Should I make broccoli salad for Christmas?

I don’t know why I’ve been thinking about broccoli salad all day, but I think I want to make one for a side dish for Christmas.  I haven’t really decided what we will be eating at this meal.  I’m just now starting to put the pieces together.  I’m sure Tiny Tot would prefer to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

I didn’t know there were so many variations of a broccoli salad.  There are options with mayo and mayo substitutes.  I need to decide between grapes, blueberries, apples, and oranges.  There is a bacon and cheddar combination.  I didn’t think it would be such a hard decision.

I’ve been putting together a Pinterest board of recipes just in case you’re interested in my broccoli salad journey.

Today has been a long day and I want to talk about more things, but honestly, this is what is on my mind. Now I’m just kind of tired so I’m going to rest my eyes and get ready for another day.

Do you like broccoli salad?

Five Things Friday: Mom life, salads, Chicago Marathon and more

Happy Friday, all!  By the time you’re reading this Friday will be almost over. It’s time for the Five Things Friday, but first I have to tell you some things. I wanted to put this up earlier but I’ve been dealing with the mom life (aka, a screaming infant) all day long. Willie and I are on a podcast.  It’s finally our turn for the…

WIAW: Eating in Indianapolis at Fitbloggin

WIAW: Eating in Indianapolis at Fitbloggin

Welcome to What I Ate Wednesday focusing on the food I ate in Indianapolis at Fitbloggin.  I didn’t expect the food scene to be that amazing in Indy but there was some great stuff there.  Lots of different varieties of food to choose from so it was always an adventure. Thursday I went on a pre-conference excursion to Lifetime Fitness.  They had food for us to enjoy after our workouts.  Of course, it was stuff made in-house and is sold at the gym.  There was chicken salad and other lunch meat sandwiches which I can’t have so I just enjoyed…

WIAW: Lots of salad or nothing at all

Hello all! Happy Wednesday. I wasn’t going to do this post because I really haven’t wanted to eat much of anything since the race on Saturday. I have to set reminders for meal time. I just haven’t been hungry. But I have all these food pictures so it’s only right for a What I Ate Wednesday (WIAW). On Thursday night, I threw together a stir fry. Willie made some really yummy food last week but on this particular night I wanted something else. This is what I threw together very quickly. Friday night I went to Salata to get a salad…

My Birthday: plaid, salads, froyo and friends

My Birthday: plaid, salads, froyo and friends

Yesterday was my birthday and I had a great day. I’m not very fond of my birthday because it’s so close to 4th of July. People don’t really pay much attention to it. The birthday isn’t about getting the presents (even though it’s nice) but more about the people who are willing to celebrate it! I started off the day wearing two favorites: green and plaid…and more plaid. Look at the shoes! Fortunately for me I was able to celebrate my birthday with some important people in my life and the cards they sent me! There were a few people…
