We’ll be on the TODAY Show Monday and ending the year

I’m really excited to tell share with everyone that Willie and I will be on the NBC Today Show on Monday morning. I do believe we will be on the 4th hour of the show talking about our weight loss and running. We are really excited to be able to share our story with more people. This will be a great way to start off the new year.

Today is the last day of 2015 and it’s been a learning experience. Ending the year is a time for self reflection and to see how far we’ve come or didn’t. The year started off as a very trying time but somehow I managed to end the year way better than it started. That is what I am most proud of this year.

This year I’ve found my place and a cause I really believe it. I can’t wait for the all the great things I get to share with you through Team Healthy Kids. I’m truly passionate about making this world a healthier place and bringing awareness to such a great cause. Action for Healthy Kids is making a America healthier by providing children and adults education and resources to make the healthy choice. To help spread the word about the cause, I would like to get people to run a marathon with me this year in Chicago and/or New York City with Team Healthy Kids. Is running a marathon on your bucket list? Or do you just want to run for a great cause? Here is your chance to run with me.

My first full year of my quest went really well. I completed my 15th state this year. I’ve reached new fitness goals with running a few ultra marathons and just being able to run all those marathons this year. The quest is much more than running it’s about getting out there and enjoying life; meeting new people and pushing past my comfort zone. I can honestly say I met some great people this year and I can call some of those new people friends. I’m definitely learning to communicate and have conversations with others. I know it sounds like a weird thing, but I’m usually the person to stand on the side.

This year I was able to share some of my knowledge with a lot of people. I’ve been able to motivate and inspire people by sharing our story. AND I’ve been inspired by hearing your stories too. Conversations can truly change your world and I’m honored to be able to have those conversations.

This year I’ve grown as a fitness instructor. I’m coming on my 3rd year of being a fitness instructor and I’ve really enjoyed this year. It’s not glamorous but it sure is nice to be able to help people reach their fitness goals. It’s a rewarding experience and I’m glad I was randomly plucked from the crowd to teach. I’m wicked excited to keep growing and improving.

Most importantly, this year I learned that I’m a constant work in progress. There is no change without change and I want to keep reaching new heights. I’m not really sure what is in store for me in 2016 but I know the year will be what I make of it. And the same with go for you, 2016 is a time to start new and try some new things. The world is at your finger tips, you just have to take a chance and make the first steps. You can do anything if you work hard enough for it. Don’t forget that!

We were blessed with so many things this year like being in Runner’s World, being able to travel to many places and even having the Surgeon General tweet about us. It’s a great thing but being able to just LIVE life is a blessing, especially being able to live the healthy active life we have now. I never would have thought this would ever be my life. I’ve been maintaining my weight now for almost 3 years and it’s been a struggle. Keeping the weight off is scarier/harder than losing the weight and I’m just glad that I’m winning the good fight.

Now it’s time to end 2015 and move into the new year. Don’t forget to watch Willie and I on the NBC Today Show on Monday, January 4, 2016!

Be safe tonight. Drink responsibly. Don’t drink and drive. Happy New Year!

Willie weight loss update and help me with a meal prep guide

Hey all! I should have gotten this up this morning but I’ve been swamped at work. It’s been pretty trying latey. I wanted to keep everyone updated on Willie’s weight loss journey and ask for a little bit of help. I don’t want to spoil the Willie’s weight loss update so you’ll have to watch to find that out: But I am interested in developing a meal prep guide. Is that something you guys would be interested in? What type of things would you like to see in a meal prep guide? This idea won’t go anywhere unless I get…

Setbacks of weight loss

Setbacks of weight loss

Weight loss is a tricky thing.  The people who need to lose weight seek it out.  It’s the goal, it’s a state of mind.  Weight loss is your best friend and biggest motivator when everything is going right and your biggest enemy when you just can’t pull it together.  “What works for one person will not work for another,” is what I’m always telling people when they asked what I did to lose weight.  That’s the truth, before, during and after weight loss. Many of you have asked about Willie and his lack of presence and I’ve kind of just…

