just a little bit better about your candy choices.

REMEMBER IT’S OK TO ENJOY THESE TYPES OF THINGS IN MODERATION. Don’t deprive yourself of things you might want because you’re going to end up binging later. Well that’s not a proven fact, but you’ll keep thinking about it and obsessing about it. Just save yourself the headache and enjoy a little bit of it and get it out of your head.
Anyway, this past weekend was a good one. I’m proud of myself for getting out of the house. First, Willie and I did the Corner Store Run. Of course, I walked and I had a really great time. It’s a great thing for families and the fair afterward was pretty awesome. Anything that gets me walking is a plus. The most important thing was I walked 3.1 miles.
There were a lot of things I couldn’t eat but it was free stuff galore. Hot dogs, coconut water, Aquafina bottled water, Monster energy drinks, Red Bull, chips (I saw kids diving for Cheetos while I was just looking for the pretzels), and lots of whoopie pies. I wish I could have enjoyed a whoopie pie but I couldn’t. The sweet stuff seems to bother me a little bit more during pregnancy. Normally, I would have missed this event because I would have been out of town racing so it was really nice to go and just have a good time.
I was completely wiped out after that but we did manage to hit the outdoor movie that evening. It was a really great time but it got a little chilly in the night. I’m glad I remembered to bring a blanket…and bug spray to help me survive.
Be safe this Halloween.
