The calzone cooking fail

I really wanted a calzone carbs this week but I was trying to be good.  I was going to stay away from the bread.  I looked a pinterest for all this wonderful ideas of variations on a calzone.  Spoiler alert:  I should have tried one of those ideas instead of what I did.  Today I’m sharing with you my calzone cooking fail.

On pinterest I came across a calzone made with egg roll wrappers and I thought it was a great idea considering egg roll wrappers are lower in calories than some other choices.  But the problem was I didn’t have any egg roll wrappers at home but I had rice paper for spring rolls.  And rice paper wrappers are way low in calories so I thought I would give it a try.

Before I get any farthar in this story, I really wanted a calzone because I made a meat sauce this week and I wanted to try something different with the sauce…and I was feeling creative.  It didn’t quite turn out the way I thought it would.  I baked them in the oven and it wasn’t the worst thing I’ve had in my life, but it wasn’t the best thing in the world.

The moral of this week’s cooking fail: stick with the original or just go to the store to buy egg roll wrappers.

On an up note:  I made this amazing breakfast sandwich this morning using half a Flatout Bread Pizza, egg whites and Laughing Cow cheese.  It totally made my morning and changed up my morning breakfast routine…for this week at least.

What’s something you’ve cooked that completely missed the mark?
