Weekly Wrap up #3 2022: an easy wholesome week

This week was a slow week for working out since I ran my 5K and half the weekend before. The week brought cold weather, family time, and just enjoying the time at home. I have Reynaud’s Syndrome, so I like to stay inside when it gets cold. We played video games, read books, and of course, started Ozark.

Weekly Wrap up #3 2022

It was a wholesome week, which was nice not to do anything. For the first time in a long time, things were calm and unscheduled. Every once in and awhile, that’s a beautiful feeling!

Workouts this week:

Weekly wrap up #3 2022
Monday: Rest day

Tuesday: Rest Day

Wednesday: 30 min easy run. This run went better than I expected, my legs felt dead when I started running, and it took me a few minutes to warm up. I was surprised at what came out of that run. My paces didn’t reflect the tiredness of my legs.

Thursday:  30 min Pop ride with Cody Rigsby. Everyone has raved about this one Peloton class, so I tried it. It was fun, but it wasn’t all that. Cody always gives a good time on the back. Thursday was a scheduled rest day, but since I missed my optional workout on Tuesday, I decided I would do that workout on Thursday.

Friday: 45 minutes “long run.” Y’all, it was 30 degrees at 5 am, and the temperature was going to drop the rest of the day. I decided to hit the treadmill since this run was short to get it done and have the rest of the day to work and chill. It went well.

Saturday:  Schedule cross-training day, but my ankle has been bugging me since running my half. It seems to pick up when I’m running/walking fast. I did 20 minutes this day.

Sunday: REST

What I ate:

Weekly wrap up #3
Last week, I made too much food. I made so much food that many ended up in the trash. For this week, I did better at planning out my meals. Since winter has rolled through, I made a white bean chili for lunch the entire week. The meal hit the spot and lasted all week. Still, I had leftovers, so I made too much.

I ate oatmeal the whole week for breakfast because I didn’t plan out my breakfast meals. I should have done better about this, and I’m finding myself in the same place even now. I add good stuff to my oatmeal: protein powder, chia seeds, powdered peanut butter (sometimes), and frozen berries. It’s filling.  One day this week, I did a good one day of chickpea avocado toast in the mix.

For dinner, I made different meals throughout the week. It’s nice to have the essential ingredients already there to make something different every night without wasting a lot of time. I made chicken, tomatoes, kale, spinach, and olives with tzatziki sauce. I had salmon, brown rice and bulgar, and mixed vegetables. A shrimp salad from Salata. And a night of white bean chili because I made too much.

I also indulged over the weekend with some seafood ramen from my favorite ramen place in town. And I ate some brisket nachos for my “cheat” meal of the week. I know those nachos never disappoint. And I also had some churros and frozen yogurt for dessert. Sometimes I’ll venture out and enjoy something new, but sometimes you need to get with your tried and true.

Everything else:

Weekly wrap up #3

I have incorporated family stretch at the house. We all do 10 minutes before dinner. Confession: we tried the 10 minutes after dinner on Monday, and it made me queasy. For the rest of the week, stretch happened before dinner.

Ozark started on Friday, and all productivity went out of the window afternoon because I watched two episodes.

Then I stopped watching because I became too engrossed in my new book Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover. The book came out on Tuesday, and it was “free” Kindle Unlimited, so I thought I should read it before it went away. I finished the book before I started typing this post. The book is GREAT. I have a messed-up relationship with Colleen Hoover books because everyone loves them, and sometimes I don’t think the books live up to the hype. However, this book is a page-turner and had me from the first page. I highly recommend this book.

I can now get back to watching Ozark, since I finished the book.

I purchased a new pair of boots from Amazon because I’m too cheap to buy Uggs. People on social media kind of roasted me for buying the boots, but I can’t justify spending that much on Uggs when I live in such a warm climate. It’s cold now, but winter is only two weeks around here. Haha! I like the boots, so I don’t care what others say.

Videos for the week:

Please watch my videos. I’ve been a bit heavy on running content lately because it’s running season. But my videos look at the overall lifestyle and a more personal side. Please subscribe and comment on the videos if you have a moment.

That’s a wrap on this week. Thanks for stopping in to read about my training and my life. I hope I inspire you to stick with it and make it happen. The OG’s know about dream, believe, achieve.