My weight loss story: the reasons for losing 200 pounds

Hello all!  We got in late last night and I’m still not the same.  I’ll be working on my recaps for the Kansas City Marathon and Rock n Roll St. Louis for later this week. Right now I want to talk about losing weight.  I don’t know if I was ever really open and honest about my weight loss and what things were like beforehand.  So I made a video at the beginning of the month that I would like to share with you about my weight loss journey. I talk about dealing with my emotions, binge eating and my…

Meeting Dean Karnazes pushes me to set a good example for health.

I didn’t know that when I was searching for a charity for the Chicago Marathon I would find the cause that would change my entire attitude. I had no plans to run Chicago and to be honest I had no desire to ever run this race. But after a rough couple of months and a lot of deep thinking, I decided that I needed to run Chicago to make a statement to myself. I needed to show myself that I had changed, that I’ve grown and I’m no longer afraid to be united or stand alone. And then I found…

Why is loose skin such a big issue?

Why is loose skin such a big issue?

I’ve talked about loose skin many many (did I say many?) time before. Everyone seems to be really concern about loose skin. I have a question for you: why is loose skin such a big issue? Since I was asked about it again, I decided to make a video about it so you can actually see me talking about it. The video is short and I hope it answers your question. I also wrote a blog post on it maybe last year or the year before. I’m still baffled with this actually being an issue. I do not mock and…

Five Things Friday: 5?s – Life After Weight Loss

Happy Friday everyone! It’s raining here. It’s got me in some type of mood, but life must go on. I am here this week with part II of the video from last week. FYI: This will be the last 5?s about weight loss for a while, probably like 2 months. I just wanted to round up the most frequently asked questions in a video for people to watch. I have a few other weight loss related videos that will hit the queue eventually but this will be the last of these kind for a while. I think you should ask…

Five Things Friday: 5Qs about weight loss

Hello all! Happy Friday! Sorry about not having a blog up yesterday, I thought I scheduled a post but I guess I was wrong. That means I’m absent minded and it just left you absent. Have no fear, Angie is here with a new post for Friday. I enjoy doing the Five Things Friday thing but I thought I would change it up with a video this week. I am answering five questions about weight loss. The topic will change from week to week but if you have a question about anything, please feel free to ask me. It will…

Zip lining is our non scale victory

Zip lining is our non scale victory

Willie and I always said when we lost the weight, we would do some things like go to China, travel more and go zip lining. I’m two years past hitting my goal weight and we still didn’t zip line. Today we finally enjoyed the view from the tree tops at Shelby Farms. The non scale victory really came because it was great to not have anyone question our weight and we were just normal. We actually planned to go in Chattanooga but we canceled those plans and decided to come to Memphis. This was the biggest thing we had planned…

Five most important exercises for strength

Five most important exercises for strength

I missed my five things Friday yesterday because I was busy but that doesn’t mean you’re going to miss out on this great part of the blog.  This week I’ve been teaching out of the wah-zoo and I’ve been trying to keep up with my own running workouts.  I missed a strength training workout that I’ll hopefully be able to do today. Last night I did my long run.  It was pretty, hot and windy all at the same time. I’ve been working out a lot this week and I’ve been working on some projects which really got me thinking…

Five things: Weight Loss Edition

Five things: Weight Loss Edition

Happy Friday everyone!  It’s been a long week but I’m glad I made it to Friday.  The bad news is our air conditioning is on the fritz so it’s hotter than biscuits in our house. I had to get some AC is out provisions.  Hopefully, the unit will be fixed today but I’m skeptical. Anyway, I wanted to start doing the Friday Five thing but with a twist…with some helpful information for people so this week’s topic will be weight loss. 1. Weight loss is a process.  It’s not going to happen overnight so be patient.  It always helps if…
