I had a good weekend

I had a really great weekend.  I know I don’t usually post stuff about my normal day to day on the blog, but maybe I should do more things like that.

Austin Marathon 2014

I spent Valentine’s Day being active with Willie and support my best friend at her school 5k.  Note:  it was a lot of walking on a soccer field.

Heart to heart 5k

Totally not serious, but A LOT of fun!

And someone showed me to to stretch because I wasn’t do it right!

Then we headed to the expo to pick up our packets.

Then I fought the ridiculous Austin traffic to hang out with my friend Julie. I had a really great time hanging out with her and just talking. She’s still looking good, right?  She’s pretty awesome!

And then I went to carb load but I didn’t take pictures of it. I’m a bad blogger. Hahaha!

So what did you do this weekend?

Five years of being married…

Five years of being married…

Five years ago today, I married my best friend. I don’t want to make it about anything other than what it is. This is a day that Willie and I decided that we would become family. We promised to take care of each other and love each other unconditionally. Willie is the kindest, most compassionate person that I know. He’s truly the best and I can’t express how I feel with words. We’ve done some amazing things together and I can’t wait to experience more of life with him. Thank you to my wonderful husband for showing me the best…

How your love language fits into your life

How your love language fits into your life

Do you know your love language? It’s an important thing to know. Taking this simple quiz will tell you a lot about yourself which in turn will show you have you navigate life. My primary love language is quality time. This explains a lot about me. I carry around a lot of guilt because I keep a busy schedule. I’m just one of those people who just like to stay busy and all of you know I like to get out and explore different places. That makes quality time being my primary love language a little ironic…at least to me.…

Today is Willie’s Birthday

Today is Willie’s Birthday

He’s becoming an OLD man, but there’s nothing wrong with that. The older he gets, the more handsome he becomes, he gets a little bit smarter and a whole lot wiser. I’m hoping he has a wonderful day. Birthdays haven’t always been the best or most eventful moments in his life so I ALWAYS want to make the day something special for him. It’s kind of hard to make it amazing when it falls on a Tuesday. If I had it my way, I would take him to California. Wait!?! We already did that. Ok, so maybe we would go…

A look at friendships

A look at friendships

It’s time to take a wellness break here on the blog. I’m all about living a healthy life through mind, body AND soul. So let’s talk about friends. I was never the girl who had a lot of friends.  My close friends I can count on my hand and those are the people I lean on in the good and bad times. I like to think I am a very good friend most of the time but you never really know. A couple of days ago I was reading Kimberly’s blog and she linked to this article: 7 Friends Every Woman…

It’s not a diet. It’s healthy …

It’s not a diet. It’s healthy lifestyle changes to lose weight.

The biggest piece of advice we can give you is to stop dieting.  It’s not a diet; it’s healthy lifestyle CHANGES to lose weight and keep it off. A lifestyle change is very difficult, especially for the people in your life.  We had so many problems with our friends and family because it wasn’t only a change for us, it was a change for them too.  Both Willie and I were overweight our entire lives and our weight defined us.  When it was time to make a change things did get very sticky and possibly people didn’t take us too seriously. For people who…

Why food could be ruining our attempt to make friends

One of my April goals is to become more social.  Willie and I have spent a good chunk of our time hanging out with out of town friends but we did want to have more of social life in at home.  The older we get the harder it is to make friends though.  I wish we could return to the days when sharing a crayon or playing on the playground instantly rendered a best friend or playmate.  Adults just don’t make friends the same way and most of the time it does involve food. I have my own social hang…
