Happy Global Running Day! It’s the day where the entire world celebrates running and goes for a run.

It’s been a long day and that is why this post is late. I didn’t think I was going to be able to get any miles in today but I made it work. I got those miles in late, so now I’m wired and not sleepy at all. That’s no good because I have to get up early to teach my class.

Y’all know that I love running and I could share the reasons why I love running with you but you’ve heard it all. I thought I would share something with you that maybe you don’t know.

I’ve never run a mile in my life.

I’ve completed 30+ marathons and a few ultra marathons but I’ve never run a mile straight. I am a run walker.

You can be an awesome run walker and complete a marathon in 4:45. You can be an awesome run walker and run a 2:09 half marathon. You can do this because this is what I’ve done.

There’s not mold that you need the fit. There’s no right way to attack your running journey. For some reason, my body just won’t allow me to run straight miles. I’m ok with that. I have to run my own way.
