Weight Loss Stall? Here’s What’s Stopping It!

Losing weight is a challenging thing to do. The problem is that it’s not the weight loss part that is hard, but overcoming the challenges that get in your way. As somebody who has been overweight or obese for some time, you’ll know that it’s never just a case of mind over matter. Obesity is a disease, and food can be an addiction. The problem is trying to identify that addiction and making sure that you can overcome it—weight loss issues. If you are currently going through a weight loss journey, but your weight loss seems to have slowed down to a stop, you need to look at what’s stopping it.

Once you’ve looked at what’s stopping it, you can find ways to get around it. For example, many people tend to take medications like semaglutide, or they go for weight loss surgery because they’ve tried absolutely everything and haven’t gotten anywhere. Instead of resorting to more extreme measures at the beginning, you need to do everything possible to try and get through your weight loss store. Here are some of the things that are getting in your way.

  1. You’re obsessing over the scales. The numbers on the scales can have you in a chokehold if you’re trying to lose weight, but if you’re obsessing over the numbers, you’re not going to be looking at the bigger picture. Just because the number on the scales isn’t changing doesn’t mean your body’s Physiology isn’t changing, so make sure you’re also measuring yourself. Muscles do not weigh more than fat, despite what people tell you. Muscle and fat can weigh the same but take up different amounts of space.
  2. You’re not taking in the right amount of calories. Whether you’re overeating or eating too little, you’ll struggle to lose weight if you’re not taking in the right amount of calories. Weight loss relies on creating a calorie deficit, which means burning more calories than you consume in a day. You can do this with regular exercise and healthy eating. Losing weight is hard enough, but if you are doing yourself a disservice with your calorie intake, you will struggle even more.
  3. You’re exercising too much. When you exercise, your muscles trap water between the fibers. Sometimes, this breaks down and becomes an even leaner muscle, but other times, it doesn’t work that way. Over-exercising is excellent if you are looking to hurt yourself. Many people are unaware of the risks associated with overtraining, and by pushing yourself too hard, you will end up pushing yourself into an injury that will take you back to the beginning of the circle where you can’t work out anymore.
  4. You’re not looking at your protein. If you want to lose a decent amount of weight, you need to make sure that you’re prioritizing protein. You don’t need to count carbs or fat if you don’t want to. You need to look at your protein and your fiber because these are the nutrients that will help you with your weight loss.
