Approach the New Year with an open mind

The new year is coming which means it’s time to make new plans.  It’s time to move forward.  It’s time to leave 2014 in the past.  The door of possibilities swings open again, so don’t be close minded!  Take the time to explore new avenues of in life.  Try something that you never thought you would do.  Even if you don’t like or love it, at least you tried it!

This is the time to start anew.  The best piece of advice I can give to you is to set goals and do everything in your power to achieve those goals. No matter the size of the goals, set them, go after them and celebrate all the big and little milestones in between.  It’s truly about the journey and not always about the prize.

This is the time to leave the negative behind.  Things happen.  Life isn’t always fun or go the way we plan. With the new year, comes a change to leave the negativity in the past so that you can move forward in a positive future.

This is the time to face your insecurities head on.  Embrace those pesky things and turn your insecurity into a source of power and motivation to be something better.  Insecurity will weigh us down.  It clouds our thoughts.  It makes the possible seem impossible. Insecurities are just doors we have closed for ourselves.

2015 is going to be the year to live in the joyous moments.  The past month, I’ve let others steal my joy.  I didn’t celebrate my accomplishments because of what others may have said.  I let those things creep into my head and heart and I missed moments that should have been truly happy.  I will not let that happen to me.

Celebrate life and all that is in it.  When things don’t go your way, deal with the situation by finding a positive solution to the problem.  Don’t overthink or overanalyze to the point of destruction.  Accept it and use it as learning moment to move forward.

Life is what you make of it.  Open you heart and mind to the possibilities of the new year.  I look forward to traveling through the journey with you.

What is on your list of things to do in 2015?

No more waiting for what you want

No more waiting for what you want

It’s that time of year when we start to make New Year’s resolutions.  Today is December 28th and most people are going to wait until January 1st to start living their “new” ways.  But why are you waiting?  Why not get a jump start on what you want right now? I never understood the waiting until this specific date to make something happen.  If if the new year you’re trying to tackle better habits or lead a healthier life?  Why wait until January 1st?  Why not start developing those habits right now. Waiting will get you no where.  Waiting will…

Secret Santa and the gifts

Secret Santa and the gifts

I found myself involved in a lot of Secret Santa things this year.  It was kind of out of control, but I’m really glad that I took part in this holiday ritual.  And outside of the Secret Santa games, I got some really cool stuff that I’m excited to share with you guys.  (Warning: you may not care about the gifts I have received before Christmas.) Secret Santa gifts include: The Skinnytaste cookbook from my Fitbloggin’ group. I was wicked excited to get this cookbook. I’ve been eyeing it for a while but I never purchased it. This was definitely…

Make this right now: Pecan Pistachio Salad

Make this right now: Pecan Pistachio Salad

I promised I would share some healthier dishes that you can add to your Christmas and New Years celebrations.  I served it up at my family Christmas this past weekend and everyone was surprised it was something that I made.  Everyone thought it was more sinful than what it actually was.  It’s simple and easy and doesn’t take long to make.  Here is what you need: 1/2 cup crushed pineapple 1/2 cup chopped pecans 1 package SUGAR FREE Pistachio pudding mix 1 32 oz container plain or vanilla lowfat Greek Yogurt Mix the pineapple, pudding mix and greek yogurt a…

It’s Christmas week which means things get busy

It’s been really busy during this holiday season.  I feel like we’re in a constant moving state.  Last night, Willie said he missed meal prepping!  Isn’t that kind of funny?  He told me so I immediately wanted to spend some time meal prepping when we got home. I made some ground chicken chili in the crockpot last night. I totally forgot about it until I woke up this morning to go to gym. Those crockpots are amazing things. I think everyone should have one. I think I’m going to start making more stuff in the crock pot so that I…

Enjoying the Christmas season with a bike ride

Enjoying the Christmas season with a bike ride

This week has been filled with holiday things.  We had our run group Secret Santa on Monday and tonight we had the Christmas Light Bike Ride.  I was a little worried that it was going to rain tonight and we wouldn’t be able to ride.  It was misty, but I still made it.  It was really hard to see. It all started with Sainta Clause.  Who Dat! Dancing #santas! A video posted by Angela (@angelabeatfat) on Dec 12, 2014 at 4:48pm PST And then there were dancing Santas. I had to get my picture taken with one of the dancing…

Christmas presents for your health minded person

Christmas presents for your health minded person

Next week is Christmas.  Have you done your shopping?  I haven’t done much shopping at all.  I should probably get on it.  Just in case you’re still searching for the perfect gift or stocking stuffer, I thought I would go ahead and put my list out there.  All the lists out there seem to be the same: running shoes, running fuel, blah blah blah.  Here is my list of great gifts for your fitness/health junkie friends: The price buster: An iPod.  I know you can listen to music on  your phone and most people do.  But I think it’s great…

Now that I’m not running…

I have a little bit more free time.  Things have settled in our house.  Willie is officially a marathoner and I’ve run my last races of the year.  Those recaps will be coming soon but for right now there is something else to talk about. Now that I’m not running I have a little bit of time to clean shop around the blog.  It’s been a hard trying to find a balance in life.  I have my day job, my part time job and my blog job.  It’s been a whirlwind and I think I did a pretty good job…

Good comes from a bad day

Good comes from a bad day

Yesterday was a pretty bad day.  Things has progressively gotten better throughout the day but it had taken a toll on me mentally.  A series of unfortunate events finally led me to the road.  I needed to burn off some of the stress that had been building all day. I hit the road to clear my mind. I felt really good when I was done. I was back in a better head space and I was ready to relax! But then this happened! The bus aka The Sequoia had a really bad flat. When I got out of the car…

Sleep evades me

Sleep evades me

I wish I had something more exciting to talk about but I don’t.  I have been desperately searching for sleep.  I haven’t had good sleep since Friday night.  After the marathon, I thought I was going to sleep really good but I didn’t.  I spent the majority of the night watching Willie get the best sleep of his life. I went to sleep in the car on the way home Monday, but that was only for an hour.  Monday night I got absolutely no sleep and I had to get up to teach my 5AM cycle class.  I was hoping…
